Piss, shit, used sanitary towels left on TOP of the sanitary towel bin, dozens of rats outside, flies and mould INSIDE on the food left in the warm, colleagues who stink to high heaven (not all of them by any means, but always those consistent three or four), rubbish bags dumped on the floor, and less than half our staff now we've been cut so low we scrape a pass in our audits.

My first job was at this pizza place called Pizzaland (imma shout em out because they deserve to be dragged into the ground). I worked there for 8-9 months before I had to call it quits. At first it was a great job with stable shifts and fun coworkers, I was also working with my best friend there. Literally would crack jokes, work hard and would get free staff pizzas every once in a while. My boss Chris at first glance was really cool and chill (which should’ve been a red flag already because I was 16 and he was 40...), but he tried WAYYYY TOO hard to be “friends”. The staff had their own issues, literally everyone had drama with everyone. After 6 months, I started to get tired and drained, not because of the actual work, but because of the fucking drama. It was like I was in school because everyone had shit to say and everyone gossiped. Chris would constantly make these really fucking creepy comments to me about how I’m really pretty out of uniform and I probably fucked a lot of guys, which I laughed it off and said I just have my boyfriend and that’s it. This went on for a while until one night, I finished my shift and changed in the bathroom because I had a date. Chris saw me, looked me up and down, and said verbatim “Wow you’re dressed up? You’re probably gonna get raped tonight”. I was in shock and my face was pretty much red. I was angry and really embarrassed because I was only trying to look nice for my boyfriend. I’m usually not sensitive to shit like that but the way this fucking 40 year old man looked at me was disgusting and made me feel so violated. The minute I turned 18, it got worse though. He would make so many sexual remarks about me liking to have rough sex with my boyfriend to make him jealous, that I let him cum inside me, and other incredibly vulgar shit. After 2 months of this, I fucking quit. Literally didn’t say a word and just grabbed my last paycheck and dipped for good. I wish I had recorded some shit he said so I can report him, because I want him and his mediocre pizza place to burn to the ground. He also tried to discreetly lower my hours on the payroll so I would earn about $60-$100 less, but thank god my dad kept track. Sorry for the long post, but this was the worst work experiences I have ever had and I just want younger people to know from my experience that (A) your boss, is just your boss. Be friendly, but always remember he is in charge of you and don’t try to be “buddies” with them, especially if you’re young. A lot of shit people WILL take advantage of your lack of experience and naivety. (B) if your boss every crosses the line, file a fucking complaint WITH EVIDENCE. Get that bitch fired and never look back. TLDR; my boss was creepy and disgusting, don’t let them take advantage of your patience.

Not so bad but 1 story reminded me of this: went to pull a Sat. shift at a call center. They promoted a b* as supervisor. No calls, bored, started browsing CNN. She sees this, says, "You're not allowed on non-company websites," and makes me log off & just sit there. Another guy had brought in his gameboy. She's watching him play, exclaims, "Go left! Go left! Can I try?" I thought if he's playing gameboy, & she's joining, I can certainly read news, & logged back on, silently daring her to report me. She never did.

I work at subway, first job. At my particular subway, the management is absolutely terrible. New people get thrown into closing shifts after only working two days without being properly trained. There are no shift leaders or managers working nights so we the workers have to deal with the crap that some evil customers put us through. Morning shifts sometimes won't leave anything for you so you'll have to start everything from scratch and explain to furious customers why you're currently out of bread or a certain meat. The person who was supposed to work with you did a no call no show? Well you're pretty much screwed then, good luck on finding someone who will want to work their shift. Breaks? What are those? I've worked 13 hours (worked someone's shift after having worked mine, no call no show) standing up the entire time without a single break. Yes, we can take breaks. However, there is no one else to do the work we're supposed to do when we take a break so we pretty much screw ourselves over by taking a break, as those 30 minutes we were taking said break we could have been using to get things done. Also, if you leave the store late after closing, you'll get yelled at even if it was a ridiculously busy day. They want you out of there as soon as the store closes, but if you do a bad closing job then you'll get yelled at too. There have been times where others and I have had to stay 2 or 3 hours after closing to get everything done (we close at 11pm). I've been working there for 1 year and 3 months, I'm the only one that's stuck there and I've just about had it with that hellhole, putting my notice in when I go in next week.

