@@ProjectACHERON There is a novelisation of William Gibson's Alien 3 which comes out this year if I remember correct. I wonder whether they'll add any of the RPG lore into it. Three world empire and the political climate at the time ETC.

I can’t depend on you for innovation and engineering... or anyone else for that matter Just try to build an oil refinery Or drill a well A committee of government activists will come with pitchforks and torches trying to stop the construction, replacing it with communism. So , it’s not good If we had Capitalism/ not CRONY CAPITALISM - that would be good.

Offhand reference in Aliens to the cables between the command centre and the transmitter dish being damaged when the colony was first overrun. In hindsight the Xenomorphs were probably smart enough to cut the cables themselves, isolating their victims.

I mean i doubt we will see them in the game, but it is a very real possibility i suppose.

these are the kinds of questions I always have, a crew of marines went to investigate then dissapeared because of a mysterious mechanical failure in transit. just saying after the hearings that seems suspect.

In a prequel comic centered on Newt, we learn the colony had livestock that got face huggered, and we don’t know how many Xenomorphs can be birthed from sheep and pigs and such. Also we learn that that contact had not in fact been lost as Ripleybwas lead to believe, as the colonists got word from Weyland Yutani that the marines were coming.

@@ProjectACHERON It's not considered canonical via the book Alien Weyland-Yutani report. The report says the derelict was lost, due to the explosion of the atmospheric processors. Not even characters from the game, was mentioned in the report. And the biggest blow to Aliens Colonial Marines game of not being canon, is that Michael Bishop is not a Weyland, but just a representative of WY. Michael Bishop went to Fiorina 161 hoping to use his face, since the Bishop model was based on him, he thought he could easily convince Ripley. At least the company Seegson and Svestapol station was mentioned in the report, making Alien Isolation Canon to the Alien Universe.

Some video games show the town after a 40 Megaton nuclear explosion with the structures intact. Uh, no..

As Memory serves it wasn’t an actual 40megaton nuclear blast but that’s equivalent amount of energy released when cooling system collapsed followed by the collapse of the magnetic fields containing the plasma. The faculty is quoted as being 1,600 meters aka a mile high. That’s a huge structure that would likely end up as big chunks spread across the landscape. I could see the colony being far enough away from the processor explosion that it wouldn’t have been reduced to dust when a processor some 10km or so away exploded. Is an interesting idea that the blast was less than Bishop estimated and that substantial portions of both survived for future exploration.

Just listened to the audio of 'Alien Proximity' off the The Perfect Organism Podcast - I did not understand the ending, it kind of just cut off, as if cutting to black! Left me thinking 'What the hell?' I'd like your thoughts on it my dude, what did you make of it, what happens? The comments on the Podcast are turned off for some silly reason.

@@ProjectACHERON Ah no worries, it's easily found on KZread, it's actually really good once you get into it but the ending just drew a bit of a blank for me, and as I said the ability to read/view comments is disabled, your take on the story would be insightful...It's called 'Alien Proximity' and tells the story of a few survivors on Hadley's Hope, scary stuff.

Correct. To my knowledge, information on the Xenos was never broadcast from Hadley’s Hope before the Sulaco’s mission launch and after the atmosphere generator went thermonuclear, all immediate, obvious evidence of the Hive was wiped out. Frankly, both governing bodies would stand to benefit from keeping information on the Xenomorph species under lock and key.

What about the lore from the aliens sega game ?

The only Alien Sega game considered canon, was Alien Isolation, since the company Seegson and Svestapol Station, was mentioned in the book Alien the Weyland-Yutani Report. Amanda Ripley's encounter with the xenomorph, is considered the second encounter. This makes the infestation at Hadley's Hope as the third for humans to encounter xenomorphs

Still did Hadleys hope survive the ATmo going up? It just seems the lore on it is rather up in the air with some saying yes like COlonial marines and Aliens Aftermath, with other sources like the marine tech manuel saying it was vaporised.

ever seen a nuclear blast? Can you imagine anything being as close as Hadley's Hope was to the Processor when it went up surviving or being even remotely "intact"? No, I can't either. If you look at the whole complex, the colony was I think less than a kilometre, perhaps two maximum from the Atmosphere Processor, so that puts it in the definite vapourise zone. I just looked it up online, and the blast radius (fireball radius) of a 10 megaton device is nearly 6km of near total destruction. So times that by four and you would have absolutely nothing left, metal, concrete whatever would all be gone, and likely a huge hole where the whole area used to be, and that would be kilometres wide, and hundreds of metres deep too depending on the material beneath ground zero. So, no, the colony would NOT have survived, and to even think so is ignorance, and in the case of Aliens: Colonial Marines, severe creative license!

Here the short version....they done fucked up...big time
