What to Pack to Thailand: Packing Guide

Struggling to feel confident around others? Check out my FREE GUIDE on how to STOP PEOPLE PLEASING: talishlafer.com/free-guide/
What to pack to Thailand for 2 weeks: Packing guide for a Thailand vacation (technically a women’s packing list, but let’s be real, anyone can rock a pair of elephant pants so this applies to anyone). Timestamps below.
In this video, I share a guide for what to pack to Thailand, with a twist - instead of showing you a pre-trip list of things I packed to Thailand, I’m instead unpacking my bags a week after returning home and sharing my lessons learned - what I used all the time, what I could’ve left at home, what was super useful for backpacking, and what I forgot to pack.
I’ll go over what I pack in my carry on, my day bag, my toiletries, my main backpacking backpack, and a few miscellaneous items. I’ll show you the tops, bottoms, and shoes that I packed, and what I actually ended up wearing. Since I’m a female traveler, some of my clothing tips probably apply more for a women’s packing list for men, but the principles, takeaways, and tips remain universal.
This packing list applies for anywhere between 2 weeks and 2 months of traveling to Thailand. Any longer than 2 months or if you go to other countries in Southeast Asia, you’ll probably want to approach packing with a bit more of a minimalistic approach. I traveled to Thailand in March, which is dry season. Note that depending on the time of year you travel, you may run into changing climates (wet season), especially if you're backpacking Southeast Asia and exploring other countries.

(Timestamps in description) I did something a little different for this video. Instead of recording it BEFORE my trip, I recorded everything AFTER my trip, so this is technically and UNpacking video. That means in addition to seeing everything I packed in my backpack, you're also getting insight about the stuff I ended up using all the time, what I forgot to pack and needed, and what I could’ve left at home because I didn't use it. Enjoy! Bonus points if you let me know what you found helpful ;)

Thanks for the tip on sunscreen! I wouldn’t have guessed it would be more expensive in Thailand.

This was super helpful, thank you! I wish everyone would do Un-packing videos, since after your trip is when you know what worked, what you used, and didn't use. I'm hoping to go to Thailand next winter, and thanks to videos like yours, and a few friends who have been to Thailand already, I think I'll just pack a couple changes of clothes then go shopping lol. I'll definitely be taking sunscreen, insect repellent, and aloe vera gel with me though. Again, very useful, helpful video, Thanks!

Woohoo! So glad to hear it! I honestly wasn't even really intending to make this video until I actually got to Thailand and realized how little I used some of the clothes I brought with me. Hope you have an awesome time there and get yo'self some elephant pants!

pack underwear if you're bigger than a thai (which most of us are...). I bought XL underpants. unfortunately they were covered in a plastic box and I couldn't see the real size. Thai XL is very small for westerners. I finally found some at a tesco lotus :)

Tali Travels i bought a very big box that stays in Thailand. So the most Import clothes are already there. It fills up more every year so i don’t have to rebuy everything when i once move there forever. Oh and btw. I wear elephant pants, too. Ok, not all if them have elephants painted on it. But i don’t care what others think if a guy wears them. I think its not only a girl thing. You keep the makeup ( which you don’t need), i keep my funny pants

Great ideas!!...the elephant pants are one size only? ( they are plus size friendly?)

I guess you can say they are one size only! But TBH, they're all manufactured by different people, so some run bigger, and others smaller. I have three pairs and one of them is pretty tight while the other two are loose and roomy. My friend wears plus sizes and was able to find some!

You didn’t have an issue with going through security with OTC and prescription medications in little baggies instead of in their bottles?? If not, this is good to know! 🙏🏼

I've done this for as long as I can remember and never had an issue. Disclaimers: This is probably not something security would officially endorse. Also, I've never had my stuff checked other than the x-ray, so I don't know if they'd give me a hard time if security had to physically look through my stuff. More disclaimers: I've mostly traveled in first/second world countries where I (English speaking white brunette female) don't really stick out. I know others may tend to draw more attention and scrutiny based on their ethnicity and/or appearance. On the flip side, I can imagine that some countries where bribery is more common may pose a problem if security guards are basically looking for a reason to pull you over.

You're not wrong, but most people have a limited amount of time when they're traveling and already have a lot of what they need, so it's a lot more effective to bring what you know you need with you rather than spending your precious time trying to find it in a foreign store. That's the point of a packing guide :)
