    How did you go about tracing out all of the circuits and splices? I'd love to see a video on how to do that, especially after the drywall's up.

    Great video Josh. Always enjoy watching your videos. I can't believe all of the negative haters out there. Have you ever considered teaching at a trade school? You are a great educator and the next generation of electricians could benefit from your knowledge.

    The trip curve on the main may well be different than the branch...especially the instantaneous trip. Just because a branch is a lower value, it doesn't mean it is the most sensitive in terms of short current. To trip a 200A(or whatever) main and not trip the 20A branch breaker is not unusual and not unexpected.

    Another excellent review Josh. It's a shame that you have to know your audience like that. I have been learning " home " wiring since I was a toddler and it amazes me why half the developed world hadn't burned to the ground caused by substandard residential electrical service. I'm talking 8 circuit 60 amp. fused load panels here. I'm here to follow your dalliance into the 2020 NEC revision. Along the way you are a competent knowledgeable educator. You won't catch me rattin' U out ! Cheers.

    This is kinda off topic to the video but I gotta ask. Where is the strangest place you’ve ever seen a sub panel? For me it was an FPE panel in a lower kitchen cabinet directly under the cooktop. I removed that panel and consolidated it with a different panel that was in a linen closet with a new panel in the hallway. Homeowner told me that a circuit had tripped in that panel and it took him months to find it.

    when you Drive your two ground rods, what is your maximum allowed resistance to ground ? over here in the UK, we have to be below 200 ohm. it can be hard to achieve sometimes if the soil conditions are poor.

  • @R900DZ

    @R900DZ

    You can have only one rod if you can prove less than 25 ohms resistance on it, otherwise you must have two and the ohms are not tested- they just have to be 8 feet each and at least 6 feet apart with 6 gauge wire.

    I didn’t catch the answer. I too have a dishwasher tied in with two bathrooms, bedrooms on the opposite side and some garage lighting. Since last storm, I lost one breaker and the associated main and due to age I swapped them out first with no issues and replaced all the 15a (subs). There has since been flickering all over the house, a week later I tripped a new different breaker but not the main. The breaker didn’t even show tripped. It’s a 1956 house, all Romex with ground, Square D shunted(?) panel - I have a few mains, with sub breakers in same panel.

    Builders take short cuts in new builds too. My mon bought a brand new house in the 90’s. Every time the a/c kicked on, it would cause my computer to restart itself. Pretty sure that should be a non issue in any modern home.

    Lots of work for just a quickie remodel, but you are a man with a plan! Gotta ask how you get through an inspection now without the room for arc-fault breakers? Not clear on the code. Are they only required after a new service is installed? BTW, the only fault I find with your videos is the audio. You really need a mic clipped to your collar so the sound is more consistent. (yes, they are some made to work with a cell phone cam)
