    Did you know that the reason Cleopatra is known as a very attractive person isn't because of her looks (although she is nice in that department) but rather because of her conversational ability. She was multilingual (7 languages!) Had a beautiful voice, and had a certain charismatic presence that everyone seemed to find irresistible.

    Using magic to make her pretty was probably the best part of this. Cleopatra was described by all of her contemporaries as plain or even downright ugly, but she had a charming personality. It wasn't until like 100 years later that people started writing about how beautiful she was.

  • @ravenwing199

    @ravenwing199

    I mean it's not fair to take contemporaneous sources at their word either. As most were produced under Octavian trying to cast her as a witch using Mark Anthony. Unless I'm missing someone none of them were in Egypt through her reign or likely saw her in person. So she could be a hottie or kinda ugly. Though what is certain is her bombshell charisma and personality.

    *"If I want to see tasteful nudity, I'd go to an art museum"* Funny you say that. I visited an Osamu Tezuka installation, the largest collection of his work ever displayed. It was mostly manga pages, but also sketches, anime clips and bunch and bunch of information. I can't remember everything, but I'm betting that there was nothing about this particular foray into adult animation. At most, perhaps it was briefly mentioned. In any case, it was a truly fascinating museum visit. My dad and I actually went together, and though he knows nothing about manga, he was still quite interested (as he is in anything new). At the same time, the museum also hosted a general manga installation that explored the art style and larger phenomenon. Most interestingly, they also had some tea enthusiasts show a proper Japanese tea ceremony, in all its cruciating detail. I love that kind of crap!

    The Thing about Cleopatra that i think most stories about her completley neglect or fail to mention, is that it is actually fairly well documented that she was an incredibly charismatic (not just beautiful) and very intelligent Woman. She enjoyed the most advanced education that Egypt could have offered to royalty at the time, and im pretty sure she ended up being able to speak about 10 different languages. Additionally, she probably also was one of Egypt's most beloved rulers. She wasnt just some Seductress that tempted these Roman Dictator's, but she was a genuinley charismatic and interesting person, so much so that people actually speculate that her description as the "most beautiful woman" might not even have been all that true, and instead she was just a genuinley charismatic, intelligent and interesting person, someone that simply captivated people not by her looks but through her personality.

    I just want to point out, the guy had no choice of what body he was put in and thought he would be in a human's body, his boss made him do it, that was not a choice and Idk how people are getting that confused. Secondly he only remembered himself for a few seconds, same with the other guy, and Maria, then after a few seconds they forgot their alien selves and the souls were "background" like a subconscious voice guiding them, but for all other intents and purposes they were the people whose bodies they assumed, the slave wasn't the alien, he was the slave, with an alien voice in his head, and Libya was Libya, with an alien voice in her head, the aliens were observers, not in control, but the people (and leopard) they possessed could choose to listen to their suggestions. That being said, the leopard engaged with the other leopard, the alien was trapped and not in control of the situation, he 100% did not turn hmself into an animal to have sex with an animal. Dude thought he was gonna be Cleopatra's gay homie or childhood bestie or whatever, and get to have pillow fights with her in her bed, being a leopard wasn't part of anyone's plan in the actual story, it was a joke on the character who wanted to get laid by Cleopatra winding up in the worst body and getting the raw end of the deal after he laughed at his friend for being a slave which was messed up so he deserved karma.

This even happens in real life today, family members adopt another family member (nice, nephew, distant cousin, whatever). Biologically, their status doesn't change. My inner history-loving self wants to correct this whole video SO HARD. She did NOT die from a snake. As matter of fact, one thing Tezuka did right was making her "ugly" in the beginning. It's actually the case Cleopatra was considered ugly in the beauty standards back then. Many historians believe it was her voice and intelligence she seduced men with. My Queen deserved better than this. (Hatshepsut too) Everyone sees her as some seductress when she is so much more. She brought stability and good prosperity. So seeing the movie actually shows her cry and her looks being "ugly" makes me a little happy. She is far more than what people see her.

  • @bluetwinkiesaregood

    Yeah, I heard about that. Archeologists and historians estimated that she wasn’t conventionally beautiful at all. Cleopatra’s looks, allegedly, ranged from subpar to average with thin lips, a broad jaw line, and a big nose. Also, Cleopatra was slightly over weight, too. She wasn’t remotely anything like the way people hyped her up to be.

He also got to say what was on his mind as many of his works got really political with strong social commentary even in his more mainstream stuff like Astro Boy. Seriously, the way he written politics and social issues into his work would make even Spike Lee and Howard Chaykin blush.
