    Frank love your channel a lot! thanks for all the valuee provided! how about a video on the correlation of enneagram including instinctual variant , mbti , temperament , and most impartantly the archetypes? I'm more than certain i'm an Intj , i've studied the functions, and just found this subject to be very interesting! What I concluded is that ,all the other tests (along with the mbti) helped me gain much more insight on the human puzzle! my tritype is 854 which is rare for an intj, so I had to dive deeper into all that to gain a better perspective and i've come up with some theories about the subject as well! so I believe a video on this topic would be very valuable! Thanks a lot once again brother!

    @@barrydworak 16P actually says it themselves on their About page. I do wish that they would put it on the front page or in the results so the MBTI community wouldn't be so confused, but it explicitly says that it's a Big Five test but they wanted to use MBTI letters. They've changed: -Openness into Intuition -Low Openness into Sensing -Conscientiousness into Judging -Low Conscientiousness into Perceiving -Kept Social Introversion and Extroversion the same from OCEAN/B5, of course. -Agreeableness into Feeling -Disagreeableness into Thinking -And Neuroticism into their own Assertive and Turbulent modifiers. The reason that it still kind of works for SOME people is that the external behavior patterns measured by OCEAN can stem from the traits that 16Personalities assigned to them. If Thinkers are more concerned with concepts and ideas than they are with people and relationships then, sure, a lot of Thinkers would behave in a disagreeable way. If a dominant function is introverted then an MBTI introvert may spend more time keeping their own counsel than socializing. If an Introverted Sensor thinks there's a right way and a wrong way to do something then they would rank low on Openness in OCEAN and therefore also be labelled as a Sensor by 16Personalities. But since MBTI is about how your brain works, judging surface behaviors will often lead people astray in typology. Like, being a Thinker definitely doesn't mean you are innately a jerkface. Take it from a socially introverted ENTP that used to not care about how people reacted to uncomfortable truths but learned to grow and choose which hills to die on. Likewise, a Sensor might be inclined to prefer to do things the same way all the time but learn the value of experimenting and trying new things -- hell, xSTx types are heavily represented in the science community, and that's all about experimentation and innovation. So, you see how looking at the surface like OCEAN does can fail to predict Myers-Briggs type.

    When I answer multiple personality tests like I behave at work, I get INTJ every time. When I answer multiple personality tests like I behave at home, I get INFJ every time. The trick to this is that behavior is incredibly relative to environment.

  • @larsswig912

    it's not even a real mbti test, since it's based on behaviour it's exactly like a Big Five test. introversion and extroversion are openness, thinking and feeling are agreeableness, and the turbulent/assertive part is level of neuroticity, for example. it doesn't even consider the cognitive functions, which is what the real test is based on. however it's much better to look into the functions and figure out your type on your own.

    @@larsswig912 Oh that's exactly why I've taken multiple types of personality tests. I'm not just talking about 16Personalities or the free stuff when I say what I did; my results are pretty consistent across every type of MBTI test I've taken. The point still stands is that behavior is incredibly relative to environment. There will be trends in which cognitive functions you prefer in different situations, but extremely rarely will one set will define how a person reacts in all situations. People don't have personality types, they have personality preferences.

  • @larsswig912

    @larsswig912

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@ryanbarker3978 you've got a point. cognitive functions are more based on thought processes rather than behaviour, as I've observed. thought processes or the way you think, will affect your behaviour. but so will the environment. for example, you might prefer to speak up against injustice but the environment might prevent you from doing that, so you wouldnt do it. which means that the way people interpret questions can be different when it comes to personality tests (is this asking whether I would do it if I could, or whether I would do it regardless of any situation?) I suppose that's why people might get different results. so imo, it's best to just look into the essence of the tests (in this case, cognitive functions) and determine your own type yourself.

