    It seemed like such awkward spaces, but you made it work beautifully. You had mentioned about the post office in the Industrial area. When I lived in the city, I discovered a post office in the middle of an industrial area. It had a parking lot, and nobody went there so I could do my mailing and shipping with ease. No lines. It was a bit of an adventure driving though it with all the trucks, and it was quite fascinating to see the old rusty abandoned factories next to the warehouses.

    3:55 I'll explain poorly, but to fix road height easily, you dig a deep hole under your overpass and then build it. It will turn out straight. No need to play with height that way. And you just have to refill the hole afterwards. I cant figure out how to explain it in a better way but it work really well. Hope you try it and find out by yourself. A true life-changer.

    I’ve got the opposite problem with my build right now….insatiable residential demand. I’m playing on console, everything unlocked, but basically manually placing every asset by playing whack-a-mole with zoned areas (it’s quite painful)….and I’ve come to realize, doing residential is quite boring. I have all kinds of ideas for different industrial, commercial, recreational, tourist, and service areas, but my residential demand never ends. With all my manually selected zoned buildings, I’m terrified of my historic buildings being abandoned en masse because of lack of workers, or land value. I already had half a neighbourhood abandon because the buildings upgraded to level 5, but then complained about land value. Had to re-place all those buildings. I think once I finish certain urban residential areas and move onto the suburbs, I’m going to cave and just accept whatever zoned residential stuff comes in, so I can focus time and energy on custom builds for areas that actually interest me. Love the use of the police box with the median. Im definitely copying that!

    Absolutely love your episodes. So creative. When industrial wants parks, the parking lots work well, but I found that basketball courts also work great, and I think that's more the kind of break time recreation workers might want.

    If it wasn't for spaghetti, I'd never be able to build an interchange! 😂 Somehow you make it look great. Little pockets of industrial scattered around look better than mass zoning in one area. I don't think any of the waterfront assets like the ferry depot will sit on the tree-lined quay. The off-set breaks up the grid nicely, though.

    Candy what is your opinion about CS2? I think there are some gameplay improvements but the graphics aren't that great, actually worse than CS1. A lot of stuff seems untextured (especially the roads and buildings) and the LOD seems way to aggressive.

  • @fewcandy

    @fewcandy

    9 ай бұрын

    Yeh I'm very mixed... road tools are excellent but there's some oddities and they behave quite different to CS1 so it take a bit of getting used to, but a really excellent foundation and big big improvement on that one, including the rail networks too, excellent excellent stuff. But I'm not keen on the whole look of the game, it is quite untextured in a lot of places, plus it's very washed out to me and grey as a whole, maybe more realistic sure but less fun to look at when playing honestly, plus I don't like the fact they've done away with the different map themes, that's a massive loss to the game in my opinion. Beyond that, the new additional gameplay mechanics are nice, drawable fields in particular a super touch, but they need some work on the textures and random spawning buildings. I personally will still be playing CS1 for likely quite a long time to come, for my gameplay style right now its much more fun to play, and look at.

    @@fewcandy I completely agree. They have made a system where you can expand buildings and then mess up so badly with so many industry buildings. Why not being able to expand the farm manually with silos and barns or have tractors/combines drive around the farm and fields? Who thought it was a good idea to let buildings spawn in the middle of fields? Did they ever visit a farm? As for the field textures they just seem like one big colored textureless square. The buildings look bland and the roads look much worse than in CS1 because they are just grey textures, especially the pedestrian parts. Zebra crossings also seem wonky like you mess up too hard with anarchy/move it. Buildings from CS1 content creator packs/workshop look so much better than CS2 buildings. Even buildings from later official expansion packs look better (when the resolution of the textures increased). There is just no ambiance/charm at all. I really don't understand why you need a 3080 to run this game while vanilla CS1 runs on a potatoe. The only graphical thing that is better are the shadows and the cars look slightly less toy-ish.
