A lot of times, people fall into the trap of goalsetting for a rank. The trick is to stop focusing on getting a rank and start focusing on playing to learn and enjoy the game. If you are genuinely serious about getting better, start by being kinder to your mental health with that.

@@Disagovsky A good way to not burn out while going for that is to focus on small goals on the way there. That may be a big goal, but it’s less intimidating if you work on the mechanics to support a specific rank (not the rank itself).

Great video. I've been grinding less in Rocket League this year and have seen improvement in all other aspects of life. Being bad at many things is much more fun than being bad at just Rocket League.

I really agree with you. Sitting at C2 and playing mostly casuals because i'm ok with my rank and prefer having fun. It's especially important to have this kind of message right now, because even getting to GC is harder than ever, with a wall of washed GC and smurfs at high C2- low C3. I think it's also important to tell people to train what is fun. I've been told to not train aerial and flashy moves, now i'm C2 and enjoy freestyling casually because it's a lot more fun than practicing basic drills over and over again

I definitely agree man, Rocket league should just be for fun, nowadays it's feeling like more of a chore than having fun with your friends and goofing off. Thanks for telling us your honest opinion

As a champ2, I totally agree with your graph in your thumbnail 👌 I've struggled to climb and reach every rank, and once I got c1 for the first time I always wondered what was the point to climb higher? What would I get from it? 🤔 The answer is nothing, not more fun. Not much more skill. I've not reached the point where I can do anything but I'm already average in every aspect of the game ans I think the best rank to be skilled enough to do anything like air dribble flip reset etc would be c3. After that it's just pointless tryhard for us casual gamers that don't aim to be pro. Keep being a for fun champion player 👌 that's the best rank, not too much sweats, not too hard to reach, still room to do plays and to have fun 😀

@@sohtnax7809its pretty easy, dont worry. You dont have to grind for it. Honestly, i think it will come to you eventually if you just keep playing, whether you grind for it or not

As a a person who would say I’m decently competitive player who is currently sitting at gc2 I really think that this may be my peak rank. I used to see others that were gc2 back when I was champ and think they were the best players in the game, now that I consistently hit gc2 every season, I am seeing how trash we really are

if you watch flakes you will understand even more how braindead they are, you just powerslide cut at the moment of challenge and they could do nothing about it, flakes playing against them without mechanics and making the lobby look like diamond 😂

Yeah, these past few days, I’ve been taking this to seriously... thank you for making this video Luke. I’m a pretty active guy and enjoy quite a few more in real life things than just rocket league. So I asked myself, am I playing the game for fun, or am I playing the game like a job? I was playing it like a job... here I am thinking I need to get better at the game to have fun, when literally last time I played a game I was laughing enjoying myself... I’ll continue trying to get better, just like I’ll try to improve at all my activities, but I’m not going to take it so seriously anymore, I really enjoy learning those fancy mechanics, so I think I’ll have fun with those and try to implement them into my game, NOT CARING ABOUT MY RANK. I take my rank way to seriously too... I need to get over that LOL. Thank you kindly, and have a blessed day everyone!!!

THANK YOU FOR SAYING IT!!! someone had to. of course we all "want to be SSL" but its just not realistic. not without the Grind- and i mean GRIND. that type of grind includes making sacrifices, which most people aren't willing/able to do. if you want that higher rank, nothing is stopping you except the Grind you can put in, but it comes at a cost.

That’s why my dream rank has always been GC. I’m currently c2 in 2’s. I have been c3 a couple of seasons ago multiple times, but I can't seem to reach it anymore🙃

I only aim for GC1 don't care about higher will happen if it happens. I considered coaching before, but never really saw results of coaching like it is all good to see how many people enroll into coaching, but how many really improve?

My life was already shit, somehow that's how I ended up playing RL. Still can't play that many hours because of my job and my house. Life just sucks and it doesn't even matter

I have gotten a lot of friends into RL over the years and well, a lot of us don't care about a Rank anymore, its just one of the games in our library that we play from time-to-time. We mostly play Custom Games anyway, just a lobby with us, and that's it

The thing is. If you start to grind for your rank. You stop playing anyway. And then after one and a half year you think: hmmm it acually was fun back then. And then you join the game again and have fun again

Yeah. ive been playing RL since 2016. got around 3k hours in but ive been playing on / off since my first day. 1st i grind around 2-4h a day for few months and all of a sudden i get burned out of the game and stop for another few months. I managed to reach gc1 quite fast but ever since that ive been kinda "stuck." Dont have the motivation to actually grind to get better mostly just wanna have some fun, hit some clips with people off every rank. But somedays i think what if i actually wanted to grind to ssl how much would it hurt my other games and potentially my real life since im very slow learner.

