I have a cat that was thrown out of a car as a kitten. I took her in and she went for the litterbox first and then the food, I still never figured out why she was discarded. She is the perfect cat. She does have some abandonment issues but I love her and she is now the queen of the house.

This morning I took my cat Annie to the vet and I adopted another kitten. He looks like her with a different face and he is 12 weeks old. Since Annie was there I got to show her the kitten and see if she likes him. Tonight I had to separate them or they would have played with each other all night! I am just too much of a softee for a kitten so now I have 2 in the house and 1 I feed outside. They give me more love than I could ever give them.

My black cat was a rescue. He's an incredible companion that surprises me everyday. I think rescues are the best because they somehow remember the life they had compared to the one they can enjoy now. And a life with someone who cares about them is what they deserve. Nice video man.

equarg ''let'' suggesting all of humanity are children.This term and issue is Very-Unjust,especially for owners who consider their cats are children and family and sacred,and have proof that their responsible owners,in apartment homeliving.if someone smells piss-which i never have,only in a townhouse did i experience that,then warn them,out of all my cats not one sprayed indoors,except a black ''bear'' who adopted us,and our female black and white cat-aurea.he stayed in my basement window well the remaining month and a half of winter,during the night this was his bed,i kept the window cracked,as it was super warm down there with three large heat vents blowing and the boiler.I put a soft blanket in there and covered the top of it so he wasn't covered in snow as i first found him.I could'nt get him to come in,but i fed and watered him closer and closer to the steps.One day in spring he was comfortably rolling around in my back patio,i said this is my chance and surprised i was very gingerly and pensively able to string a flea collar on him,as he was in a very good and relaxed mood?I let him in a bit later and he ran in my basement where the litter box was,until i had a vet neuter-Discount appointment at the humaine society,for low income,he sprayed only twice,probably due to nerves.And infested my basement with fleas,but this was the best situation to keep him contained,i thought the collar would work,but until i noticed the infestation,then i just used flea body powder and let them out for the room spray,then after i just washed it out.So this is just one way,a homeless cat can be handled and what can happen if you don't check or coordinate your appointment.Trapping would have been 'safest' or most optimal but i was on a waiting list which could take up to a month,i called them and advocated for him,right before he came in,just due to the fact that he wasn't just some regular cozy secured housecat and therefore a more special,detrimental case,he could have brought in fiv!And i got him bumped to the top of the list in a week,for him and worrying that he'd spray again and neighbours could smell it through holes.Thankgod.could've went smoother though.He was the best boy and never sprayed again.his cracked paws were a real 'treat' when he always liked to sit with me on my chair and massage my lower collarbone area,and sleep,brought me much needed peace to my literal soul.called him-C or D,either one!He deserved a better life.👿👿

its not feral. it has been around humans before as shown by the way it pushes into your hand when you pet it. it knows what to expect . even if a feral cat were to approach a human for whatever reason - it would shit its pants upon being touched.

I love how you went through all that trouble to help out this cat. Shows character.

Our neighbor brought home a tiny black kitten and then moved away the next week leaving the kitten to fend for itself. Very scared, she lived under our deck for several days. I used the same combination, cream and canned tuna, to gain her trust. Now she is our cat, Bimbo. Great video, thank you for your kindness to this animal.

I rescued 3 cats pretty much the same way, they had been abandoned as kittens and I immediately brought them home. They all lived a blessed life for almost 20 years. I cannot explain how much joy they brought me :)

Yes, a feral will do that, given enough time, kindness, and love. My two 13 1/2 year-old recovering ferals will attest to that. No human contact before four months, still can get scared by a gust of wind, but very loving. They are indoor-only and glad of it (apparently they both had enough of "out" in four months to last them a lifetime). There are many challenges when you take in ferals, but every time I see another little leap in confidence, even after all these years, it makes it all worth it. That's them in my profile picture.

Can people please stop confusing stray cats for ferals. I work with ferals. They can not be tamed. You can live with them in your house at your own risk, but they can not be tamed. And they live a life full of anxiety and fear. You make people complacent when you claim strays are ferals. Just because it has been living on the streets does not make it feral. A truly feral cat will rub its nose right off in a trap. When they see you they will turn themselves inside out to try to get away. He was likely born from a stray mother, and had contact with humans since he was young. Thats a stray. Thats a street cat. It is not feral. Again... unless you live with cats that would attack you rather than let you touch them... your cats are probably just street cats.