Irvin A. I know exactly how you feel. I worked at Subway back in 2012 for about three months after college and it sucked. I don’t see very well and am pretty laid back anyway so I was really slow. Got yelled at for that. Too k more than five minutes for a fifteen minute break. Got yelled at for that too. Tried to speed up my sandwich making by practicing with ingredients at home. Didn’t help in the slightest. The one saving grace was the owner. He was an absolutely awesome guy who never got mad at me, got everybody else to teach me properly and gave me four hour closing shifts on the weekdays. Something I could reasonably do since that was the slowest time. He eventually had to let me go because an awesome Korean couple who had a second job on the school board and were easily sixty each needed my hours. They were always helpful to me and I wasn’t even mad. Upset, sure, but not mad. He also let me make a last lunch for myself the day after my last shift when I came to get my last paycheck. Meatballs with bacon, chips, drink, three cookies. All for free as a thank you for my work. Easily one of the best bosses I’ve ever had.

I worked as a costumed character for a Six Flags Amusement Park. I was a face character, dressed as Wonder Woman, had to deal with some of the most perverted guests. They were middle aged males, with teenage mentalities, or annoying college girls trying to be “edgy” for their online social media. I was goose pinched, stroked, or slapped on my butt. One guest hugged me even though I told them not to touch me. One girl forced a kiss on me, in a similar manner to that iconic photograph of that sailor kissing the nurse at the end of World War 2. I had her and other guests who were too handsy ejected from the park, though security wouldn’t always cooperate. Fortunately it was only for one summer.

Walmart return center. I worked there as temp work and the day i got sent there they told me "it has a high turnover rate". They werent kidding. It was like working in a sweatshop getting in pallets of product in boxes usually sliding them across a conveyor belt by hand with the whole building only having 2 working acs while having 6 installed. It was 10 hrs a day working in the hot las vegas heat in a warehouse thats mostly roasting the whole time. I got let go i could only assume because i wasnt working at a slaves pace. Oh, and they had a metal detector at the front because they didnt trust anyone, except the guard who came to inspect everyone before he sat in the security room the whole day. They also have us sign ndas because of the shit they throw out, like whole bicycles to scrap and the bunch of liquidity of items sitting in the warehouse. Just so you werent tempted telling friends/aquaintances where they can find shit like whole pallets of returned ps4s and xbox ones.

Eight times a day, two days in a row, I would get arrested & had my head & hands stuck in wooden stocks for a half hour so people could throw water balloons at my head, which they'd already shaved becuz I was 'a criminal.' Totaled over 8 hours bent over in stocks for $7.75/hr. Muscles in neck, shoulders, back and arms ached for days afterwards, plus bald head, chest, back & arms sunburned because they only had only spf 8 the first day. First & definitely last acting job.

I worked for an inventory service. We basically went into a store and counted what stock was on the shelf. You'd only be paid drive time if it was over 45 minutes and in their vehicle. One day, our group finished a store and they told us to go to another store. Nobody agreed to go. They had us wait 2 hours while a manger got there to tell us "Well I hear we got a bus of people that aren't team players." Didn't say it but thought "Bit**, you ain't payin' us enough for this to be our only job and you can't spring a double shift at the last minute." She docked the 2 hours we waited. Didn't say anything, got home, called the office, told them I quit, it had been less than a week. Got a job scraping gum off floors and cleaning toilets and didn't mind it at all. It was a far better job because the boss respected us.

