What is Your Mind Full of? Mindfulness in Prophetic Practice with President Hamza Yusuf
This lecture will look at the current crisis of overstimulation, TikTok, Snapchat, Netflix, WhatsApp, and myriad other distractions. Advertisers speak of “mindshare,” which according to Merriam-Webster’s dictionary denotes “a controlling or predominant hold of one’s attention that is gained especially by marketing ploys”-in other words, what share of your mind can they occupy? Advertisement means to divert your attention to something the ad campaign (a military term) wants you to be mindful of. Entertainment, according to the dictionary, means “agreeable occupation of the mind, diversion, amusement.” Who or what is occupying your mind? Our Prophet s occupied his own mind with remembrance of God. He said, “Whoever makes his concerns (what he or she is mindful of) one concern (God), God will take care of all his other concerns.” One of the Arabic words for mindfulness is muhtamm, which means “what one is concerned with.”

Cowards support liars. Telling a lie is easy. Believing a lie is easy. Being compliant is easy. Staying silent is easy. Trusting without thinking is easy. Thinking for yourself is hard. Standing up for what is right is hard. Being real & authentic is hard. In times like these it takes all the courage in the world to question the status quo and to speak up and tell the Truth. Trust the courageous.

Honorable & Most Revered Sheikh Hamza Yusuf Sahib is a treasure for the Muslim Ummah. May Allah SWT bless him for sharing his oceanic knowledge. May he be showered with thousands of blessings. May he have health, well being and a long life. I consider myself fortunate to have discovered him by chance. I am literally spellbound when I hear him and can only listen to him piecemeal. I breakdown intermittently and weep while hearing him. Then listen and savor a little more. I worry that the clip will end. I rewind and listen all over again. Such is my devotion to his lectures. Allah has blessed him to spread the light of knowledge about our religion and our beloved Rasool PBUH to the world. SubhanAllah. I send him my deepest regards from Islamabad, Pakistan where I am a humble professor.

I just misunderstood the Buddhist tradition integration in Islamic way and maybe comes later I get it as if I'm not mistaken is like that it related to Islamic reminders or dhikr . Please help me if I really got it shukran. Because it can be interpreted as Islam maybe influenced by buddhism and I just miss it and maybe I ought to review the whole AV presentation..

The Mindfulness meditation that has become popular in the west is taken from Buddhism that is always being aware of yourself and surroundings. What the Shaykh is trying to convey is that the concept of mindfulness in Islam is superior because the pious believer is Mindful of ALLAH at all times. That is true mindfulness where the heart and mind are aware and connected to The Creator for each every moment no matter what act they are involved him. And ALLAH knows best.
My mind is not able to be infiltrated by anyone. Both Heaven and Hell cannot stop me.

@@unknown.426 sufi is a broad term and usually when someone asks it they are asking about deviance. Short answer, yes, I suppose he is a Sufi. His Aqeedah is flawed, he encourages supplication TO the Prophet ﷺ. The videos and articles refuting him are abundant. I wouldn’t advise learning from him.
Some of the stuff he comes out with, is just foolish... if the Prophet (saw) did not have a shadow, doesn't he think the mushriks of makkah would have seen he doesn't have a shadow and believed him

Mushriks have seen many Mu'jiza from Habeeb ص like tree walking, splitting of moon and many more, yet they didn't believe. Rasul Allah ص indeed have no shadows.
