Having these in the residential areas seems to be very convenient. If I suddenly feel an urge to get a drink, and I don't have any in my kitchen - I can just walk outside and buy one from a machine.

There’s several restaurants and stores that sell food, snacks, candy, ice cream and more from Japan, and there’s also Daiso near my moms home. I bring back home snacks and tasty candies and a bag full of Daiso merchandise! Hello, Shinichi and Satoshi! I'm always so impressed by the vending machines in Japan. Even with the drink machines alone, there is so much more variety and thought put into the machines than we have here in the United States. Vending machines here are not as common as they were, but if you find one, it probably only sells soda and perhaps bottled water. It would be such fun to try these drinks.