I remember working for an inventory service, but I don't ever recall having to do multiple stores in a single day. Though, maybe that's because several managers had their kids (including me) working with them, so we ended up with so much overtime that the company practically ordered us not to work more than a few days per week. So generally by mid-week we'd worked as much as they'd let us. Plus, sometimes it was hard to estimate how long a store would take to finish. If the clerks were on the ball and resolved any issues quick, great, you'd be out in a few hours. But if you got no help those jobs could go all day. It was a good first job for me, but looking back, I realize I never would have applied if I didn't already have someone on the inside (with a car).

I used to work for a junk removal company. The worst part about the jobs wasn’t so much the physical labor, but it was the different jobs we had to do. The worst jobs were always the hoarder houses and restaurants because of the sheer volume of crap, and the smell. One house took us 4 days to clear out, and required all of our trucks. The worst experience I ever had was attempting to clear out a Mexican restaurant on the outskirts of Chicago. This restaurant had been out of business for almost a year. We walk in, and the scent was so foul, it hit our nostrils like a Prime Mike Tyson haymaker. The cooking oil had turned into a thick, black sludge, the chicken was decomposed to a gray, slushy paste. I was one of the first guys to take a few to puke.

Let him do whatever he wanted which sometimes meant cleaning up after messes, watching the boy touch food we were to serve after playing in his mess, watching them casually walk into our stock room and bring out food for them to eat when we weren't allowed to, walk in the kitchen when they weren't allowed, and the oldest actually working in the kitchen.....she was 11. The worst job for me was working on a packing production line for Vlasic pickle company. The smell was so strong and we had to make sure the pickles were packed tight in the jar. I got brine juice in my eye and it hurt. The manager would yell at us over the intercom to go faster (the verbal equivalent of cracking the whip). It was standing only. I lasted one day. My feet and fingers hurt so much. I went home and never went back. It was good incentive to stay in school though.

Daughter worked for a time at a dairy farm in upstate NY. Started as a desk jocky in the office and got bored. Asked for something more interesting with more challenges. They let her do production tracking or something like that. Each cow had a quota to produce and if it didn't make it off to the slaughterhouse it went. When the production sheet was spit out some cows numbers were highlighted in red. She had to get a red paint stick and find the cow in the feeding/milking shed and mark its forehead with the red "mark of death". She was the milkhouse Mengele. She quit after about 4 months.

One that still gets me to this day was my first internship. It was my last semester in college and one of the things needed to graduate was a 9-week internship. I found one in our school paper that stated it payed (also since I was job-hopping at the time due to my extreme depression and anxiety, this would've been perfect (I'm better now, for those wondering)) It was a 40 minute drive and was in Miami... one of the worst places for traffic, and my car had no AC so driving there was hell. But the job was relatively pleasant enough. Anyway, I worked there for about 3 weeks and asked about my pay....boss told me it was unpaid. (She was also the textbook definition of a Karen) I told her the internship said it was paid, and I even texted her a pic of the paper stating the position I worked and having it say it was paid. She told me it was outdated, even though that paper was from that same month and year. I told her my financial situation-- I could barely afford housing and I couldn't even get gas. Slowly over the course of a few days, I stopped showing up. Enraged she texted me, I again, told her I couldn't afford gas. She offered me $30 a week (which wasn't even enough for that!) and told me to work full-time hours that would interfere with my classes. I told her I definitely couldn't do that, her response, verbatim, "I already called your school. Do this full-time or don't even bother coming back." I told her to go fuck herself and deleted her number. I got a new internship a week later which I ADORED. (Because of this whole experience, I got a C in my internship course.. But it was so worth it since I no longer had to be some Karen's personal bitch)

