I've been teaching English for half a year now and only a few days ago I had an insight - if you're speaking some language from the very beginning of your life it doesn't mean you're advanced in it bc there are so many factors. Your mastery of language depends on how your parents spoke to you, whether they tried to develop your vocabulary and whether you read a lot in your native language. Language is just a tool, and different people master it to a different extent
