What tourists REALLY think of Singapore🇸🇬

I asked tourists and foreigners on the streets of Singapore's Chinatown about their real opinions: whether they like their trip here, what they dislike, if they think Singapore is expensive, and if they agree with people saying Singapore is boring.
Let me know in the comments what your opinion about Singapore is and if you are planning to visit soon! 🤗

@@reddotdivaSingapore is constantly evolving, morphing, upgrading. There’s always something new, or different, or improved, plus the comforting "old favourites", and unique traits. For me as a visitor the last 20 years has been awe-inspiring on top of Lee Kuan Yew’s foundations and legacy. I feel privileged to be able to enjoy Singapore as a visitor, but sad that it’s unlikely I’ll ever become a PR or Citizen in this life time. It always feels like home when I return 😍

Singapore is really safe some years back while burning midnight oil for studies, i wanted a snack at nearby 7-11, mom said its around 2am it might still be unsafe for solo female, i went and on my way i saw solo female jogging along the road footpath, i told my mom that and said she worried too much lol. Singapore is not a safe place either. Violent man hit you with stick multiple times in busy crowded street, police called and they did nothing! Multiple witnesses and cctv and police do nothing! In Singapore, many men do upskirt video in public spaces with evidence captured on cctv and police did nothing! In Singapore, man expose his genitals and full nakedness in quiet, public neighbourhood to violate woman, police called and do nothing! You are naive to think Singapore is all so good, because such things are buried and not reported! Victims don't get justice. Things only look OK on the surface. Today criminals are not punished by the law. They get away scot free.

I am from Nepal. I have been in singapore and stayed there for almost 3 years during my study. Before my study i was there for few days 2-3 times. It was before 2007. I found singapore is a perfect city to live for any individual with thier family. Singapore is safe, multicultured, lot of opportunities, centrally located, warm weather, very systematic and perfect law and order and lot of positivity that gives you positive vibes. If you are planning to visit as a tourist, you can eperience a modern city with Chinese, Malay and indian culture in one city.

I can confidently say that Singapore is the best country to live in the whole world. Safety, clean streets, friendly and polite people, a lot of greenery and trees and clean air. Caring for people and the environment is also visible everywhere - all shopping centers have rooms for children, defibrillators on the walls, waste separation, etc. This is the only country where I did not worry about crime, even at night I could calmly walk the streets and not be afraid of thefts. Yes, there may not be many noisy places for entertainment in Singapore, but for people like me who value safety, peace and comfort, as well as mutual respect between people, this is the best place. I would also like to note the absence of smoking in public places. In my country they don't follow this and it's annoying. I was in Singapore for 2 weeks and it was the best time of my life. Here for the first time I felt truly happy, I forgot about all my problems and anxious thoughts. I have never encountered any rudeness or misunderstanding in Singapore. Even the airport staff treat all tourists very well. When I returned from Singapore, I was depressed for a month. For a long time I did not want to realize the new reality that I was not there, but already in another country. Thank you to all the people of Singapore for creating such a wonderful place! You managed to build an ideal country, and if you told me what else could be improved in Singapore, I would have to think for a very long time, because I did not find a single flaw. My dream now is to build a startup with enough valuation to one day become a Singaporean citizen. P.S. Prices are also not very high, lower than in Western Europe. I stayed at the Four Seasons for only $500 a night, in Paris it costs $2000 a night. Separately, it is worth mentioning Singapore Airlines, which has been considered the best in the world for many years; the flight with you was amazing.

I've lived here all my life. I've yet to find it boring! How you continue to be curious, to learn and discover things about this small island is quite amazing. There is still yet more to find out about - our history and the context of its people is deeper than what most people think.

Agreed. She prob just dipped her toes in and didn’t really bother to dig deep. I went to a museum recently with my kids and this swarm of noisy tourists descended on the room we were at, didn’t stay for the media presentation which gave ALL of the context of why this museum was crucial and left after taking some photos. They read nothing. Just glanced about. My 13yo was kinds perplexed about the encounter. Th is exactly the sort of shallow tourist that say we are boring.

@@mamamememooyeah, well... in other countries like Japan (a hot fave destination for most), their culture has been exoticised in minds of people for a long time, and their country's culture can be seen very clearly on the first level as a tourist. For SG, you have to dig deeper. What you see may not be what you get if you want to really know what SG is about. And most tourists, to be frank, can't be bothered. They just want to do their Instagram photos, post them and then head on to the next "cool" thing.

