totally agree! the college process and “top” schools are completely overrated. Many people want to go to these schools because of the name brand, not really the school itself. Then, you might have to realize that this isn’t the school for you, and that’s okay. The college you go to doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things... it’s what you do at the school and what you make of the educational opportunity you have that determines your future. Best of luck to everyone getting their decisions back right now :)

Thank you for this! I have just been notified that I was not accepted to the school that I have been wanting to go to for so long. It hurt a lot and I don’t understand why I was not accepted. But you’re video made me feel a little bit better about the options and opportunities that I still have.

Don’t go to your dream school and take on massive amounts of loans. I recommend going to a college good enough where they give you the most financial aid with less loans like a state college.

My “dream” school rejected my early decision application the day BEFORE my interview due to a “mix up” I showed up the next day and the woman in charge Lisa turned me away. One of the worst things that happened to me.

i love how much she emphasized that community college is a good option and its what you make of it that's important.

You should do a video listing people who became successful even from going to community college. It will give us a lot of hope!!

If you want a Dream Career you have to look for the university with the most people who do your Dream Career.(Calarts=Disney/Pixar Animator).

I didn't have a dream school. Life is beautiful (did a Liberal Arts Selective Campuses Two rejections from extremely competitive ones) I always say Ivies are dream schools for everyone though.

YES YES YES. I've had a student APPEAL at UCLA from a flat rejection and get in with stats like yours. UCLA has 10-20% admit rate off the waitlist. Dig into that one! UChicago may also still be on the table. Write a letter. Write your heart out. It can happen. About 1/4 of my clients end up getting in off of a waitlist or after being deferred from an initial early pool.

I can attest to going to community college and transferring to my DREAM SCHOOL! I actually got into the university right after high school, but I couldn’t afford it. I spent 4 years at community college and saved a ton of money, built a life there through activities, kept my grades up, and received a scholarship to my dream university because of it! I’m finishing my degree at my dream school in May!

@@Gabriela-jg1bd You will! Keep your grades up and get involved in something you really love and excel in. That is what motivated me to do as well as I did in community college. Also, don’t be afraid to consider community college. Like I said, you’ll save a ton of money taking classes you’d be taking at university anyway. Community college classes are also smaller, so you’re likely to get more hands on instruction and meet professors who are professionals in their field instead of a teacher’s assistant. It’s a great way to find a mentor when you need recommendations.

I tried #1 and they said NO, asked for feedback on my application so that I could improve for the future and they said NO, and then when she mentioned #2 I broke down crying because I've been wanting to do this one program for two years, and I didn't even make it past the first round when I KNOW I should have. Plus my friend who applied and had way less ECs and her average was lower made it past the first round! I've been treated unfairly and I think I have a hunch as to why (my past employer is tangled up with the organization and we ended off on a bad note). This other girl I know got rejected last year 2nd round and asked for feedback and they gave it to her! LIKE CAN I SUE THEM SERIOUS QUESTION.

I was rejected by most selective schools as a freshman because my high school grades weren't impressive and my SAT was just a 1470. So, I decided to apply for a transfer with a 35 on the ACT and 3.52 GPA as a Physics major during my first semester. I was rejected once again despite having good essays and what I thought was a decent profile. I'm quite broken now, and I don't know what my path entails now as I'm not very happy at my current institution. Any advice? :(

You can try again and try to improve your gpa to maybe a 3.7, I think that will make it more possible!!! Never give up!!!!

How can you apply for graduate school without a four year bachelor's degree.

I am applying to a IB program in my home country back in Finland. The problem is they want my year 8 and 9 grades. Why you ask? Well my year 8 was a total failure. I didn’t care about school for two semesters where I got a stage grades and then the third semester I didn’t even get my grades due to Covid. (3rd semester was my best semester). Now I am in year 9 and my grades are all A and B and i have worked so hard. I am so scared to not get in because if I don’t I will need to go to a normal program and learn Finnish and Swedish since they are mandatory. Please wish me luck I am applying in March of 2021 🙏

@@shrutiriya8872 I can’t really tell you😅 It’s mostly what you think got you rejected. For me, I didn’t do so well academically my junior year. I noted this in my appeal letter, and in an attempt to comfort them that I was doing better, I noted my improvement and what steps I was doing to prove to them that I was on a better track.

not start yet that's your first step. Take the PACT your sophomore year for sure, then take the ACT before/ during your junior year.

IF you're very eager, you can get a couple books. A grammar book (I like Erica Meltzer's) and our Book 1: The Best ACT Prep Books Ever (Algebra) are a good place to start. Those sections have the most content. Reading/Science are strategy so you can wait a bit on those.

@@adventurous1019 I chose to go to UCSD because tuition was all paid except for dorms. Also it is far enough from home, I dont hate my family but I want some independence. Plus UCSD was my top school to go to, but I want to transfer to MIT or some other college if I get the chance to. Bottom line: the college you choose will be as good as you make of it. Have fun,make friends, make connection(those make your life easier). Also, challenge and push yourself to be successful or else you are like everyone else with a simple stable job and life.

Ivy = not good chances of an appeal unless something was wrong or missing in your application. (Or you've cured cancer). Email.

Don't trip, you need to get involved in extracurriculars or enroll at a community college and do dual enrollment and it'll balance out your grades.

pretty sure you'll still need to deposit to a school that you got accepted into just as a safety precaution but that shouldn't bar you from accepting an offer of a school you get off the wait-list at. @@laurenpeng6071

that's how the waitlist works. You lose your deposit at your 1st school if you get in and want to go to the school that waitlisted you.

i'm still in school, and this year i'm gonna have to apply to a high school for whatever career path i have chosen. it's one of the better schools in my town, and the path i want to take is the best in the whole school ( and it requires the most points ). it's lowest acception points are 70, highest 80 ( for all schools ), and i have 72 points. i'm really scared and stressing out all the time if i will get in it because i really, really want to and i'm trying to study hard in school. any tips on anything? edit : the reason why i'm stressing out is because there are people with much more points than me and in this school, it's not only people from my town that are applying, it's people from around the town and islands so i'm kinda worried. :(

Chidalu Maduewesi for some people, “The Ivies” is just a colloquial term for the top 10-20 colleges in the US

@@NolanJohnson423 So, they basically just want to get into the top schools and lump whatever school isn't an ivy into the ivy league category because they are top schools? That's like calling MIT an ivy lol. I mean I understand why they do it I just get triggered by it sometimes lol
