Hi Mark & Coral. I have to admit we never use the UK CAMC sites at all. I find most of the Staff rude and the sites are Dull & Dated. You are correct its not a Club anymore. We only remain in it as the affiliated European sites which are awesome plus there is a good discount on the Ferry services. Juliet agrees the disabled bathrooms at the Clubs sites are poor, the grab handles are in the wrong places in the shower areas and there are no moveable stools. We will stop using the Club once we have finished touring abroad. The Private sites are much better and offer more for your dosh. The app and booking site are rubbish. We ring up as we prefer talking to a human. The Call centre staff are friendly and helpful. I don't blame you cancelling your Memberships at all. Thanks Phil & Juliet😉👍

Hi Phil, I forgot about the App, now that could be a whole new video. We have been looking at going to France and have found a company called Flowers which deals with the smaller sites. If we ever book, we will let you know what they are like. ATB

I am with you Mark and Coral. I have seen a big change since I started in 1984 and from being the best they have rapidly declined to the worst organisation IMHO. I currently have their insurance and this will be the first year in 8 years that I will be actively analysing the value of remaining with them. The overseas cover is the only area that I am unsure about, so more research needed but I feel sure there are alternatives available. As for the pricing and the new booking system, it’s unfriendly and doesn’t suit a club, it’s more attuned to a corporate chain. We don’t feel valued any more by this club, camping is becoming like banking…. people unfriendly 🙁 shame on the Club. Trev

Hi Trev, not been a member as long as yourself, but in our short time, we have noticed changers, not all for the best and like you, do not feel valued. The prices of sites is another area where the club needs some work, we believe they are overpriced. Don't think we will be renewing our Caravan & Motorhome Company membership this year. Oh, did I say Company, I meant Club 😉. See you soon as long as my membership isn't revoked lol. ATB

Hi Trev. We totally agree with you. We do not rate the Club for many reasons. I also feel the Wardens are expected to do too much for the smallest reward. They are the main face of the Club and if they are rude I am guessing its due to tiredness and being under valued by the Bosses. Phil

Hi Mark and Coral. We totally agree it's a problem for a lot of people. We went to the South meeting for C&MH club members. And at the time we with a lot of people disagreed with the chairman about paying a deposit. They said it would stop people block booking and to a point it has stopped that. @HitchUpAndTow we are thinking the same we are away at the moment and it's £80 cheaper than black knowl which is our go to site in the new forest. Cl sites and independent sites have now got to step up their game. This is where C&MH Will fall in my opinion

Hi guys as for the £57 you are getting to talk to experts regarding information on tow car choice,legal advise on everything not just caravans etc, discounts on products that aren't caravan/motorhome related. We just purchased a new dishwasher using the club discount and saved over £100 and still couldn't find that price for the same machine anywhere. As you rightly said the cl network is very good but you get to be members of all rally groups which allow for really cheap weekends away. But of course no one's told they must stay or leave it's all about what works for you.

I'm glad the caravan club has worked for you, but we have never saved money by being members, in fact everything we have ever got through the caravan club has cost us more. We will miss the CL network and perhaps that will be the one thing that brings us back. Only time will tell. Thanks for watching ATB

I’m not happy with them either, we are Customers now not Members. You have to tick a box not to pre pay before arrival. I’m waiting for feedback on a discussion I had at the Manchester Show, it’s a good job I’m not holding my breath. I’m very disappointed with the Clubs attitude, nobody cares or is interested anymore.

Catching up we have been away (again) LOL We have been waiting to get home to watch this. We used to have to pay deposits when we were members, they were non-returnable and non-transferable. The year before we left the CAMC made £19million profit and still wanted to rise the pitch price, a club would not do that. The Friendly Club are almost as bad these days but we stayed with them longer. My thoughts are pretty much your thoughts LOL

Hello Coral and Mark, only been a caravaner since last July and straight away we joined the ££££ club, every one we went to last year was a nice site, but when you look at other independent sites they are much cheaper and in a lot of cases better, so I think we may be one of the shortest members, the wardens are so nice, well the sites we went to, don’t know about the rest, and the App is a waist of time, great video guys, 👍👍.