  • @ryanbarker3978

    @ryanbarker3978

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@larsswig912 Completely agreed. Also experiences shape thought processes and thought processes can absolutely be altered by experiences, which then can chain all the way down the line. The lonely kid who grew up socially rejected often experiences huge personality shifts when they finally figure out how to break out of their shell. Human beings have innate needs for control, acceptance, and consistency. When somebody doesn't have those three things healthfully balanced, it drastically alters who they are. This may seem like a tangent, but I point it out because most of the people you will meet these days will be off center on one of these three axes. Modern times are distancing young people more and more from each other every year, and if they're not careful, that can distance them from who they really are.

    I think both works, either one are a learning and self discovery tool anyway so why bother limiting yourself to a single option. In another perspective I see it as this way, if 1 site tells me a different result than another site, I maybe have something more to think about myself and discover a more definite way to define myself then maybe I'll get the same result in both test. I think it's fair to say each method have their own perspective and I'm interested to see how I can use it to reflect to myself. Don't you think it's boring if you only have 1 definite answer and perspective to define yourself? I think it is, from an ENFP XD

However, unlike Myers-Briggs or other theories based on the Jungian model, we have not incorporated Jungian concepts such as cognitive functions, or their prioritization. Jungian concepts are very difficult to measure and validate scientifically, so we’ve instead chosen to rework and rebalance the dimensions of personality called the Big Five personality traits, a model that dominates modern psychological and social research." Pasting this from mbti-notes, all the credit goes to that blog Hope it helps ;_; Dominant Ti (ISTP & INTP): Ti is a judging function that relies on a personal framework of knowledge Ti uses factual knowledge and skill to prevent/avoid/solve problems Ti uses mastery over oneself to achieve a state of self-sufficiency IxTPs are naturals at impartial assessment of facts and problems Healthy IxTPs are calm, capable, able to change as facts change Mature IxTPs are known for being masters of their chosen craft. They are relied upon for knowledge, expertise, and troubleshooting. At their best, they dissect and analyze situations with impressive confidence, precision, and accuracy, easily coming up with elegant solutions to problems. Immature IxTPs display the negative aspects of Ti due to overly reductive logic and excessively critical judgment, carelessly ignoring any information that doesn’t “make sense” to them. They tend to be loners, arrogant, dismissive, or inhospitable/irresponsible in their dealings with people. Signs that someone is NOT Ti dominant: isn’t aware of or doesn’t care about logical fallacies/contradictions afraid/wary of criticism; doesn’t like to be challenged on the facts relies heavily on routine, order, structure, or organizing to function easily confused; often suffers from conflicted feelings/emotions Dominant Fi (ISFP & INFP): Fi is a judging function that relies on personal feelings of congruency Fi uses feelings to derive value judgments about good/bad Fi uses feelings of integrity to encourage honorable character IxFPs are naturals at honest self-appraisal, authentic self-expression Healthy IxFPs are gentle, passionate, loyal, empathetic Mature IxFPs are known for caring very deeply, so their actions always align with their values. They appreciate individual uniqueness, advocate for moral causes, and defend the vulnerable. At their best, they keep people in touch with their humanity and encourage unconditional self-acceptance. Immature IxFPs display the negative aspects of Fi due to being easily misled/blinded by their feelings, perhaps unable to relate to things outside of their personal experience. They tend to be moody, alienating, and even self-righteous, treating their feelings as fact and unaware of their own biases. Signs that someone is NOT Fi dominant: weak identity; fuzzy moral judgment; no/few strong passions/preferences not very affected by the personal; able to function fine even if unhappy wary of intense feelings; more affected by others’ (than own) feelings poor emotional awareness; believes feelings are biased/unreliable

But since then a ton of things have changed, but I know so much abt Myers Briggs that I'm afraid I'm unconsciously skewing the results, and I'm also an overthinker, meaning I interpret the same questions a million different ways depending on the day. I also admire the Thinking over Feeling aspect, so I can't tell if I am more of a thinker, or if I'm a feeler trying to act like a thinker. So in short I'm probably still an INFP who overthinks everything until I don't know who I am anymore lol