Owning a feral cat can be very rewarding, but they are a lot of work at first. I rescued a tiny, maybe 2 month old kitten from a feild when I was at a bonfire. Everyone had left except myself and my brother and a few people, and while they put the fire out I could hear this loud, agonizing crying. I thought for sure since we were close to the highway it was a hit cat, as I have rescued one before. Luckily it was just one little girl, so very thin, but exceptionally friendly. I believe because she was starving that she let my brothers girlfriend pick her up and she didn't try to run. She purred and purred and I had a dog seat in my car from my pup, and once she was placed in it she laid down and purred herself to sleep for the ride home with me. She followed me inside from my garage willingly, and I will never forget the first time she ate wet food. She didn't stop crying until I put the plate down, and then she tried eating the food so fast I was afraid she was going to break her teeth smacking them on the plate. She then slept beside me in the dog carrier, but would walk around and cry loudly every two hours through the first few nights for more food. It took her awhile to get used to the litter box, she did poop on my spare bed and clothes I had to throw away. My cat I had already wasn't quite sure of her, almost scared. I found out quickly she was deaf, so it made it difficult to tell her no and get her to stop doing bad behaviour. She goes absolutely bonkers at least 2hrs a day, climbing my furniture, curtains, screen door, Windows, heck even try's to climb the walls! But I read online feral kittens aren't allowed to play much, because it's dangerous in the wild and so the mother scolds them, so that when you rescue them and they realize there's no danger, they go wild! It's very much true lol. She also kicks her litter everywhere, dumps her food dishes, knocks over the water bowl (loves water!) and has broken a few things. I wouldn't trade her for the world though :). She has been with me for 2 months now and I no longer have to carry her to the litter box, and have managed to get her to come to me by tapping my foot on the floor. And she still doesn't know how to eat properly but she's no longer the deathly skinny dirty mess she was the first day. My other cat even cleans her and they snuggle now. My dog loves her too, all 3 play together chasing in circles in the backyard. That was a long story sorry lmao

Vet receptionist- "Do you have a name for the kitty?" Randy- "His name is Shithead" ROFL. Keep up the good work. Seeing things like this restores my faith in humanity :)

First of all, God bless you and thank you for doing that for a stray and hungry cat...there are too many of them and I hate to think about any animal starving or being cold. I have two stray cats that would for sure be dead by now if they hadn't come to me, but they are both fat and happy now (I've had them for years), and that makes me so happy. I love them both so much they are my sweet babies!!! :D I feel like too many people don't give enough sympathy for the plight of animals even though the plight of humans is bad enough! We are all in a hurt of a mess! :/

The Legendary Chest It is really sad to me that my video, which did not actually and actively seek you out, would justify or provoke the reaction from you that it did. I have been the recipient of these kinds of posts (and much much worse) from time to time within the last 3 years since I posted this video. My immediate question in my mind regarding your post was, "Why?". Your post immediately causes me to wonder how anyone who displays kindness and compassion can be viewed with such contempt as you seemingly displayed. My second thought is how difficult it would be for me to want to hurt someone who obviously hurts to see others (animals or people) unjustly or even sometimes justly hurting. Stop crying and get out there and save as many as you can by trapping them, neutering them, giving medical care and finding a home for them. I have been saving heaps of them in past few years, I'm amazed at how many people just dump healthy, loving cats when it's no longer a convenience for them to have them.

Some people at an ARC center a block away feed stray cats that then come down the street and shit in our yard. We've got a child that has low resistance to illness of any kind. We've "relocated" over 20 feral cats so far. Feces problems have dropped to near 0 incidents per month. Last incident was over a month ago. That's down from about 4 or five new scats a day. It was horrible and revolting to be forced to clean these messes up. Worst was when the child would find one on his own and come up with feces on his hand or on his foot. Also, we have more song birds around now. I've also saved heaps of cats for relocation to a special paradise just for cats. I call it cat heaven. It's an area where cats are dropped off in the country. An old lady feeds them. They fight, fornicate and infect each other with their diseases and stay in that one area for the food and water as San Diego is a harsh place in the surrounding hills. None have ever come back from there.

John Knoefler Yeah, I can see many cats crapping in your yard is a problem. I wouldn't like it. But, don't forget we caused this problem of stray cats by abandoning them, and allowing them to proliferate by not neutering them.

I was driving home after a long day of doing stuff, driving home the car in front of me throws a kitten out the window, I pull over and pick up the kitty and took him home.

