WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A 4 YEAR OLD

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A 4 YEAR OLD
Hi! My name is Anna and every week I summarise a parenting book or self help book - specifically focusing on the best books every parent should buy or read following positive parenting philosophy and ones that have made a positive difference in my life.
My goal is to help other busy parents get the tools and strategies they need to improve all relationships in their lives. Because let’s face it, reading parenting books is often at the bottom of our priority list when we are juggling so many things in our life!
This week’s video discusses ‘Your 4 Year Old’ book summary by Louise Bates Ames. This book is part of a whole series as part of the Gesell Institute of Human Development where they studied thousands of children from birth to 16yo over 100 years. So whilst this book was written in the 70s and has some references that are outdated (like all mums being SAHMs), children haven’t changed. This is an excellent resource to understand what is developmentally appropriate at 4, what to expect from a 4 year old boy or girl.

Three and four are fun ages. My sister is the youngest of four siblings who are way older and she turns four next month. I’d say she’s way ahead of the curve when it comes to bathroom words😂

4 is such a great age, ready and eager for lots of adventure. So much easier and more enjoyable than 3.5!

Hello... I am a 34 year old man who is dating a single mom with a 4 year old girl. I am learning how to recognize real boundaries and the difference between jealous behavior and a genuine emotional distress. As I continue to build trust and affection with this new child, I appreciate the ability to learn more about her psychology so I can be a better adult figure in her life. Thank you for the content.

Disregulation is when your child is acting out with their behaviour. Regulation is when they are calm

No it doesn't. It's the French in me, we usually revert to masculine when we discuss a subject with no gender preference. I should have said 'they'.

Please help. My daughter will be 5 in September. Since she was 4 she started writing numbers, adding and subtract simple numbers, she speaks in 2 languages fluently (Armenian and Chinese) (and is learning english very well), Sings songs, memorizes the words quickly. We live in China as foreigners. She's been going to kindergarten since 2.5. She's a sensitive kid, but very smart and she's been doing well until we went back home for a month and since we've been back she's had major anxiety about going to kindergarten. She's been crying since the nigh before about not wanting to go to kindergarten. It's been more than a week, she'll cry untill the nap time,l she'll have nausea, she'll say her tummy hurts, makes the teacher call us and asks us to take her home histerically crying, but as soon as the nap time is over, she's happy and after kindergarten she's fine and happy. I don't know how to help her. Is there any advice you can give me? The teacher is advising us to move her to a younger group, where they play more and study less. But her problem is not her studies, She picks up new knowledge very quickly and I think she will be bored there. AndI'm afraid changing her environment will make her more reserved and shy and not cooperative. What should I do? Please help me. ❤❤❤

Also I want to note, that when she cries in class while the teacher is teaching the class, the other teacher will take her out not to disturb other children, and this tends to make it worse for her. Even if the teacher speaks kindlu, she thinks it's a punishment, but she can't stop herself from crying in class too. So I don't know what to do about that too.