I watch a lot of these worst job sorts of videos and frequently (and rightfully so) I see Kirby vacuums mentioned, so figured I'd finally tell my story. I'll need to provide some context first. I was straight out of high school (was a 16 year old senior, so I was YOUNG), and had moved straight in with my 25 year old boyfriend the day after graduation. When I say I moved in with him, what I really mean is he had been living with his parents his whole life, and our place was his first. His ONLY contribution was signing the lease since I wasn't old enough. I had all the money saved for first, last, deposit, utilities activation, etc. I had also bought EVERYTHING for the place. Furniture, dishes, linens, you name it. He literally just moved his clothes in.. He was a massive stoner and somehow managed to hide it from me, probably because I only saw him a few hours everyday, and for some reason (this was 30 years ago, so I don't remember the reason), I sold my car?? So here I was trapped in our apartment, nowhere near anyone we knew, and we had no phone line. I could walk a mile up to the busy highway right off the interstate, make it across 5 lanes of traffic to use the payphone at a gas station, but for obvious reasons didn't care to repeat that often. My boyfriend worked as a cook at a country club, and had a split shift. He'd wake up, get high, go work the two hour breakfast rush, come home, eat breakfast, get high, go back for lunch. Come home, eat lunch, get high, go to the dinner rush. Come home, have dinner, get high, play video games, and fall asleep. I got sick of that sh*t real quick, so noped out and went back to my mom and step-dad's house. I left every single thing I had bought for the place, which in retrospect was stupid, but that's how badly I wanted out. First thing I did was find a job, but not having a car (still don't remember why because I had one all senior year), my options were limited. An office park not a quarter mile from where we lived had posted job openings so I walked over there to apply. After much run around and double talk, I learned it was for Kirby Vacuums. The business itself bore the initials of the ""CEO/Owner", so you really had no clue til you were trapped in a room with 20 other equally clueless people. I was literally the only woman (girl, really, given my age), present and was hired immediately. Again, not having a vehicle, I was put in with the van crew, which consisted of five grown-ass men, all of whom also didn't have vehicles except for the supposed supervisor. So we drive to the next state over, a good hour, hour and a half from the office and I was dropped off by myself in a subdivision and was told to put my demo box out front of the house I was in so they could find me. All I'd had was a few hours training at the office prior to being thrown into a van with five strangers. I did remarkably well, and was landing a sale at the first place I got to let me in. My "supervisor" showed up some time later, took over completely and stole my sale right out from under me! I held my tongue in front of the customers, but as soon as we left I angrily demanded to know why he poached my sale. He said he was "training" me. "B*llsh*t! Give me my sale back!" I knew he was trying to bully and take advantage of me because of my age, but I had a 140 IQ and was very precocious, so I was having none of it. Growing up with three older brothers didn't hurt either! He blew me off and said *maybe* if I "did what I was told" he'd share the commission with me. "From MY sale? That's generous of you!" I bode my time, stewing in my anger until we were reunited with the crew to head home. I had made a connection with the youngest of the guys, I believe he was 19 or 20, and since I could relate best to him, attached very quickly. I discretely told him what the supervisor did to me, and he said that had happened to him as well. Apparently he did this to everyone so he could loaf in the van all day and sleep. I mentally checked out and planned to quit as soon as we got back because no way in hell was I going to be taken advantage of by some bully too lazy to do his own work. I later learned he was friends with the owner, so no one bothered to complain