Totally agree about CAMC. Way too expensive now . No longer a club but a business. I emailed them expressing my views and they basically were not interested. Told me to go on their sites with no facilities and electric if i though they were too expensive. I'm still a member but only because we use cls. Had a look at their Knaresborough site for Spring Bank. They want £62 a night. What do you get for that ? You are taking your own accommodation for heavens sake.

Great videos guys. We have found the CAMC sites to be overpriced and the facilities a bit dated. Back to the independent campsites for us.

Hi Mark & Coral, I've tweeted a few things about the club and my blog email inbox is filling up with 'me too' comments from members that are not happy with CAMC currently and a surprising number are saying they are considering letting their membership lapse when its up for renewal. 🤣been to the pub. I'm not allowed to touch the camera after I've had a drink or two LOL. We have a few different things like this over here. We don't belong to any of them. But the biggest and most expensive one, I've heard many complaints about. Personally, I never thought it sounded worth it 🤷🏻‍♀but there are some people that it really seems to work for.

I too have been a member for many years but already decided this is the last. No objection to paying deposits, indeed I think that is the right thing to do but I see no real advantages in being a member - or as someone else said, a 'paying customer'.

Re the club taking payment before you arrive, there is a box to tick/ untick asking if you want to pay before you arrive. It’s an option! I agree regarding the so called discounts in the shop , usually more expensive as is the insurance where they are brokers not insurers. I will be using more CLs and small sites this yr.

Hi Mark & Coral, great vlog, great minds think a like! The CAMC main sites as you know are not value for money, they are becoming a big money making business. They will eventually become too big and be taken over by the big wigs who only want more money out of a business. As you pointed out, their so called savings/discounts are not that cheap if you shop around. Like you I took their insurance out when we first got a van, I now pay £300 less than their quotes! A lot of great independent/private sites out there which offer fantastic value for your buck. Take care, Martin

We are with Amtrust through Compare Caravan Insurance. Always check the policy is right for you. ATB

Wow, that equates to almost 500 bucks a week to stay at an RV park. Parks over here have seen price increases, and much of it does depend on location of course. I choke when I have to pay more than 50 bucks a night to stay somewhere and ususually being the cheep ass that I am we try to find places for 20 to 25 bucks a night if we are going to to stay in a park. Good luck with your decision. s

I was a member of the other club, didn't use any sites because of work etc. Not renewed for the same reason it's cheaper to use non club sites

We're with the caravan club. We didn't tick the box to pay before you arrive we pay on arrivel you have a choice. The deposit bit is a pain but yrs ago you had leave a £5 deposit. The friendly club as you said arn't so frendly we never renewed with them you have leave deposit to. X

I agree with you CAMC has become extremely expensive been member since 2000 also caravaning since 1974 when I first started it was price per pitch loins cararvan club 2000 it was price per couple then they change it to per person that when it’s became expensive I use to book 8 club sites a year now down to one like you I look at pitchup for sites per couple usually £60 to £120 cheaper why they charge for children they are the future of caravaning

I’ve been caravanning for 35 years hardly use CC sites. Paying a deposit is the best thing they’ve done all other independent sites have always done this so can’t see a problem. Prices always vary from site to site. When my children were younger in the early 90s I paid then £400 per week in main season down Cornwall. You question why are we paying to the club well you don’t have to so just cancel it.

Hi, I agree that most other sites charge a deposit, but don't charge you £57 for the privilege of doing so and also don't over charge you for a pitch. The £400 plus CAMC site was not even in high season. We have done like for like comparisons and have found the Caravan Club are far more expensive. We won't cancel our membership, because I can't see us getting a refund, but we will not renew. Thanks for watching and your comment.

Hi.we sold our caravan last Saturday due to ill health. But I must say when they took the caravan away they took all my worries with it. Sick of caravan issues, site prices . So for me I'm going to cancel everything . Regards kev

Hope your heath issues improve soon. I know what you mean with tyres, servicing, the inevitable faults with the caravan every time you go away, storage and not to mention site prices, sometimes I don't know why I do it. Thanks for watching

Hear, hear! I use them occasionally for the odd night here and there but whether its worth it now I don't know, will check at renewal. Tbh I find the sites very 'samey' and not particularly interesting, most private sites are better in that respect, more personality and better value for money. Whether that will change too though once people leave the CAMC en masse and hit the private sites ... probably. Such a shame they're not a club anymore, just another greedy business.
