    So much comprehensive and helpful info, thank you! I bought a set of linen sheets a year ago and only paid about 500aud, as soon as I slept in them it was so comfy which means it's a linen blend and a good marketing job for the company, though they do wrinkle too much. Think I'll go back to cotton. Can't go wrong with that.

    Good linen will get softer with time and will relax so it will be less prone to wrinkle, but it still wrinkles. We think cotton is the best choice. Thanks for watching. Be sure to check out our 150 + "How to Videos" here www.verolinens.com/how-to-luxury-bed-sheets-linens-tips/.

    I sell high quality bedding, and it gets old explaining to people why our sheet sets are "only" 330 thread count (supima, sateen). I can't tell you how often I've heard "I only buy 800 thread count or higher, and they don't even cost as much."

    thoughts on Flax, or flax cotton blends? I live in hot climates and i find that I love my 70/30 flax cotton blend sheets the flax seem so much cooler in bed than my 100% cotton

    Flax is a cooler fiber. High quality linen/flax sheets are quite expensive. Flax also has a course feel that some don't care for. But it is cooler.

    So whatever cotton you're using versus Egyptian, pima, and supima? How is yours better than those? I only saw a glancing fact but read that the only difference is geography, rather than quality. Also, of those I believe I'm looking for a sateen weave over percale, are there any other major weaves that have an effect on quality or feel? Is the softness of a cotton sateen sheet equivalent or better than silk?

  • @Verolinens

    @Verolinens

    4 жыл бұрын

    We use many different species of cotton, however, the cotton we use is not based on the species i.e. Egyptian. This is because, even if your sheets say they are Egyptian Cotton (and there is a very good possibility that they may not), speaks nothing to the quality or grade of that cotton. Rather our cotton is selected based on fiber length, diameter, color, tensile strength, and other attributes. As far as other weaves, there are many, Jersey Knit, Oxford, Flannel, Twill, and others. Sateen and Percale are the two most widely found in bed sheets. As far as a comparison of Sateen to Silk, it is going to depend on the quality of the cotton and the quality of the silk.

    Thanks for the video. Just a FYI, satin (like sateen) is a weave, not a textile.

    Jay you may be correct according to Wikipedia - - however some indicate Satin is either silk or polyester. We will need to look into this further when we redo this video in the future - Check out our 150+ bedding tips here - www.verolinens.com/how-to-luxury-bed-sheets-linens-tips/

  • @Verolinens

    I don't have too much of an opinion on them. They are likely warmer than a Steen or percale sheet. I have no evidence to support this, but I think they would wear faster and would be more prone to pilling.

    I have a pillow top mattress that has 13 in Depth, will any deep pocket fitted sheet work or do I need to find one that is exactly 13 inches? Most of the ones I find say 16in. And I feel like that would be too big and not fit tight.

  • @Verolinens

    @Verolinens

    Жыл бұрын

    You likely will not find a fitted sheet that is the exact depth of your mattress. Additionally, you want some fabric to tuck under the mattress. Most manufactures produce deep pocket sheets, which means you might have 3 to 4" of fabric to tuck, this should not cause an issue. Cotton percale is a cooler fabric than cotton sateen. Silk's and synthetics can be hot as they don't breath well. Linen is cooler than cotton, but may don't like the way it feels. Be sure to check out over 150 bedding tips found here -www.verolinens.com/how-to-luxury-bed-sheets-linens-tips/

    Silk doesn't breathe? You serious?

  • @Verolinens

    @Verolinens

    4 жыл бұрын

    It doesn't breath as well as cotton. Silk is not super-absorbent because it's a protein fiber - it comes from an animal (the silkworm) whereas linen or cotton are vegetable fibers that absorb. Silk is the lightest fabric though, and it tends to adjust to your body temperature, which is also why silk can be worn to keep you warm in the wintertime.

    Great pointers. Who on earth irons their sheets? That’s pretty ridiculous and a little too anal-retentive. It’s a bed that no one but you and perhaps a spouse are going to see! Spend your time doing something important. I won’t be paying $300 or more, for bedsheets, either. Less expensive ones are good enough. Oh, and don’t buy anything that’s made in China. Period! That includes sheets, or anything else. Look at the labels. WHAT the CCP is doing to this world is horrible. Please don’t support them by buying their products.

  • @Verolinens

    Many people iron their sheets. Some send them out or have their house cleaning person iron them. What ever works for you. As far as $300 plus sheets, they may not be for everyone. Good sheets can be expensive, but they typically last longer and feel nicer than inexpensive ones. Many share your sediments on China.
