An underdog who seems to be taking the tennis world by storm might be the perfect way to describe professional tennis player Elena Rybakina. Or better still a tranquil yet moving force of nature. Emerging as the champion of the 2023 Italian Open, Elena not only put on a good show right up to the finals but defeated the reigning World no 1 in singles, Iga Swiatek on her way up, in the quarterfinals of the tournament. Her second WTA 1000 title of the year, her journey to this point has been a steady and highly applaudable progress.
She is the third woman of three; after Monca Seles and Maria Sharapova, to make it to the finals of four out of the five major tennis tournaments held yearly. Reaching the finals of the Australian Open, Indian Wells, Miami Open and the Italian Open is not an easy feat for any tennis player due to the varying surfaces to be played on. As such Elena’s adaptability and tennis finesse not only earned her the title but propelled her into the top five on the Women Tennis Association rankings for the first time in her career. The current World no. 4 in singles has caused a stir. Fans are buzzing, News outlets are on fire with stories of the underdog who first showed her propensity for success at Wimbledon last year causing us to wonder, what do tennis players think of Elena Rybakina?

I understand that for an English speaking person it is difficult to take the trouble to pronounce another person's name properly. Potentially Elena Rybakina will be playing professional tennis another 10 years, but even such a long perspective does not encourage some commentators to learn to pronounce ONE WORD correctly. Lack of respect, nothing else.

Oh a serious note is it these young girls faults they were born in a country w a guy like Putin??? C'mon I hate that war like anyone else....it's horrible...all Elena wants to do is play tennis and cuddle w kittens and puppies ..she's a young girl who prob hates the war...she changed her citizenship and sorry ONS but you lost ...it's NOT UR TITLE...we all love ONS but not when she acts like that but she's just very competitive and was even saying during Wimbledon she's on her revenge tour ..it's all good. Blame the dictator not the 22 year old young lady who just wants to play tennis. Hasn't she lost millions b cuz of this already??? And plz I will NEVER compare war to tennis but we have to be sensible too IMHO. Love ya Coco ..just don't like looking at ya!!!!

If Coco really said something about Rybakina, here's my response. As an American, I never really liked American players. I grew up rooting for Russian, Serbian, French, Spanish players or other players. I didn't and still don't like the arrogance of American players. Coco should grow out of her arrogance and certainly grow out of her wannabe Serena phase before speaking about Rybakina.
