The truth was none of the original starting midfielders from La Scaloneta were fully fit during this WC, so we saw new guys like Alexis, Enzo and even Palacios feature. It shows the incredible squad depth in MF, but also the adaptiveness of the coach to know how to use different players.

Alexis was such an important piece in Argentina's world Cup winning squad. He created and dominated the mid field with Enzo. Big clubs gonna keep an eye on him in the Summer Transfer window.

Indeed, when I heard about Lo Celso's injury I was really bummed but I recovered my confidence once I knew Scaloni was calling Alexis.

He is a very talented player, hope to see him shine in the future

Alexis's ball control in the world was totally amazing.

When lo celso was out of the wc i was worried about the mid field but this guy came in as a treasure for Argentina such an important and impressive play by him

Those who see him play at our Argentinian League (Argentinos Juniors and Boca Juniors) knows that he is a really top level player.

@@astomas7469 no! that is because he is a work horse. people usually see and remember dribbles and not so much work rate. if you ask me to pick someone who hasn't won anything, to win something big in their career, i would immediately say Quaresma cuz of what an remarkable magician he is, BUT, he does not deserve to cuz he doesn't work hard enough to deserve it. but as i said most people remember small moments and don't usually care to analyze the game as a whole.

He has the capacity of becoming one of the greatest Argentinian midfielder ever... He's effortless...

I remember when he was bought by Brighton and was barely played, but did the best of each outing he had, gradually earning a spot in the team. Luckily no coach can ignore his talent now. May not be the best or flashiest midfielder but he is a very complete one with few weaknesses!

You know what happened, Messi, all Argentina teammates would die if necessary for Lio, and that type of mentality help a player being pushed to his limits and reach top level. Look at emiliano martinez, he said in an interview that when Messi told him in a penalty shootout that he had to save at least one, his approach to the penalties was do or die type of stuff and he has became the master in penalties now. I would love to see Mac Allister at united or arsenal.

If you understood a little bit of football you would have known that absence of those names you just took was the reason france reached to finals at ist place. If Pogba was playing france would be thrashed out way too early. Giroud more than filled up for Benzema & had a good world cup except final. Argentina won not because france were weak. They won because they were too good. Most versatile team in the world cup in terms of tactics & physicality. Brazil & france were overhyped as teams. France would have gone home early had Harry Kane not made mistake. As soon as Argentina won from Netherlands ( closest to Arg in terms of tactical versatility) i knew they are lifting the cup as other teams left were too predictable. Its rather Argentina's silly mistakes in the end of regular time that made france look competitive otherwise they were nowhere close to this Argentina side with or without likes of Pogba, kante , Benzema

In this type of tournament if you got easy group you will reach very far and I've witnessed this worked with Madrid and now Argentina because with easy opponent at first you can start very slow and be experimental with results in the end. If world cup happened in Round robin system world would get different champion. Not the best and perfect teams always win cup tournaments.

The truth is that Alexis Mac Allister was never a middle of the road midfielder. I think it is very common for europeans to underestimate south american players with little time in Europe. In part I think it's ignorance because obviously, you can't follow all south american football, so I suppose it's inevitable. The same happened with Enzo Fernández and Julián Álvarez. So many people surprised, but for us River Plate fans, we saw nothing at the World Cup that we hadn't seen before, it was just more of the same we already knew.

Alexis had a rough adaptation to the premier league. But after that he won a spot in brighton and managed to be that dependable player that he was in argentina but he is more complete now. I hope brighton manages to retain him and other young players in their squad.

If Mudryk is worth 100mio. Mac Allister should at least bring 70mio and not 45mio. He is still considerably a young player, but with consitent good performance, which can be a game changer as seen in the world cup tournament. In a few years, he can become a decent player to name along with players like, De Bruyne, Modric, Müller, etc. Brighton shouldn´t sell him under 70mio. this summer. I mean if his contract expires in 2025 they still can sell him in 2024 for 45mio, if noone wants him for 70mio. But I´m sure there are some teams which would pay that price for an world cup winner with good performanc.
