Very true. My trick is not caring and just hopping into regular trials groups just to do them. No one notices my DPS sucks! Or at least they don't call me on it. It's OK to just float around the middle somewhere in the numbers. Just don't be the bottom performer. ;p

This is such an important video to take out the illusion that many players, including myself, have or have had. I used to be extremely disappointed in my own performance because I watched videos of people like Alcast and I saw my stats were WAY better than his (I'm talking 2k more weapon and spell damage, higher crit, higher penetration), but my damage output was diabolically lower than his in every one of his parse clips. Because no one bothers to tell you this.

Glad to see you cover this Deltia. The other consideration for running these sets in live trials is also player skill level as I feel this also gets lost in translation from the "Top" trials groups to the average player. The reason guys can run these sets is because in most cases they have mastered content so they can afford to drop health etc.

THANK YOU for posting this. So many new players get caught up in the parse dummy mindset, where they are so overfocused on gear and hitting a magic number that they come out feeling like they suck in a regular trial. I have been playing for years and years, and would MUCH rather have someone who knows the mechs and understands the actual battle situation (mobile, stationary, always running fight, mobs or single boss) than just thinking they pick up the gear du jour and become instant sweaty.

A lot of that is that so many guilds require parses to run with the guild in trials and vet content. They know that they will never get in unless they worrk on the dummy for hours to get a good parse. Then they get into content and all the moving parts come into play and their combat metrics are bad and they get told to go back to the dummy again and feel all hurt because they were called out. It's a bad cycle.

Very good explanation of endgame groups that newish players don't understand. As a trial lead im not just looking at the highest parse when recruiting dps. A high parse just gets you a chance to tryout with the team. Pov's are the best tool for evaluating talent. I dont want to sound elitist. I owe it to the rest of the team who have worked hard themselves to be better to put the best possible people around them. This level of teamwork is very rewarding. We are all doing our little part to succeed as a group. The biggest mistake newer players make is thinking " I can parse high I deserve clears and to be on these teams." Much more to endgame teams then high parses. I have taken folks with lower parses on the dummy because I watch them in content and they can play. Something else that doesn't get mentioned. As a dps it's just not about parsing high and staying alive. You should also try to mitigate as much damage as possible. This allows these powerful endgame supports to debuff and buff more. But if you are taking damage you shouldn't( yes they will keep you alive) but then they can't do thier main job endgame..... turn the fight into a dummy parse or as close to it for maximum dps.

This was so validating to watch. I've been feeling like I'm the only person who watches percentages rather than dps numbers. People don't even know what I'm talking about when I ask what their percentage usually is in trials or dungeons. I find it gives me a far more accurate read on how good I am as a player than just the flat dps stats that fluctuate so much depending on group sets and buffs.

Have you watched the video at all? Trial dummy is for trial optimized setups, vet trials actually as no one is really gonna be minmaxing normal trials that's just overkill. Soloing WBs is only a good way to determine how well can you play solo, not how can you perform in a trial. Soloing is opposite of coordinated trial run. So you're performing well for solo player, but losing potential in vet trials.

@@Siberiasun2 You miss the point completely. First off, WB mechanics do not equal trials mechanics, each trials has its own specific mechanics. Second, tanks are meant to take all aggro on themselves (also buff and debuff), healers are meant to heal everyone (buffing and debuffing too) and only thing DDs have to do is do damage and respect the mechanics of the trials (also revive allies at times). WB does not equal a trials difficulty and have little to no in common.

When it comes to builds, be it from you or another person, I always use it as a baseline as to what a class _can_ do. Since I'm mostly solo and PUG, I don't really expect to see huge DPS numbers since I don't have that endgame gear or others with that gear. More people should keep this in mind, be it on ESO or another game. Just because a Paladin in FF14 or a Necromancer can do tons of damage simulated or in a group, won't mean you can do the same since there's other factors going on besides what gear you as a single player wears and what debuffs you as a single player can inflict.

I'm not exactly the pro-est of them all, but as long as you're not playing Arcanist or running the new necklace mythic, Whorl of the Depths is one of the easiest to proc (light attack every once in a while), with no real Mini-Game to manage. Order's Wrath is a good supplementary set that's easy to obtain (craftable), with no mini game associated with it. Stormfist is a great monster set if you don't wanna think about it too much. Keep in mind that this is a setup for a traditional, 2-bar, light attack weaving build. Heavy Attack focused builds run other things, one bar builds are something entirely else. Then there are builds that focus on specific parts of the kits of different classes. It's very hard to give a "one size fits all" build in a game that has so many options.

