In this video, I do an analysis of Gorillaz's weirdest yet misunderstood song. In this video, I analyze the meaning and interpretation of "Fire Coming Out of the Monkey's Head", track 13 on Demon Days. Tragic but described beautifully and made really well. Real eye opener.
personally i always thought that the monkey had to be a volcano, inactive one. My interpretation was always that in mining the gems of the caves, they destabilized the monkey (you can see smoke coming from it in a few parts of the video) and caused it to become active again.

this afternoon i listened to this and because i'm not english i decided to check the lyrics and i don't know why but the end scared me to death so i didn't wanna listen to this anymore, but your videos are so interesting that i learn more about this song!

If they want to perform the song live, I feel like Robert valley would be a great replacement for Denise hopper, I mean they sound so alike

I mean... Giorgio Moroder is also right there... Talk about a legendary stand-in...
i interpreted the song to be about the invasion of Africa and the start of the revolution. Most of the gorillas songs have an eerie note of impending doom, so to me it seems like it’s about the way that people have turned against other people and will eventually cause the world to end.
This one always stuck to me, it was so differnet and poignant

I remember when the Album came out. This song really intrigued me. It wasn't usual Gorillaz's song.

The strange folk made it to the top of the holy mountain and used what the learned to destroy anything beautiful
This song is about something much bigger than the war in Iraq. Good interpretation though.
oil doesn't come from mountains, lithium does. Also, dude; I hope you have learned to speak more slowly and intelligibly in the last couple years. You're obviously into it...good job, but I don't think you got it here.