because you just knew it wouldn't do any good. We get about 15 minutes down the road and I notice we're heading a different way than we came. I ask if we're going back to the office or was there something more to be done. No one answered. An eerie silence enveloped the van, and I had a feeling in my gut that I wasn't safe. There was nothing I could do. I was trapped in a van doing 65 mph in an unknown location and the sun was setting. Suddenly, I see the young man who I'd connected with, let's call him Chad, pop his hand behind the front passenger seat (I was sitting directly behind him), and he wiggled his fingers. Scared and desperate for reassurance, I grabbed his hand with a vise-like grip and prayed silently that whatever was going on would just be revealed already because not knowing was worse than whatever my overly active imagination was coming up with (read, I thought I'd be killed and dumped in a ditch on those rural back roads.) Finally, the supervisor (let's call him Eric) spoke up. He said, "Remember when I said if you did as you were told you'd get some commission? Well, van crew is tight knit. We all get initiated in differently, so to speak. For everyone here, I get their first sale, but I'm going to do something different with you. You're going to get f*cked in!" I had to choke back the vomit hurtling up my throat, as I had been raped when I was younger. That's how my virginity was taken, and I would rather be dead in the ditch than go through that again, and I now understood why Chad had slipped his hand back to me. I'm guessing this was discussed with at least the some of van crew because no way can one guy spring that on 5 other people, no matter whose friend he is! I must have looked white as a ghost because the guy sitting next to me said, "Eric, you know she's a kid, right? She's not even eighteen yet." He looked at me in the rear view mirror and said, "Okay then, I'll just make you go once. Pick who you want to f*ck you into van crew." Again, I choked back the vomit and squeezed Chad's hand, silently begging him to do something. Anything! He bravely spoke up and said no way was that sh*t happening on his watch, and told Eric "You'll have to kill at least half of us if you try. This ain't cool!" One of the other guys finally spoke up and agreed, and the floodgates burst open and the others quickly echoed that sentiment. Eric pulled over, ripped his seat belt off and stared me down. "What happens in the van, stays in the van! If ANYONE breathes a word of this, you will be sleeping with one eye open the rest of your lives!" He eyed each person in the van in turn, and then turned around and started the van back up. When we got back to the office, I ran to the bathroom and threw up. Chad was waiting for me when I came out. He asked if he could walk me home, which, honestly, I was wondering how I was going to do that when my legs were rubber. Eric was staring us down from across the room and we slipped out as quickly as we could and Chad walked me home in silence. When we were 30 feet or so from my driveway, Chad stopped and apologized for what happened and said he was quitting and telling the police. I don't know if he did. Nothing came of it that I know of. No one ever contacted me, and I've never told another living soul in these last 30 years. I can't blame any of that on Kirby, although their recruiting tactics were totally misleading, they bullied and pressured you into being aggressive with sales, and obviously, this particular office had the worst element supervising employees that were under their complete control. I just hope Eric never tried that crap with any other woman. I will always regret not going to the police because if it did happen to some other woman, without Chad there to speak up, who knows what could've happened. I just like to think Eric stopped with that crap when everyone in the van stood up to him. I do know that about a year or two later the place was no longer there. Hopefully it went out of business. Feels good to finally let that secret go! Also of note, about a decade after this when I was married with kids, a relative told me that my old boyfriend was in prison for raping a toddler. Dodged a bullet all around!

