I feel stuck because the stroke isn't the only battle. I now get seizures because of the stroke; they are low volume and mild but still something that occurs as a result of my stroke. I have made a lot of progress since my stroke, but I can never live a "normal life" again. I also suffer from fatigue and anxiety. Not being able to move my toes and fingers causes anxiety. I'm starting to learn to accept things and just let it be. I will keep trying but I no longer expect much. I had just got a new job before my stroke, a new car, 3rd degree black belt in Taekwondo. I can no longer work, drive, swim, play video games, etc. because of the stroke and seizures. The AVM rupture robbed me of my way of life.

Thank you for the great video. I am stuck. I had two strokes in one day going on three years ago June 29th. At first I couldn’t walk I couldn’t talk and my right arm was just hanging down. I didn’t know back then that I couldn’t even feel my right arm. Then I walked really fast. I talking really well now. Sometimes I get stuck on a word and if I get stuck on it I’ll repeat it over and over until I get it. My right arm started to move about a month and two weeks after my stroke. Now I can move it well and the feeling of hot and cold came back really well also. I can grip things with my right hand but I have to be looking at the object because I can’t feel my fingers. I can feel some parts like right underneath my nails when I test them out that hurts! But that’s a good thing. And every time I get my nails done, once a month, I feel a little bit more each time but when I say a little bit I mean a little bit. I do use of 4 pound weight on my right wrist to strengthen my right arm. It’s a bit shaky. I know I’ve come a long way and I’m lucky I’m alive. But I am depressed. The doctors tell me that they don’t know if my feelings will ever come back they say everybody is different. They also say that my feeling can come back but it takes a long time. I know this, but it doesn’t help. I guess I just wanted to vent. Thanks for letting me! ✌💙

I understand all of this. I cannot feel anything on the entire left side of my body. From my toes to the top of my head and it's a really weird sensation trying to walk when you can't feel the ground under your feet or when you're taking a shower and you can only feel the water on one side of your body

@@legineacahill4785 yes that’s a hard one! I hope you get your feeling back. It’s just such a weird feeling. People can’t explain it unless it happens to them. No one would would want anything to happen like that to anybody else. Do you mind if I ask you how old you were when you had your stroke? How long has it been this way for you? I had my strokes at 54 years old. They say that that’s young. The worst part is the doctors can’t tell anybody who had a stroke if they’re gonna walk, talk, move one side of your body etc. it really is frustrating. I’m sure you feel the same way. There’s really not a lot of research all these doctors do on strokes. I guess all we can do is hang in there, hoping to heal! ✌💙

Today is one of those days where I'm feeling really sad and depressed. The WHY ME factor is kicking in hard. All I wanna do is cry. Everything I do of late isn't working out I keep getting kicked down. Been trying to push my catering business but because I can't be out there marketing myself is extremely tough !!!

Not sure if it applies to everyone who has had a stroke. The emotional Rollercoaster sucks. Pacing myself through recovery has been the best healing Instrument. I at first tried so hard to pick up the peices of who I thought I was. It put me in a huge energy deficit day after day that I would shut down for days after and well... just become a monster. Take it slow and schedule in breaks where you can close your eyes, no sound and a dark safe quiet space where you can allow your head to file things away. Your every stroke is unique, but there are many of us that are feeling different. Accepting the new you and going one day at a time is very beneficial. Find things that are gratifying, get that dopamine up! Happy recovery 😊

I would say this on those days that you feel like all you can do or want to do is cry then go ahead and cry. Sometimes the emotion just demands to be felt what that means is when you want to laugh laugh laugh loud and hard and when you feel like all you going to do is cry sometimes you just got to cry. Then after you have a good cry you just get back up and start laughing again on purpose and then you will see did the laughter feel so much better than the crying. And what I mean on purpose is even if the tears are in your eyes you just start laughing uncontrollably and eventually your life that will come naturally. Best of luck to you

Hemorrhagic stroke 2 years ago. At first I couldn't sit up, on the edge of the bed. I was immobilized for 1.5 months. Now I can walk, but I still have a wrong walking pattern. I also use my left hand as much as I can, I at least try to help myself with it. I do physiotherapy 2 hours a day with a physiotherapist. Thank you very much for the exercises and explanations provided, I am trying to make a more consistent routine at home as well. What exercises can you recommend to control the thigh more while walking? I have hip rotation (I think it's called thigh circumduction while walking. I guess I need to strengthen my knee and pelvis control. Your recommendations would be very helpful. Thank you! I'm very grateful for all your work!

I feel stuck because I was 137 lb at the time of my stroke and now I am 325 lb which is causing a lot of other issues. And about the whole bicycle topic or getting anything that is adaptive is incredibly expensive. Like I bought two different type of tricycles and I cannot read either one of them which means I wasted the money in Lord knows insurance does not want to pay for anything at least not when you're on Medicaid you're stuck trying to pay for stuff yourself and then for it not to work for you is really disheartening

@radhika7847 Great question! Depending on what you're cooking, you could buy pre-cut veggies/fruit, even though I know it's not very cost-effective. If you have someone else in the home with you, you might ask them to cut up what you need and you do the rest. You could try cutting with your unaffected hand using an adaptive cutting board, too!

Is it normal to develope De Quervain's Tenosynovitis after stroke? After 2 years it seems MORE issues appear, rather than getting ANY relief. Not to mention I also have carpal tunnel (old injury). Anyway, this pain & stiffness is HORRIBLE. Showering is TORTURE. Even other hygienic needs I have begun doing with my left (non affected) hand. It just hurts TOO much 😔 I am sorry, I have given up hope of EVER recovering 😢

Don't give up Tina, what this girl is saying is true. I suffered a right frontal perietal lobe heammorhage in Aug 2020. My recovery so far, has been slow, painful, frustrating, scary, demoralising and I've felt like you do right now many times. Spasticity and fatigue has at times (like the last couple of days coincedently) been soooooooo bad that I've considered just giving up (or worse). As this girl says 'just look back to where you were and realise how far you've come'. Just remember that 'any biological entity (including humans) will always try to achieve 'homeostasis' which means endeavouring to return to a state where it can operate/function effectively in it's environment'. I was a biologist (zoologist) in my life before, this keeps me going. We've had an injury to our brains, neurons especially brain ones are incredibly complicated and therefore need far, far longer to recover than other cells in the body. Just take it one day at a time love, good luck and 'take care of yourself' ok.
