Margery, there's a strange man in the garden photographing those old boats' flaking paint, again.
Can't stop laughing at "I'm basically a creep in a tunnel", then the "Yeah, he's the one" look & little nod as the guy walks past, to get the pull-zoom shot! Priceless!!
I’m currently in Skye looking out on grey nothingness and horizontal rain. You can go to an epic landscape and it can be swathed in cloud and rain. I now feel I can go out and find something to shoot. Thank you for the inspiration and enthusiasm!

Have fun - I hope you get some nice shots. I will never forget my trip to Elgol in Dec 2021 - the cloud was so low and thick, there was zero visibility of the Cuillin Mountains. I recall taking a couple of long exposures of the rocks that stand some ten metres off the beach. But still a wonderful and atmospheric place. I wish I was there.

Sure you’ve already thought of this, but the fairy pools are best in those conditions!

@@RossMDavidsonthank you for the thought. Tried there earlier in the week, ironically quite dry!
Best video i have watched in years to give inspiration. Living in Scotland we get a lot of "dull damp nothingness" Today is another of those days, you have however inspired me to get off my backside and get out and do something. Thank you...
Great to see you do something different coz let’s face it, when we have a day off you can guarantee the weather in the UK isn’t always perfect. Having some fall back ideas is great. Thank you 🙏🏻 👍🏻

Yep, it's almost guaranteed 😂
Back to the old Heaton, congratulations, you've found yourself again 👏🏻
4:39 the Bicyclist riding out of the pedestrian tunnel is brilliant
I believe the life-ring is the best capture you've done so far this year, to-date. That was really something.
After 6 months of almost constant greying and rainy weather, it's almost impossible to keep your spirits and motivation up, so it takes more than a short and shouting video to help!
You never disappoint Thomas, you always produce images that i love every time.
Those underground images in Budapest are awesome - I great change of direction - more please ?
If I had that awesome landscape I wouldn't mind the weather either. Great pictures
i absolutly love shooting in conditions that's challenging it can only make you better photographer and make you realy get intament with your creative prosses .
Thanks for all the tips. Beautiful shots! My favourite was the minimalist photo around 13:30
I'm an aspiring photographer and from watching a fair amount of your videos you've inspired me to be more creative with my photos and the different compositions I use! Love the videos ❤

The last seascape took my breath away! Thank you for this different video full of ideas for ‘nothing weather’ which we have endured for so long. I am going to South Uist soon and you have given me lots of ideas to go out even when the weather is nothing.

Your last photo is to me, by far the best. Thanks from Canada.

@@ThomasHeatonPhoto Well it did and it's a wonderful and powerful image. Thanks Thomas.
Love how high-level your tips always are! In the sense that it could be applied regardless of what "type" of bad weather there is
That was so inspiring! Thank you.
Loved the tunnel image amd the mono waterfall and final inage Thomas. Any day to be out with the camera is still a good day in my book.
Well done - your enthusiasm is catching
Interesting and inspiring video as usual! That said, dull days are quite forgiving, the biggest problem is to get of the sofa. If I may, here is a suggestion for another video: "What to shoot on a sunny, cloudless day", subtitle: "How to work around the lack of drama" I really struggle with sunny days, photography-wise
@ThomasHeatonPhoto
2 ай бұрын
haha, that will be a challenging video. Haven't seen the sun in 3 months :) I appreciate the suggestion though. Fingers crossed the rain will stop so I can make it.