EDIT: *I was typing on my phone, and I realized I typed 32 hours instead of 3. I worked in a bakery, and I had to clean up after everyone. I also lifted 50 lbs. of frozen dough almost everyday. Bakeries are really dirty if there is not enough staff to clean up, or no one is cleaning as they go. Cleaning out the steamer was not fun, but the worst was cleaning up rotten dough that spoiled. There was always dirt and grime everywhere, and I was the only one cleaning the bakery. There were times when I could not finish everything by the time I clocked out, so I had to stay 3 hours after my shift. Sometimes, my manager would get mad when I would stay later, then clock out afterwards. She would not schedule more people in the evening to help me clean, either. People would also just leave frosting and other shit all over the floor. No one ever cleaned dishes they used, so I had to all of that. I was also left alone to serve customers at the busiest times, because my 18 year old manager would just leave in the afternoon. She also had me work on a couple of lunch breaks. I would not recommend, especially if it's not union.

Walmart Cart Pusher in the middle of a city that was made for 1/3rd the population they catered to. Their parking lot was constantly full and there was always somebody looking for ways to defraud the company in the parking lot to get things fixed on their car. We worked in all weather with no machines, because they were always substandardly fixed and we were told to use them to push more than they could handle. When they finally had customers complain about seeing us go through the 40 degree rain with no coats or anything, they told us to grab coats from the camping department. Come to find out after I was fired from there for 'causing damage to cars', which was just the aforementioned fraud that they just assumed we did, the store manager was purposely ignoring all costs and refused to fix any damage or fire anybody who was willing to work in literally dangerous situations. This was because she was giving herself a million dollar bonus and immediately retired. The district manager that took over saw the store go into some heavy losses trying to fix everything after she left. And to double down on this. Every cart pusher was expected to do any job across the store. This was because we were paid the lowest and would never get raises because of the false infractions we accrued. Thus they didn't need to hire people for other jobs in the store and it was cheaper.

Preface: I once worked for 2 1/2 years at McDonalds - NO. That's wasn't THE job. Just context. I recently worked at Whataburger for 2ish months. That was the job. Interviewing head manager had left before the appointment(red flag 1) so interviewed with other manager. Which meant nothing as was just told to come back tomorrow for real interview. Came back and did real interview this time(lady just felt off). 1-2 weeks after being hired just waiting to start the job with zero communication(red flag 2). Called to come in with only 1ish hour notice. Came in, but no time to shave. 1 regular manager Chelsea (not real name) gave crap for it (very vice principal tone; red flag 3) 2-3 weeks spending 2 hours a day watching instructional videos on a company issued laptop. Had to be in restaurant, on the clock, and in uniform just to watch the videos, which were on the company website, so theoretically could just be done at home.(rf 4) Then was made the drink maker for the drive thru for most of the time. Was occasionally made to "learn" new parts of the store, but they didn't really teach and had little patience for how long it would take you to learn it by yourself. Chelsea had 0 patience vice principal demeanor whole time. Got another job offer that much paid better. Accepted offer and dropped off uniform that afternoon and told one of the fellow workers there I was done. Head manager lady who had hired me called me on non-restaurant phone so didn't know to ignore. 9.00 hr was not worth it. Especially with Chelsea. When I told her replacement job was $20 hr she gave up. Probably better pay than what she had. 2 1/2 years at McDonalds was fine and good. 2ish months at Whataburger and I couldn't wait to leave. Something to think about in The Twilight Zone.

Worst job I ever had was CVS. Nothing can hold a candle in my life to how bad that company treats its people. They purposely schedule you when they know you need a day off. Give uneven work loads so certain people need to work 5 times harder than someone standing right next to them. Make you work a closing shift. Then open the next morning. Then Overnights the rest of the week. My raise was from one minimum wage to the newer minimum wage at the time. They ONLY promote people who are abusive because "Your co workers won't do what you tell them if they like you." I had managers MORE THAN ONCE cause a horrible avalanche of products that fell and hurt people. Only for them to literally RUN to the office. Wait for like a 15 minutes. Then come back and yell at everyone cleaning because "YOU GUYS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS!!!!!!!" That was 2 managers in 2 different stores. I'll never forget my time in CVS because it was the worst 3 years of my professional life. I cant tell you how happy I am now as a Welder who doesn't need to deal with ANY of that ever again.

I did a lot of contract work as an admin in long-term positions. I finally decided to get a job with benefits, so I interviewed with a county agency for an Admin job. Many businesses consider Admins as receptionists and, in some cases, pack mules (must lift 50lbs?!?) Since I just wanted to stay busy, I was very clear that I did not do reception work - I’m good at it, just dislike it. As soon as I signed on the dotted line, I was told I'd also handle reception. The environment was hostile - my peers and manger acted as if I were a plague-ridden slug that had just crawled out of the ooze. It got to be so bad, it was affecting my health and my doctors told me to quit. The next Monday I called my agency and told them I was available and was offered an open-ended job at an auto parts plant. I wrote a 4-page letter of resignation detailing why I was quitting - misrepresentation of the position, negative/dismissive attitudes of the manager and immediate coworkers, etc. The only friendly people were in IT, so I knew all the gossip. My manger was not in, so I notified the Executive Director and he was such a _____, I told him everyone knew about his affair with my manager. He went quiet and then asked me to wait for the manager who, after reading the letter, told me to leave. BTW, there were no cell phones at this time, so she was blindsided. Good times.

