Ah, a tweener like my old ‘05 CLK55 - part E-Class, part C-Class. Thank you Mercedes for not capitulating to 4 cylinder econo- motors! This things seems like a perfect successor to the CLK AMG!

Well they took away the v8 and gave it an inline 6 and increased the price and called it a baby AMG so pretty much the same thing.

Kinda interesting that the 53 gets a (great sounding) 6 cylinders but the upcoming 63 will unfortunately get the 4 cylinders 🤮

Merc thinks their customers want more power not realising they want the 63 for the sound. The 4 cylinder engine produces more power hence why the 63 gets that engine.

No! The GT is great but this is an overpriced C class that is not as fast as an M440 from BMW.

This is without a doubt one of the best looking cars released recently. Don't understand the very droll review...The interior trim is perfect. Black on black is THE BEST..It would help if you used the interior lighting which is quite spectacular from what other reviews show. Also the power output when you pair the electric motor and overboost is nearer to 500bhp. They are quoting 4.2to the 100kph but I wont be surprised if its cracks 4 because it has those better Mich SP tyres...& some other current 53's have been known to crack 4

It’s the same shell as a w205 c63s coup…

A retractable hard top would be nice as long as it’s balanced with a few extra ponies to compensate for the weight. The color choice weighs nothing and would differentiate this among the crowd on the inside. 8:39 Nice overview.

The prices back home in the US/Canada are soooo cheap! I'm an American expat and have ordered a 450AMG CLE and it coats nearly 100,000 Euros :/ ...I did configure one of these and with options it was 110,000 Euros. My best friend (still in the US was shocked that we pay so much for cars here...and I used to work for Mercedes in Sindelfingen, so I still get a discount via friends). So, the next time that someone stateside complains about costs, remember that you all pay less than us here.

That thing is so beautiful. That steering wheel is amazing. Damn!

It’s a decent effort. Looks pretty good, though I’d rather a C124 if I’m looking for a sinister cruiser. Biggest criticism by far… it has B pillars!

I like this car. I’m going to buy a new car in the next 12 months or so and this is a possibility. I’ll wait to see what you think it drives like.

My current daily is a C43 Coupe. When the new C class AMG range arrived I was massively disappointed. No Coupe and an engine choice that must of excited geeks for its technical spec, but suddenly made AMG owners turn to look at BMW M options. However, I can't stop watching reviews on the CLE 53! It just ticks all the boxes (OK maybe not the cheap shiny black on the centre console .. call it piano black, but it's awful and doesnt match the carbon fibre elsewhere?). Pricing will be interesting once announced, but MB should be applauded for the CLE 53 AMG COUPE. Exterior body heaven .... Love it!

E-class Coupe used to be one size bigger than C-class Coupe. Now they consolidated everything to a single wheelbase / size, and said goodbye to S-class Coupe too.

Every single e class coupe has been built on a c class chassis, barring possibly the c124, because the “c class” didn’t exist yet but the 201 and 124 are of the same breed anyways.

It´s been a while since i liked any new sporty looking car. Still have to be seen in person but i think this can be a great looking car under the right choice of color and trims. To my taste i would go RWD with a v8 like the amg of years ago and make it lighter whatever way possible but with a comfy yet competitive suspension setup and a touch lower to the ground. i know this will not happen but that´s just my opinion. Nowadays cars have to do so much stuff right and be liked by so many different people that is hard to find something unique and out of the beaten path. Still, looks great overall and must be a nice car to drive around.

MB consolidated the C and E coupe but priced it as the later. The C coupe was the volume leader, the people that bought that are most likely not to pony up the increased $$ for the new new coupe. I think this will be a dud for MB. The 4 series or A/S5 will kill it

We need more coupes back hands down, would buy another Acura CL Type S if it were offered

The Acura CL got destroyed by the Infiniti G35 coupe when that came out. Better in almost every way. You cant have a serious coupe with FWD. I had a CL and was truly disapointed when the G35 came out. The CL was a glorified Accord and probably the worst new car decision I made but at the time there were so few coupes and that is what I wanted. I bought a C class sedan C350 with a 6spd and sport pkg and was a superior driving car to the CL and never looked back, in fact I drove it for 14 years which got replaced with the C43 wagon

Watching this video sitting in my 420hp standard output Hurricane powered Wagoneer.....

I have been a MB & AMG owner for many years now and I think this will be a winner IF it has emotional sound and IF the CLE53 is the leader model by not introducing a CLE43 and a CLE35 that looks identical to the CLE53 because AMG has that bad habit of cloning a model with less power.

It’s basically an updated C63s Coupe with a C43 engine

I will wait for you to test drive it to consider it. The exterior is stunning and deserves a hyper screen. Agreed. I see a lot of C in this E interior with probably an S price for a well equipped one. MB is going at it with the piano black. Such a turn off. I absolutely love my ‘21 E53 Coupe interior. The absence of the B pillar to the metal latch to fold the standard seats forward… All gone… so disappointing… but yeah, the Big Bertha rear is truly stunning.

Am I the only person that think this looks like a Q60?🤔

People can only buy what's being offered. Manufacturers have doubled down on crossovers trying to get more women buyers.

I think this is subconsciousness that prevented you from presenting the car from a profile. The slope of the rear part in the coupes is the most important (defining!) design piece and here it just doesn't look great.

Whatever happened to station wagons? Whatever happened to V-6 engines? Whatever happened to hatchbacks? Lots of cookie-cutter SUVs with puny 2L I-4 engines though.

Please say Coupe and not Coop! This aint a chicken coop!

Beautiful cars don't necessarily sell well in modern times, as the buyers see them as too safe. Quirky and controversial designs get more buzz.

I like it except for mandatory AWD

I have been seriously traumatized by a Mercedes C400 AMG. A car that beeped at me when I downshifted manually before a turn as if to say: "Be careful...". A car with zero steering feel and over-sensitive brakes. A car that instilled zero confidence, unlike my 987 Cayman S that I picked up immediately when it's scheduled service was completed .

Perhaps a better question...what the hey happened to AMG? That looks like a pimps dream.

This is the beauty E coupe was not, and presentation? Could Maybe saved broke Norwegian attenåring on selling water bottles in Sahara…

The flared fenders make all the difference when done right, M. Look no further than the beaver bimmer for the opposite ... Speaking of watches, love the new Seiko, M.

As per usual . . . a keen eye my friend! Something I have been looking to add to the collection for a LONG while . . . Seiko 5 'with Arabian Flair'. Quite a story for another day, but picked it up on my recent trip to Doha. Have to admit, not an expensive watch but some of the features and quality of the build - I'm afraid to say - are dangerously close to the Swiss counterparts in the collection.