Wow. I loved this video. I know I'm late to the game by about 3 years, but I just wanted to say, thank you for uploading. I really enjoyed this. :) I trapped five ferals myself and kept them. Mine were approximately 8 & 12 months old, and truly feral, born wild to feral mommas in the woods behind my apartment, so I was the first person to ever handle them. One of mine died of kidney disease when she was about two. The vet said he suspected she'd gotten poisoned by antifreeze while she was still wild. This cat in the video doesn't appear to have been born feral. He came around too quickly. i think he was handled as a kitten, but then dumped very young probably. Which is why, once he was inside and knew he had no escape, he gave up and came to you. My ferals each came around eventually, and allowed me to pet them. The first time they purred for me gave me such joy. One of them became affectionate within a couple weeks, and I was able to pick him up in another couple months. His brother took a few weeks longer. A slightly older, unrelated female took nearly a year before she'd willingly let me touch her, although if she was in a small space, she'd submit to being petted. She was just terrified the whole time. But I kept at it, and eventually even she purred for me. Her brother's purr sounded like a rusty chainsaw. Very loud and rough. They lived the rest of their lives as indoor pampered pets.

Thanks. I had been feeding the feral cats ouside our apartment and was looking into spay & release programs to help knock down the population when the apartment got a new manager. He said he was going to shoot the cats. So I trapped all I could. Other residents helped and got some of the others. We saved all we could. I never meant to keep so many of them, but once I had them and they began to slowly trust me, what else could I do? They gave me a lot of love and joy in return.

The cat was completely feral and born to a feral mother in the woods nearby. This cat had never been touched by a human being and that was the point of the video in the first place. What you conveniently watched was the culmination and result of extreme patience in consistent feedings at a consistent place and time each day over many months and also the slow and deliberate acclimation to my voice whereby I would spend 30 mins talking to him from a distance during each feeding and shortening that distance incrementally over time.

Randy Morris Ah. I stand corrected! :) Having done it myself, I can attest to the fact that they're all individuals, as my ferals each came around in their own time and their own way. I did much the same thing as you did, spending hours out alongside the strip of woods the ferals lived in, sitting on a blanket, reading a book nearby, when I'd bring food. I gradually moved closer and closer to where I fed them so they'd get used to my presence. I ran out of time when we got the new apartment manager who hated cats and he threatened to kill them all. I really loved your video, and applaud you for a job well done.

I rescued a tiny Orange kitten that I found huddled, stunned, and with blood leaking out his eyes, ears, nose, and anus on the blacktop in the cold rain Still had blue eyes and I doubted he would live the night. So I grabbed him before he was ran over and gave his a short warm bath, wrapped him in a warm towel, and put him in a covered carrier. To my amazement he survived the night. I had to run to work but left some wet food and water. Got home and he still did not leave his towel bundle. Gave him a 2nd bath and removed a butt load of flees. Finally got him to nibble on some wet food....mostly licked the gravy....but ate a few solid peices. He became fast friends with a black female kitten my landlords ex brought me. Having 2 cats already I raised them till big enough to spay and neuter. The humane society was pleased I did this and I learned they were adapted together a week later since they had bonded so well.

that "shithead" bit is a line from a movie. a dog started barking near a hotel and one of the guests thought he was warning that there was a fire, so he woke up everyone yelling fire, and giving the dog credit for being a "life saver." anyhoos, the fire dept. came and announced that there wasn't any fire. Then this old Japanese man went up to the dude holding the dog, and said "Mr., don't call that dog life saver, call him shithead."

Great video. Thank you for sharing. Over the years I have managed to provide a home for many feral cats that have found their way to my back door. In southern California, I rescued one that had been hit by a car, that I named Kiwi. He lived to a ripe old age of 24 years. In human years that is equivalent to about 112. It is truly amazing what a little love can do for an animal. He was the most intelligent cat I have ever known and would remember virtually everything I would show him. On many occasions, he would come inside, let me know that he had something to show me, and wanted me outside. On one occasion he showed me a baby opossum on the lawn, on another a dead pigeon beside the walkway, on another a Grey Parrot sitting on a fence, and another was a cudamonde in a magnolia tree (someone's pet that had escaped), and so on. Every day when I arrived home he would run out to the car to greet me, he would come to me when I would whistle, and always answered to his name. A list of amazing things that he would do goes on and on. This beautiful, five pound, little, long haired tabby really enriched my life. Kiwi has been gone for many years now, but as I write this remembrance, a newly rescued male Cheshire lies at my feet. He follows me wherever I go and seldom leaves my side. He is one of eight that have found my door this summer. Unfortunately, I cannot take all of them in. Life is short for those on the outside. I have never known of one living more than two years. Again, thank you for sharing and for your humane kindness to this little animal.

That's very cute. Some cats, even feral ones are starved for affection, and when they realize they can get it, they just melt. I went EIGHT MONTHS trying to rehabilitate a traumatized feral kitten who would lose her bowels if I even talked to her. It was the hardest thing I ever did, but one night she jumped up on the couch with me, really afraid, but she wanted to be close. I pet her, she got scared, but then she relaxed. 10 minutes later she was bunting my face with hers, and she ended up turning into the most affectionate cat I'd ever seen. It just takes some patience.