Call Center Agent for a certain company starting with an "E" and ending with an "ay". Your supervisors use you to boost their own statistics/ego. They act nice but the moment youre screwing with their metrics they start making your life hell. Also the fact that they tell you that you gotta throw people under the bus at times is terrible. I still remember having to deny a single mother's appeal with the money we took from her. The money she made from the sale was supposed to go to her mortgage and I'll never forgive myself for putting her on the street cause my boss said to do so. The people that call you are also a mixed bag. Some are horrible like that one stoner complaining about his anime merch or as pleasant as that one Vietnam veteran inquiring about a certain collector coin.

Once upon a time i got the bright idea to open an all night café. Found an existing café that i convinced to share it with me. It had one namn at the day and one at night. It was near a busy nightclub-area, and i thought it would be great with all people who wanted coffee and a snack after the bars closed. After two weeks of cleaning up after way to drunk people i regretted my choice. But had a 6 month trial lease. Made good money, but never again.

I was washing dishes because I was really desperate as I couldn't find anything for a long time. They only had a small and really old dishwasher which broke one day... the owner(s) knew but didn't bother to do anything about that so I had to do it manually. In a restaurant -- there even wasn't enough crockery for that, so it really sucked. Plus my job was also making homemade limos and delivery (very rarely there was someone to do the dishes while I was busy with something else). I was drained physically and psychically then ended up in a hospital with a gallbladder attack which resulted in an infection. (Needless to say I once got a gallbladder attack while working! I was feeling rather nauseous and all the smell around made it even worse. But it was so understaffed they couldn't send me home, so I had to work while feeling like throwing up at any second). Lasted for a year... proud of myself.

One of the absolute worst things my old food delivery job did, that STILL pisses me off to this day: Schedules are posted on Sundays. I checked my schedule, I go in at 3pm on Wednesday. Cool. Tuesday night I'm up late on the phone with my boyfriend. I go to sleep at 3am. 8:30am rolls around and my job calls me. I think they want me to come in earlier, so I ignore the call. Then my phone starts blowing up. They call five times until I finally pick up. My boss says I'm late. I said "no I'm not, I don't go in until 3." They insist no, it's 8:30am. I think that maybe I read the schedule wrong. So I'm super tired and I go in. While I'm preparing my delivery orders, TWO other people say "yeah, I thought I wasn't scheduled today. But they called and said I was." The f*ckers took on a bunch of orders for Wednesday morning and DIDN'T inform the employees that there was a schedule change because they needed more help. People check those when they're posted and make their weekly plans based off them. I myself planned to sleep in Wednesday morning and no one told me I had to work. I was absolutely furious. Oh and I still had to work my afternoon shift that day. The icing on the cake was that they were mad at ME for not showing up on time. I should've walked out then and there. No wonder that job had such a high turnover rate, people were no call, no showing all the time. It was so poorly run and the employees were always expected to pick up the slack for poor management. I understand they have to take the food orders they receive, but they have to understand that the employees should be at least aware if their help is needed and ask if they can come in if the schedule's already been posted. That place no longer gets my business because when I ordered from them years after that (different location), they still can't get it right and have to send out drivers to fix their mess. They don't deserve my money just like they didn't deserve my labor.

Easily Jimmy Johns. They either under-schedule you, or groom you to think you have a shot at moving up the ladder only to relegate you to a specific position with extreme hours in a dead end situation. Being a teenager, they only gave me 3 hours shifts. Manager was passive aggressive and made me clean the grease trap every week. Never again.