    It's easier when you get old enough to look at yourself and what you've chosen to do, objectively. Can fix most anything, program computers with little formal training, curious about how things work, into action sports of all kinds, own a Jeep and a motorcycle, high awareness of environment, drive fast with one hand, like movement and practicing skills, find myself alone a lot. Can't emote for the camera. Have a hard time trusting my feelings even when I know I should. Uninterested in abstract meanderings but good with patterns. Don't really understand how to just "connect" with random people, good with dogs though. I tested INFP, ENFP when I was younger because I had no clue about myself other than the P which was obvious and the I which I was trying to fight against, since I grew up lonely AF. The idea that I was an NF type is just ludicrous to me now. I'm pretty damned obviously an ISTP - but again I had to get to where I could just observe myself, not project. 🙂

    T people ALSO have feeling..... They can be emotional and have strong emotions as well. They can even be empathic. They just choose to listen to the head over the emotion. That is a HUGE misunderstanding by the people who does MTBI reading. Being a T does not make you smarter or less emotional. It makes you choose rational thinking and solutions over acting on emotion or base on the feeling. You will go totally against your feeling if it sounds the right thing to do when you are T as listening to your feeling feel biased and not reliable enough for you.( I am not saying this is true, only the way it is perceived ). Also, an F people can be just as smart or smarter than a T. They will just listen to their feeling over a logical solution going against what they feel.

My interest was sparked and about 6 months later, through reading and more understanding, I more accuratly typed as INFP. I wonder how many of us mistyped as INFJ just because we were immersed in a daily activity and mindset that makes INFJs in flow and so the functions of an INFJ felt increased in us at that moment. I think more the former. People like INFJs are often interested in things like psychology and personality *and* tend to like organizing/systematizing, which typology helps do for human nature. On top of that, IN types in general are overrepresented on the internet. If 'socially correct' answers were such a big factor, I'd think that would skew things in a more extroverted direction.

I did it again after a time and got ISTJ, when I read it, I again felt like I didn't identify. When I took the 16 personalities test in 2016 my result was INFJ. When I did it again several times later the results were INFP. But then when I took this test in English (before I did it in my native language) the result was ISFP... 😂 But don't worry guys - I did a lot of other tests which gave me clearer results and invested time in getting to know the whole MBTI system better. I won't bash the 16 personalities test because it can give a good overview and I really like the avatars - but I think it is important to get deeper into the MBTI topic - the 16 personalities test just scratches the surface (in my opinion). So the cognitive Functions and the letters E/I N/S T/F P/J are important factors that are not really mentioned. Instead the -T / -A thing in mentioned that isn't really MBTI. I remember when i first got into MBTI i took multiple tests and as you may already guess, i got different results in each one, i got so confused because in one i got ESFP, in another one i got ENFJ and so on. Thats when i realized the importance of knowing the cognitive functions and i started to read and watch videos about it, and also i watched videos of how each cognitive function manifested in an specific personality type and after months of searching i finally got to the conclusion im actually an ENFP. So if any of you are still struggling with this dont worry, i will recommend to fr search about the cognitive functions by itself and how it impacts the way of acting in each personality type because sometimes this are way more accurate than just the main description on the personality itself.

    Frank love your channel a lot! thanks for all the valuee provided! how about a video on the correlation of enneagram including instinctual variant , mbti , temperament , and most impartantly the archetypes? I'm more than certain i'm an Intj , i've studied the functions, and just found this subject to be very interesting! but what i concluded is that ,all the other tests along with the mbti helped me gain much more insight on the human puzzle! my tritype is 854 which is rare for an intj, so I had to dive deeper into all that to gain a better perspective and i've come up with some theories about the subject as well! so I believe a video on this topic would be very valuable! Thanks a lot once again brother!

