For our 24 hour layover, we got an amazing discount on a 5 star hotel called Souq Al Wakra Hotel Qatar by Tivoli. A stunning hotel that we can't recommend enough. Other than that, we spent a few hours walking around the Expo 2023 Doha Qatar. Sadly, the different expositions were not completed and most of them were still closed. Something else to keep in mind, the expo is open but completely quiet during the day. No music, no shows, no entertainment. We are convinced that this expo will be amazing but going on it's 8th day was apparently too early. The Doha expo will be running until March 2024.
Finally, we had to visit the Mall of Qatar, the largest one in the country. Don't get me wrong, a mall is a mall and I would normally tell people to shop at home not while traveling but mall are truly part of the Middle Eastern culture these days and when it is close to 45 degrees Celsius outside, any place with A/C feels amazing!

You can pay by card and for the booking, you simply walk as you were walking out of the airport and just before the last exit, there is a Discover Qatar desk.
11:35 you were not joking about Qatar living in the future, the tiny cars are moving in that architectural display, I love it. I'm curious where the next world expo will be, I'd love to visit one. Youre next stop over in Qatar should be in winter 😀😀❤❤

Fair enough. Here are my thoughts, JKIA is the door for Kenya for the world. It needs a big reimagining both on the astatic side but also operation side. It is not normal that most planes are not able to connect directly to the airport even when the airport is empty. The airport also needs more staff and more lines. The new terminal only has 4 custom booths and I have never seen more than 3 agents there even at peek time. Same for security. This airport has to be a wow factor and a good experience for first timers!