The worst job I had since December 1996 is the Whitby Ontario Durham Property Maintenance snow shoveling job I cannot work in the middle of the night. The truth is than not only I am a special needs man, but also working night shifts is my biggest disability all the time. Base as a direct result of their incompetence for endangering my life, I put down my snow shovel and walked away from them walking back alone at night for their own good. If they ever tell me to come back here, I will ignore them for real as if what I did.

I know a guy who worked at a titanium factory (obviously not "factory" but close enough) and made either $200-400k a year, working near 12 hour shifts every weekday. He quit that after saving up enough money to do every mod he wanted to his car, and now he's very happily working at a crappy gas station that my other friend who works there hates so much. Now he's just dreaming of putting 2JZs in a miata. Whatever that job was, it must've been horrifying for him to be happy with the gas station job he has now

Definitely either my time in Stone Plastics (KY) or Martinrea Inc. (KY again). The former was a plastic factory that had me running four machines in blistering heat for near minimum wage. Lasted a day before getting called out for work at almost double the rate an hour elsewhere. The other was an automotive factory that either kept catching fire every other month or paid similarly to the above gig with plenty manual labor. Basically stay away from factory jobs.

worst i have worked for was a small business after the much better original owner passed it down to his son because "he has a business degree" successful local business closed less than a year after the takeover because a business degree does not make you good at running a business except perhaps into the ground. note - son was not only a complete idiot and had no concept of what was needed to run the business he used the company money to fulfill all his hobbies......an example, first week he took over payroll was delayed by 3 days (usually get paid on tuesdays that week friday) because he spent 15k on comic books for his own collection

Worked at a hotel in Southport only worked 10 hrs a week then dropped to 5 then none just made excuses all time saying it was quiet they just wanted rid of me no reason whatsoever. They never got things right a lot of time went in no shift. Worst part was kitchen one or two chefs/porters always sneering back stabbing folk asked to tidy kitchen which was not part of the job I was doing others saying do cutlery like no one could make their bloody mind up. Last job was a mushroom farm on months probation struggled to keep up with things but they did not muck me around. Wonder what next year will bring for me once this awful virus finally goes away fed up of getting in a bad/wrong job being messed around/struggling to keep things up. Will stand up/ take action if they start treating me like what they did at that hotel

Had a job at a lumber mill pulling miss lengthened boards off of a conveyor belt before they were cut into smaller boards down the line . First day of the job as the boss is showing me what to do he casually says something like " yeah you just need figure out how best to grab the boards, just don't be a dumbass and shove your hand in the conveyor gears like the last guy because it will rip your arm off. I still worked there because I was desperate for money, but I would let boards slide past if they went anywhere near those gears . I Pissed a lot of people off, but I couldn't care less. As soon as I had enough money to pay my bills that month I quit on the spot.

Gilster Mary lee they produce generic foods. If you work cereal you will be covered in sugar dust which might as well be chemical glass, if you work in pop corn you will be covered in butter dust, and it was hands down the most unsafe factory I ever stepped foot in. The pay and hours were crap as well. I flaked out fairly quick and would rather work drive through for fast food which is its self bad. That and McAlister's most of the other people were kids from upper middle class families with an entitled sense of importance. Every thing possible there comes in bags, and the kitchen conditions were worse than some of the seedier places I worked. The funny thing was that fairly well to do people would come in and order the food thinking they were getting premium when in reality they would get fresher safer food products at McDonalds, Arby's, or Burger King.

I worked at a thrift shop and the boss was really open about being an “ex”mafia enforcer. He was cool, the people I worked with were cool, but loading semitrailers after taking stuff off of smaller trucks to send stuff to other location was hell on the back. The people living in the apartments were druggies, their dealers, or shooters. One day there was a car that came down the backstreet, nice car, clean 3 people inside , I think you can guess what happened next. Working there may sound dangerous, but when you sell the cheapest stuff around and everyone comes in you’re safer than you will be in the country
