Some great tips which I will use on my next (4th) InterRail. Quick question - what's a good weight in kgs to aim for in Summer and Winter please? ( I have a tendency to overpack - apart from when I make 3 night trips to Eastern Europe by plane when I maange everything in my standard size Fjallraven, Kanken !) Ta la ( you sound Scouse like me !)

I just ordered the Gonex Packing Cubes they literally fit the Osprey Fairview perfectly. Exactly what I've been looking for :)

Hello. Thank you for all the tips. One question, where do you leave the backpack in the train? I heard that there is a compartment but I dont know how safe it is. Can you have your backpack with you in your seat, like, below your seat or between your legs?

If you’re in a seat I’d either leave it above my head or between my legs on the floor. It might be worth taking a bike lock to lock it to the seat as well, then in sleeper trains often there is a compartment above the bed 😁

I've never actually had to use mine but I have heard of people needing theres so I would say its better to have one and not have to use it rather than not have one and end up needing it :)

I have seen the sleeping bag liner in several videos and somehow it seems as though one person started it and the others just thought: "Might come in handy". But almost always this is accompanied by "didn't use it after all but brought it just in case" Due to this I have decided to save the money. If at some point of my trip there will be a bed I'm not willing to sleep in without the liner, it will probably be dirty enough to make me avoid sleeping in it at all...

Hey, do you think the 55l backpack from osprey is too big/small? Do you think I can go for a 40l backpack or is it better to chose a bigger one and have some more extra space if I need it?

The 40l is an excellent option for flights as you can use it as carry on luggage, however for longer trips I do recommend a slightly larger bag (55l has been perfect for me so far) :)

dont know if u mentioned it, but a padlock is a good idea as well :)

They’re perfectly fine on hiking trails unless any climbing is involved. Any sport trainers would be too risky for any technical hiking.