Took some time away but I’ve been a general part of the endgame community for quite some time. Lots of things aren’t really secrets, it more tends to be that so few people actually want to know them. At this current moment a lot of people and I mean A LOT like to use oakensoul. Oakensoul as a whole generally underperforms when compared to better players in proper gear in content. Now, that doesn’t mean that oakensoul doesn’t help lower level players enter more easily into higher level content, but it also doesn’t mean that oakensoul solves all problems. When I’ve taught players and was being taught, mechanics were stressed above all else. Once the mechanics are down, everything else, including not dying, becomes easy enough for you to be able to do proper damage, or simply your role in general. I’m a tank main personally, and it took me a bit to get every mech down. Now that it’s been well over 3 years though since I began learning, I only struggle, and only for a brief period until I once again learn the mechs, to do newer / harder content. As such, I’ve been able to get many titles and trifectas and am overall happy with where I am. I can’t stress enough though, that I asked for this. I was drilled hard, made to learn from my mistakes, and got chewed out over and over again until I got it. Most people don’t seem to want this, or ask for it. I wish more did… especially tanks lol. I’d love to actually train some more people to tank properly again.

Look, normal mode can be good if you're a guild who is not really score pushing and are ok with gear that are not perfected. It is not for training. The problem with most guilds and players these days is they expect a clear the first time around. When trials is suppose to be a progression. Just because those guilds that completed those new trials a day after it launched doesn't mean they didn't play it for hours and hours for weeks and weeks during the PTS. Of course they did. So believe me when I say this when that new trial launched, they came prepared.

I'm actually a goober. For the longest time, I used to be very casual, and have gotten into build making and DPS parsing only recently for higher end content. I had absolutely NO IDEA that there was an actual difference between target dummies. I had one dummy in my house that I somehow got and kept blasting him with a perfect meta build for like 24k dps. Popped food, buffs, potions and went on a trial dummy yesterday to find out that I do like triple the damage with an imperfect rotation. This restored so much hope for me and I had no idea about there being a difference in the dummies at all. It also helped me realize that even a goofy oakensould build that I used to run and thought was bad is actually much better than I thought and definitely more than enough for solo content. Very helpful and eye opening for people like me who are completely clueless about these things

Then i saw that i still did 60% of the group damage the dungeon went fine and i was a little proud of myself. Parse dummys should only be used to compare 2 of your builds to see what the max amount of dps you could pull out from that build. Also Rele is way overrated. While this is true, you should still have some kind of explanation for this from either the game's side, or the guide authors side who use parses as showcases which in turn makes newer players aspire to unattainable numbers or get disheartened to even try improving further when they realise someone dishes out 100k dps more than them even though their stats are equal.

@@ValkynShade it wont be coming from zos, that's for sure. It only affects a small part of the community that I doubt they can justify the cost. As for content creators, some of them do go out of their way to explain. It just that not everyone watches that section. They just skip to gear and rotation. Also, the worst part about it is despite all this valuable info they put together, they get called "toxic" for being a "meta slave."

The BIG problem is HOW MANY sets of armor is one supposed to have all properly set up and gold and so forth? The most expensive thing in this game is upgrading jewellery to gold and after that gear and weps. There are so many sets of armor and what you see is NOT what you get at all. It is very frustrating. And I am VERY happy to read this. Basically it is NOT possible to benchmark yourself solo. TYVM

  • @HiHelloHi

Just stop golding everything out. Weapons are the biggest gold to dps gain, always gold. Armor is not that big and neither is jewelry unless you're scorepushing or really want to top parse over someone. Ideally you have a trash setup, cleave fight setup, and st setup as a general setups for trials

I sort of got this before, but what confuses me is people who asking for "minimum 80k dps from each dps" (maybe more like "50k minimum" but roll with it). Are they accounting for the parse dummy, or their own gear sets, or do they mean raw? I can't get that 80k right now, but I'm saying I don't know when I could/should consider that "minimum" met in this example.

  • @CMLVI

    @CMLVI

    Жыл бұрын

It's from parse dummy numbers. Mainly because it's the best "standard" way to measure your ability to keep a rotation and do damage. You'd like an encounter that could provide that (in ye olden days, people would "parse" Bloodspawn in Spindleclutch while a tank held the boss, but that's still not super consistent). They ask for specific numbers because some encounters have a timer, or just to limit the group. People have limited time, no one wants to spend 4 hours on a vSS. 100k should be enough to get you through all the trials currently. 80k would limit you to maybe vKA and below.

  • @Deltiasgaming

They want to prove you have some knowledge of your class in a game. They mean after a 21 million parse dummy 100% to 0 what is your DPS.

Glad u mentioned rele. Put up about 10 parse vids on my page yesterday (123-127k ok templar on 300 console ping) to show how overrated rele, nerieneth, and zaans are. And how underrated coral, stormfist, and kjaln are… overall good video for your target audience. Beginner dps that might have missed this concept from a skinny or 8pups vid