It really depends on what you prefer if you wish to visit Singapore. What I like about Singapore: 1. Safety and efficiency (Buses and Trains are well connected) 2. Very diverse culture (Chinese, Malay, Indian, Eurasian, Nyonya, etc.) 3. A small city where you can get almost everything (Most of the international brands are here) 4. Affordable - From a local point of view - DO NOT BUY WATER FROM 7-ELEVEN UNLESS NECESSARY! It's more affordable to buy from the supermarkets such as Fairprice, Giant, Sheng Siong, Prime - Eating at hawker centers What I do not like about Singapore 1. The weather is humid 2. Expensive* Hotels: I can't dispute on this, it's expensive as compared to the neighbouring countries. Restaurants: Be prepared to fork out additional 10% service charge + 9% GST. However, no tipping is required. Taxis: Yes, it's not going to be cheap, just stick with the bus/MRT If you are travelling on tight budget, you may not enjoy Singapore as much compared to your home country. However, if you are willing to splurge a bit, you'll be amazed by the things you can experience in Singapore.

Let's say is your second (or third) trip to Singapore. You check into your favourite hotel and dine at your favourite restaurants, drop by your favourite clubs in the evening. Next morning have breakfast Ya Kun (or at the food centres), and spend the rest of the day at your own leisure. This is the kind of customised travel experience that attracts people to revisit Singapore (or any country). l have seen people take a flight here just to satisfy their craving, and fly back the next day. When you decide to visit a new place you need to find things to do, and not wait to be entertained.

Need to find something to do in Singapore so that you wont feel bored. There are many activities to do in Singapore for example busking, sports, martial arts, social work, volunteer and etc. Scenery in Singapore cant compare to other countries because of the small size. You cant see mountains and waterfall in the country. It is like a city in a garden. Singapore has been my home for more than 30 years, and I am still content with my life there. I have a slight disapproval of the country as a whole. The government is very stable and not corrupted.

Food is OK , ther e is variety but each is somehow limited as traditional food disappearing from hawker centre. What we do well is how the country is being governed City planing infrastructure, public transport, safety...

Singapore is boring not because there isn't anything to do but because majority of the day it's too hot and humid to do much, other than stay indoors mostly in the malls which are pretty plain and standardized compared to malls in say Bangkok. Thats the reason. In other global cities, you can go to parks, walk through the city, hiking, go to beaches, watch sporting activities, visit street fair etc etc all during the day while still having the same options to do everything else in the evening or when things are cooler like in Singapore. It's not the fun and activities but the safety, efficiency and cleanliness that makes Singapore one of the best place to live in for me.

There's no point asking all these questions. I know you are doing it just to create your own channel. But I can tell you people (except for that couple from China, yeah yeah, who else, right?!) will not usually tell you the truth even if they feel negatively about Singapore. They are just being nice and polite, or respecting the country. I cannot believe that one said she likes the Singapore weather. Really? Then later she said she could stand the humidity. Hmm.... I also cannot believe how those who come from Europe could say they like the Singapore streets. Hahaha.... Singaporeans like me cannot wait to always travel to the REALLY BEAUTIFUL streets in Europe! They have more character there. I know because I am a photographer. It's always challenging finding nice places to shoot. In Europe, wow.... I could stand at some corner and very likely, I would get a pretty good shot of something. :)

I am Malaysian. I visited Singapore once during primary school as a graduation trip. The feeling at that time was that Singapore was really super boring. Most of what Singapore has, Malaysia also has, and even far better than them. Moreover, their tourist areas are mostly artificially created. It's really boring. Therefore, Malaysians generally don't go to Singapore for travel. Most of the time, they go there for work. Malaysians generally prefer to travel to Thailand, especially to Hatyai and Phuket island.

It’s unfair to say that SG is boring as MY is x450 times larger. If you compare the same built-up size of both the countries’ city area or attraction points, there is even more to explore in SG. Don’t use the word artificial, even the 7 wonders of the world were also man-made, none of the cities in the world are natural. Its true that most Malaysians don’t prefer travelling in SG, since there are high similarities between both countries and it is also damn costly. Both nations have strong brotherly ties, your comment against our neighbour is incorrect & inappropriate.

Food is also inexpensive even at restaurants not just hawker centres. . As far as I'm concerned the o ly expensive thing is alcohol which is extremely expensive for whatever reason I do not know.
