Love the video, you two! Couple things of note to me… 20:30 I know the FMV between the FF 49 is a little higher for the Scarlet Spider book but, sheesh! I couldn’t have made that trade. The difference between a 9.8 NS ~$1600 and and a 9.6NS ~$200 is way too volatile for me. I’m not so certain the book from 1994 will retain that value. That said, the dude looks stoked so I’m happy for him. 21:57 the guy said CGC might get a bump grade down for an interior signature. That may be true, but according to The Official CGC Guide to Grading Comics (pg.188) “Signatures on the interior pages of a comic have no effect on the grade.” Keep up the good work! I love hearing all the commentary happening in the videos like this.

That was a pretty solid trade for noir. 250 for the Starwars box was a fair deal should be able to double your money. Was a fun video. Thanks guys. Best of luck to yall.

It was a 9.4 dude knew what he was trading roughly 800ish in comics for a 4-500ish book. He did not mind he got what he wanted and they got more inventory to sell. Good rule of thumb don't expect a even trade with dealers unless you have something they want for personal collection. I always want cash over comics but if the other party leads with crazy deal like that it would be dumb to say no.@@Saucy_Mcyolo

I agree! The Noir 9.8 was a sweet a book. Aphra is a spec at this point and 2nd print Spider-Gwen is no bueno. @@richardolney1822

Lots of frenetic activity, fans looking at comics, the Lego couple, Angelo's awesome Conan issue that gets the newsstand/double cover/Mark Jeweller trifecta: this is what a real comics convention is like. And I love the Perez anecdote. I'm with Sarah and I have zero interest in Taylor Swift; now that she's in or will be in Australia my interest has descended into negatives. Those fine art portfolios were awesome; I have a few but they were beyond my budget when they were released in the 1970s to 90s. I did buy a Mike Grell Warlord portfolio at a con in Sydney decades ago which he attended as a guest, with the first plate signed and numbered, and he signed the other five plates for me. Usually the portfolios were released in unsigned/cheaper and costlier s/n editions. I can only imagine what the Neal Adams, Barry Windsor-Smith and Frank Frazetta portfolios must cost now. Looking forward to Part 2.

The Conan isn’t a “triple threat” haha. Someone needs to tell him all Mark Jewelers copies of a certain comic are always the same. So it doesn’t make it rarer being a newsstand since every issue of this Conan that was printed with the Mark Jewelers for example will be a newsstand. Not all Mark Jewelers are newsstands of course, but every Mark Jewelers will always be the same. So like with this Conan, you’ll never find a Mark Jewelers variant that’s a direct edition. Like take New Mutants 98. There’s been a ton of those that have sold publicly over the years with the MJ insert. They are ALWAYS newsstand copies, so the newsstand isn’t some sort of rare element like it would be on a non MJ version, or normal 1st print.

I refuse to go to this con anymore! In my opinion Daytona and St. Augustine are the worst areas to hunt for anything comic beyond modern the modern era.

Why do people bring books to shows with no intent to sell? It just feels like showing off to the plebes.

To flex and draw more people in. When the wall books are popping it helps draw people to check your boxes. Most the time when folks are looking for big keys like that they know the price dealers know the price so just ask them.

I’m an older vintage toy collector I remember seeing so much original art at the cons and nobody wanted them.
