Was wondering if individual aqara hubs were required even with smart things update to include aqara products, this clears it. Thanks Alex. Great content as always. I just bought the aqara M2 Hub since I figured most of my switches and door lock uses it. Also understand the Aqara M2 Hub can act as an IR blaster while the smart things can’t. Does it still make sense to get a smart things then? Also, do you also recommend an RF like bond bridge to manage the fans etc? Somehow I also realised my Apple TV also doubles up as a HomeKit hub so seems like I have most of what I need already. Thanks in advance as always!

Great video!! Much appreciated. Is it possible to do a demo video where you connect the devices to the Samsung Smartthings Station hub? I bought the hub a week ago and can not connect any Aqara products to it. There are no QR codes, nor the scanning for devices "nearby" work. I try also tried connecting by "selecting from a list of devices," and the connection always failed. What I am doing wrong? There is not a lot of Smartthing Station help videos on KZread. Is that I already have my devices connected to my Aqara hub? Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks for a great video, I've been using ST for a few years now and sometimes its just frustrating as I'm really looking for an easy to use platform. I used ST, ActionTiles, Alexa and SonOff via IFTTT to get most things done. I had success using the Nodon smart switches but had to find drivers for that. In a new home now, i'm setting things up again and looking to use Dakboard instead of actiontiles, but I was wondering if you had experience with wireless switches to select scenes. Previously I used nodon for this which was great, like a hotel. But i'm looking for a new smart switch that can work. I bought Aqara, but that doesnt work, my ikea hub detects the zigbee switch but not ST. Which wireless smart switches to kick off scenes or automation do you recommend?

I really like your style of reviewing and educating your viewers who are looking for solutions and ideas for smart home setup. Super informative and direct. Actually I have sort of acquired a Smarthings hub and Google Nest hub and maybe I should just expand n that for my new house now, but I am very new to this smart home concept. I have some questions, 1. Do I have to install either a smart light or light switches or both to achieve smart controls? Not sure does both have to be smart or just either one of them. 2. Planning to install magnetic track lights system, but not sure if I will need all the modules to be smart modules or just the switch to be smart. It’s actually rather confusing with so many platforms, connectivity and devices to choose from. Making it rather difficult for beginners to take that initial step to SmartHome. Thank you so much for churning out contents like this! Keep it up!

I wonder if it's still worth the money to slowly upgrade my home to a smart home. Also, Can the recommended ir/rf controllers support different frequency? For example, my ceiling fans frequency is 423.22 Mhz and my RM pro controller isn't able to register them. I've been looking out for a controller than support wider range of frequency so I can control everythjng in my home.

I had the same issue with the Aqara legacy devices. These are the steps: 1. Go to ST Community to look for the right drivers for your devices. 2. Enroll the channel(s) and install the right driver(s). 3. Re-pair the devices. The newly paired devices might be assigned ZigBee Thing Driver. This driver's only purpose is to list your device in ST as a placeholder. 4. Select a different driver. Hi Alex! Can you make advanced automations with your samsung TV? Does smartthings know that the TV is on, off, running on specific Hdmi iinput... I currently own a 2015 sony Tv and i have to use many external devices such as IR blasters and smart plugs to do all that. Thanks.

when the tv is off, device will be offline, only when it is on then you are able to change source. So you still need an IR blaster to turn it on first then you can set automations after that

I considered switching to a fire tv cube 3 last year when they released the new one since i'm an alexa user but looking at some reviews, i noticed it would not perform as i'd want. For now i've put a smart plug on my tv and made an automation which pings the consumption every 20 seconds or so and considers the TV " ON" if it's above 30 watts. Not ideal but i haven't found any better way yet ^^

@@AlexTeo Hey Alex thanks for replying! Cause I'm looking into creating a smart but and dumb switch. Reason being as guest or parents come over to our place, they will use the switches as per normal, but understand that H1 can decouple it but still supplying power to the smart light. I am thinking the implications of 1. Smart switch can still use as normal without turning off the smart light completely, and still enable smart home control 2. Double tap on the swtich can be a dedicated set "turn on light for 10 mins) 3. Triple tap to turn off zone lights, example kitchen. As I have a mixture of dumb and smart lights, looking to set in a way decouple mode for switches connected to smart light, and couple mode for switchs with dumb lights. Will this work? Or is there a better work around? :) Cheers! Your channel has been very helpful in my smart home journey!