@@ThomasHeatonPhoto Hehe, I am a German living in México, so I have the opposite "problem". I love the fact that it is almost always warm and sunny. But I the hard shadows and lack of drama and mystery and even the infinite view are sometimes counter productive. I wish you some sunny days in the meantime :)
Great Video Thomas, very informative and gives great ideas to go out!
Great tips for dull winter conditions - I can relate. Thanks for sharing!
Great video Tom, I love your enthusiasm as always.
Great vid. You generated some sweet images. Very creative. And inspiring. Thank you!
Buckets of inspiration. Thanks 👍🇬🇧🙂
Great video Thomas. Extremely helpful ideas.
Good job, just what I needed!
I really like the picture of the waterfall! Beautiful!
It's always a pleasure to watch your KZread videos Thomas. Lots of enthusiasm for photography and nature. Very inspiring. Thanks!
Great shots, great tips, thanx.
Great stuff. Thanks a lot.
I love your photos, minimalist photography is perfect for hazy weather
Really liked the life saver ring and wave over image. Thanks for the video.
Another great video Thomas. It's given me a lot of inspiration to get out on those type of day's as normally i wouldn't bother as long as it is not pouring down with rain. Great image's as usual. Look forward to seeing your next video.
Thanks that was a great video. It got me excited for photography again
Brilliant video, fantastic ideas, and beautiful images! Your videos never fail to inspire my photographer's spirit!
Wow, great photos from a man having fun and enjoying himself, excellent 👍
Cracking stuff, lovely images and a different take. Such a useful video, it helps keep the photography absorbing and inspiring. Keep them coming. It's so obvious the thought and care you put into this work. It's very much appreciated.
Somehow I like these videos and pictures even more than the touristic bright great landscapes of Island etc. Keep up the good work!
Brilliant, really enjoyed this one. Great shots.
Useful video, thanks.
What a great set of reminders! Wish we had some tunnels like that in our town.
Very nice images, Tom. And an interesting change from your usual - NICE!
Awesome suggestions, I like shooting on rainy days, it can be peaceful and some of the light is amazing!
These are my favorite conditions, for all the reasons you mention. Love this kind of photos.
Great tips! That waterfall shot is spectacular!
Truly excellent Thomas. Very motivational too.
Great video, one of your best . Thabks
Another great video, Thomas. Some necessary motivation and inspiration for me. Thank you.
Some very good and useful tips for bad weather days very inspirational love your images from the day.
Thanks for the ideas Thomas
Love the life ring shot
Your enthusiasm is so infectious it makes we want to charge outside with my camera and have a great time. Thanks as always for your great videos!
Agree on the Budapest stations. All different colours. Very cool to photograph. Must go back one day 👍
Brilliant and fun ideas!
Thank you!
The timing is perfect! I have an upcoming trip to a famously weather-challenged island. If I’m lucky enough to get good days, great, but I don’t want to waste any bad days thinking there’s nothing to shoot.
Great video man. Reaffirming a lot of things I like to shoot. 👍📸
Awesome stuff Thomas! Just need to get myself out into the Welsh drizzle!
I really enjoyed this video Tom, seeing as we are moving into autumn and winter here in Australia it gives me some great ideas for the coming months , thankyou.
Great tips and inspiration, loved it.
Well done on doing grim grim grim. The black and white images are superb, and I really liked the paint patterns on the old boats. Many thanks.
I love that you use square format a lot. It’s always been my favourite crop ratio as it is often more challenging to shoot. Thanks for the tip on the guide book, heading that way to get one, or two or…
I go out on days like that because if I don't go out at least once a week I get really fidgety and feel like I missed an opportunity that I can never get back. I have to take pictures once a week, even if the images are rubbish.
Brilliant ideas. Proof that there is always something you just have to think laterally. Thank you.
Holy Island, Pedestrian Tunnel, Whitley Bay on a grey day.. I love it when you do local. Great stuff !
A very watchable and useful video. Cheers, Tom.
Good stuff. One part reminded me of a saying that my boss hates “because that is how it has been done”
I recently took my camera and tripod up onto the South Lancashire moors on a very wet and misty day and came home with some very satisfying, moody, misty monochromes. Now I look forward to that kind of weather.
Looking forward to seeing you at the photography show on Saturday
The person at 2:45, their smile after getting the video was so so sweet! I love this vid Thomas, inspiration for when i have nothing to shoot :)
As someone living in a grey Northern seaside town, this video was exceptionally helpful! thank you!
wow Howdon my old home town crazy never thought a would see you there.
Im a beginner youtuber for fishing and nature photography etc but you're inspiring me to try Landscapes and minimalist images. That last image of the post and pier was truelly stunning. Thanks Thomas 💙
Budapest has some incredible character for interesting images. You're making me want to go back with your photos of the underground!
Making lemonade out of lemons. Great pics!
Great tips Thomas. Thank you
I really enjoyed this one and found it very helpful! You pulled off some amazing shots, especially that last one.
That last picture was phenomenal 😃 Good job, as always.
Great video Thomas! Some years a go I saw a photo of a black and white image of a landscape with the foreground having some flowers in color. It was then I realized the value of using the contrast of color on a somewhat dreary day.
Just ordered the book with the discount. Thanks Tom. I'm near Alnmouth, so very handy!😊
Thanks Tom, I'm from your area and can't drive or walk too far, this book will help me with some nice locations, and great discount 😊

Have fun, there are some nice little gems in that book.
Thanks for the video. It’s cold and drizzly here in Wisconsin in the middle of march. But I’m off on a Monday and soon I’ll be heading out with my camera to see what the work has to show me.
Thanks Thomas - very inspirational ! Plus I'm off to Budapest soon so will checkout the underground. Plus tomorrow's means to be wet so I shall go for a wonder in the murky grey day :))
Maybe motion blur of the twig in front of the black fiberglass could produce an interesting photograph. Thanks for all your inspirational videos!
The underground tunnels in Stockholm are very beautiful!! Maybe look into that one😃 love the video, happy weekend!
Thank you very helpful. Fotovue books are excellent.
Thanks for the tips. Lately it seems that I get either blah conditions or clear blue sky when I have time to go out with the camera,
Thomas, that was a GREAT video! Love’n the content! Cheers!

Fantastic photo's, Thomas! And a very recommendable video for situations, where we after seeing you creatively handling this weather type, should just go out. I put the five idea's in my notes and look out for the first bad weather occasion, though it now seems to become spring time. Also good to go out! Thanks and greating, Bert. (abstract flower compositions I have tried before succesfully).
Great video Thomas, like a trip back to when I first started following you, and that's not a bad thing. Maybe more of this?
Great video and thanks for the code, I've just ordered the same book😁
The 3min exposure of the pillar and the sea bridge in the background is awesome! Really need to play around more with my ND filters.
Loved this video so much I've come back and viewed it again - sorry if that messes with your stats! It's easy to get put off by a flat grey day but this proves what a land of opportunity it remains. Brilliant
Some cracking ideas there Tom! Just moved to Tynemouth and recognised Whitley Bay straightaway! Must admit, I'm always very nervous of having my camera anywhere near water, especially the salty kind!!
Thomas, my favorite was the b&w of the waterfall but the b&w of the post with the pier in the distant background was a very close second. I admire your enthusiasm and creativity.

Thanks a lot. The post & pier shot came out better than I had hoped. It was a bit of a shot in the dark.
Thank you! I get more inspired and also learning more from this type of video then viewing a video from a remote location like Mongolia 🙂
wow. I always learn something new and fun from your videos. I started photography a little over a year ago. I was so excited to get outside and practice, but it was sooooo cold (Colorado in January). So we went to the train museum to practice. It was so much fun. There were models, and old trains and cars - even an airplane. There's always somewhere to play when you have a camera in hand. Thanks for the work you do.