Saddens me because i genuinely COULD put the hours in to train & improve but a few months ago i developed tendonitis in my left wrist (been healed for a while now) and rocket league is what caused it..

It’s funny cuz this is why I’m stuck at diamond lvl cuz I don’t bother grinding a game when I have so much other stuff to focus on too.

I'm hard stuck c2-3 unless I warm up, which takes me.. about an hour, every day. I like doing other things with my life so.. yeah. At least I'm happy I can get gc rewards through rumble easy enough.

As a platinum in ranked but has yeh mmr of a champ in casual I can confirm that champ is really fun compared to all other ranks but also that it’s also not possible to get passed plat anymore even tho I haved 1v1d many champs grand champs and I can confirm that I have the skill level just not the tm8s or the ping to get me through this one

I grinded rumble for GC to get competitive rewards and a nice red title. If there is some special reward for your achievements, then I am ready to grind. Otherwise it is pointless

My goal isnt a rank, its a skill level. Currently sitting at low plat and I just want to be able to do proper off the wall air dribbles, backboard double taps, ground to air dribbles, ground dribbles, powerslide cuts.. maybe redirects. Just overall better control over my car and the ball. From what some plats are doing right now, I figure that "ideal rank" would then be low Diamond..?

I already never aimed at ssl, it’s literally time consuming, im aiming at champ, if I get champ im flexing lol. But the way how ur friends see u is true, u become absolutely better at the game that people look at u and say oh yeah Im gonna lose to him anyway. And matches lose its fun. I don’t think we all want to get better at this game honestly

same man my goal was getting champ season rewards every season, and finally got one at last season, i hope i can continue my streak

I hit champ one and I have been champing since season five mainly because I just don’t play as much rocket league is become so boring and so repetitive that’s made me really look at other things in life

I wanna hit high diamond to champ cause people are just really solid at that level. Less whiffs, plays flow smoother, just less randomness overall.

I am around that rank (C1 in 3s and D2/D3 in 2s) and that sums it up pretty good. Less big whiffs and players are pretty consistent. Here and there someone pulls of something insane, but that's quite rare. And you don't have to grind hard to stay at that level. At least I don't have to 😁

once i get champ 2 i will stop playing rank to rank up but to have fun like we do in casual or pm

That'll probably be my goal as well, currently c1 on a good day, d3 on off days but my mechs definately are seeing improvment. I also hope to get some sort of gc tag, even if its an extra modes tag😅

ive been in denial for a couple years now. it took me way more hours to get to c2/c3 than the majority of people. im talkin 2k almost 3k hours to get there. But for me its the same in any game i play. i have to grind it out just to match slightly above average players.

@@mugnuff3259 I just feel like that's a good skill level to be able to really enjoy the game. Do some cool stuff here and there. Pass if I want. Just being able to consistently put the ball where I want it to go and do the things I want to do. It would definitely make the game even more fun. But I do really enjoy the grind of getting better though

the moment when you are ok with leaving your friends and your probably not gonna make money. it becomes a stupid decision blinded by addiction. rocket league for most people is not worth. at the end of the day you have to make money somehow and when you play rocket league all day its to much dopamin to enjoy anything else in life

I want to get ssl, because it’s the highest possible point for casual players, and also to get all the seasonal rewards. And I don’t have to “grind” anything except just playing games and improving by learning from my mistakes. I never played any custom maps, never warm up before playing ranked and currently sitting at c1 in 2s and d2-d3 in 1s. I feel like most players take this game way too seriously. I don’t care if I lose, I don’t care if my teammates get toxic and start throwing, I just like playing this game :)

And personally, the max rank I'd shoot for is gc1, but only for ten wins a season. Sweat til you get the season rewards, then relax and have fun in c1/2/3