I've been setting out food for a feral cat that is very fearful of anything, it runs as soon as I open the door. The very difficult life that these animals lead makes you want to cry at times.

Randy Morris :( my farel cat is scared and i don't know if the cat has ever have an owner I'm trying not to put too much money into the cat cause who knows maybe with cat will leave for now i got 2 cat bowls I'm planing on building a cat house, I'm using dry cat food and warm water now, maybe i will get wet cat food i had the cat for about 1 month now its an outdoors cat

It was amazing he came to u. I won't lie I cried because it was truly beautiful. You are a good man. I currently have a 3 week old orphan feral kitten. He is the sweetest baby. I just found him yesterday evening. He loves his cuddles and his kitty milk. To know he trusts me is so wonderful and beautiful.

Randy Morris I do really think there is not a word to even describe that feeling because it is just purely out of this world to know that a beautiful creature trust you with life itself. Man aren't we so lucky to have such wonderful creatures on Earth to bond with. 💝

Yes. Catnip is real and you can buy it in spray form. However, not all cats possess the gene that makes them react to catnip. I read somewhere that 60 - 70 % do react to it.

If cats had that ability they would probably have the ability to also regulate their own reproduction by abstaining or using contraceptives to prevent their own overpopulation beyond their food sources. And they would probably also look both ways before crossing the road. Unfortunately, they don't have these abilities. I have seen so many dead cats in the road in my area (due to the large population of ferals) and also many with health issues including ear mites and skin problems.

I fully understand the issue but do not agree to the solution of taking away the cats right to reproduce and effemenizing it. You cant claim to truly love an animal then neuter it without due care for the physiological and physical welfare of the said animal. Its barbaric and i find it disgusting to say the least especially when there are other options which don't interfere with hormone production. Other humane methods should be used such as tube tying to stop unwanted litters and/or social behaviors in domesticated cats

Randy Morris No it isn't. Empathy isn't something you purposefully craft. Its something you feel. It is born out of relating, understanding and applying the trait of doing onto others what we want done onto us (that includes cats). You can make all the claim you want but can't truly Love without applying that.

I'm so thankful that there are people like you, like my mom (who has done the same so many times during my life) like myself who yesterday took pains to rescue a shrew from the evil jaws of my cat and my daughter who rushed it off to our wildlife rehab centre and stuck around to hear if it was going to make it, which it was, thank heavens. Not to be rude but you did a little mistake, stray cats are cats that are abandoned or ran away from owners... This is a feral cat, they are born from stray cats in the road or just his whole family was there

Great video. My own boy cat was feral and he started coming into the house and eating the two felines cat food. He wouldn't come to me for a long time and then just like yours he suddenly became all friendly. Poor old boy was with me for six years but cancer struck in the end. Basic vacination for rabies caught my ear...Unheard of here in the UK.

I don't know you, but you have my highest respect for taking care of this little panther =) As far as I an think back my family (mainly my mom) took acre of real cats, we fed them, vaccinated and dewormed them, got them neutered, some stayed, some left, some unfortunately died. The last colony was 12 cats (of whom only 2 survived, they rest "just got lost over time", we only now for sure of 3 that died), and it took months of continuing feeding and attraction (and also playing, little Kalle was a very gentle, very nice and playful little guy, unfortunately he didnt wake up after the neutering process :'( Kalle was also a black cat, Pasha reminds me a bit of him) until they let us touch them.

that sweet cat was very likely lost or abandoned. good thing he will get a home

The cat was completely feral and born to a feral mother in the woods nearby. This cat had never been touched by a human being and that was the point of the video in the first place. What you conveniently watched was the culmination and result of extreme patience in consistent feedings at a consistent place and time each day over many months and also the slow and deliberate acclimation to my voice whereby I would spend 30 mins talking to him from a distance during each feeding and shortening that distance incrementally over time.

Interesting. It looks like cats can adapt in this manner. I always thought dogs and cats couldn't bond with a human if they did not imprint during some number of weeks of life. Congrats.

I can tell how much attention you gave to this cat and how much effort you put in, due to how vocal he is. Cats don't get vocal like that in the wild, and take a caring hand to result in that. I foster kitties myself, and I'm really happy to see someone help a wonderful kitty find a home like you did.

That is incredible albeit very VERY hard to believe. I've always wondered if it was possible to domesticate feral cats with enough work.. It seems like they come in a variety of different personality types and maybe you just found a rare one! I guess this is an unbelievable video for a reason!

I have a Scottish wildcat living with me, I was her 5th & last chance of a home cause she got badly hurt! Skye (that's her name) are best friends & this is our 4th year anniversary she tore me & my home up badly! Lol! I NEVER gave up on her & now she is my companion & sister! Bless your heart Sir!!