In the 16 personalities on being single, for example, I changed my comment 3 times and then I was like why would I overthink this? Let it be what it be, it's not a mental illness or something. as INTJ I will advice you to analyze your Ni whether is dominant (tendency to predict future, alternative results, being intuitive about someone's personality to rely on them for example, focus on your future etc) or you are more Si. I have personally come to the conclusion that intuitive people tend to be more visionary, we like to imagine what would it be if something happened, even if that thing is improbable to happen and that sort of things. But there it also a chance of having both Ni and Si extremely developed

    Great video! Also, forget about lists and articles like "things only INFJs understand" and forums/groups. I believe most of the online communities have mistyped members, so they can't give reliable informations about the type you think you are. Don't forget, most people who claim INFJ are just people who checked the "good" answers in online personality tests. I recently saw a video about an "INFJ" girl who said she take walks in the park in the mornings to see if a cat is stuck on the tree or an old person has to cross the road. It is nice and good, but it has nothing to do with your type. She can be an INFJ besides that, not because of that. Do you have a database of the facial expressions, gestures, tone and characteristics of the people who you have met earlier and trying to predict a fresh acquantance's habits and intentions by fitting them into this database by comparing their expressions, gestures, tone to the data you already have? Now that is something that talks about your type, not the fact you are a doormat for example. You have to find the mechanics of the type you examine and have to check if you do that.

    I'm tested as an INTP in college, I love knowledge, science, geography, history and culture as a student. I also like debates and competing with others. I'm a bit selfish too and hate anything nonesense like people going to the parties, drinking, talking nonesense and acting like crazy, like why would you waste your time on those activies? But later on when I became a teacher, I have nurtured my feeling side. I started thinking less of myself and had a desire to help and care for others. I was always emotional even when I was child but I supressed it because I lack social skills before, since I'm an introvert. I took the personality type test again and it classifies me as an INFP. Now I'm confused, am I always an INFP behaving like an INTP? Or an INTP with high emotional quotient? (sorry for bad english, english is my 3rd language).

    So here's an interesting thing, I've always been VERY enfj. I first took this test years ago and there was no question. I also have bipolar disorder that eventually became crippling and now I'm doing a lot better on medication. I'm finding that now, after finally building coping skills and finding out more about who I actually was underneath the delusions, depression, etc, that I'm pretty 50/50 enfj/p. I think when my life was incredibly disordered and constantly changing I really appreciated detailed planning and having some amount of consistency, but now I want to explore. I kind of like this blend because unlike many enfp's, I'm not only dreaming of all these crazy things but the enfj in me is actually making it happen. I'm excitedly talking to immigration services and plan to move abroad for grad school. I feel more in control and happy than I ever have in my entire life, and I'm looking forward to learning more about myself :) To anyone else who's switched types, what's your story?

  • @KingNedya

    @KingNedya

    2 жыл бұрын

    I'm kinda the reverse when it comes to when I was more about planning versus not. I originally tested as INTJ-A, and by the time I retook the test about 6+ months later (the recommended minimum time to retake the 16personalities test) I had undergone an absolutely MASSIVE life change to the point where it almost feels like I just entered this world and my life before the change was just some backstory someone handed to me, and I re-tested as INTP-A. Before, I was extremely organized, I had my life together, and I was confident to the point of arrogance and an over-inflated sense of self-grandiosity. After the change, while still greatly valuing planning, I found myself to be experiencing _extremely_ severe burnout (and maybe PTSD and depression), and I now lacked the motivation to actually go through with my plans, and I became disorganized. I felt like I was just being carried through the waters of life. After retaking the test again another 6 months later, I got INTP-A again, and only a few days later I took a different MBTI test for an AP Psychology assignment and got INTJ. By this point, I would consider myself to be both INTJ-A and INTP-A, I just switch depending upon the environment and situation I find myself in. I try to plan anything I can and I undertake huge projects that take years to complete (and even when I think I'm done I still go back and make changes to it; perfectionism is a blessing and a curse), but I also roll with the punches and drop or make changes to previously constructed plans as necessary, and I often abandon projects because others happen to catch my interest.
