Crispy vs crunchy

For grilled cheese, if I"m just having it alone, I like it a bit lighter. But if I'm having it with soup, I like it a bit darker. Just seems better for dipping for me.

tbh maybe it's my own perception but i feel like his "strong preferences" were more from being in pain from his arm; i noticed him getting irritable sometimes which could have been from flareups or improper posture

@@CorvusCorone68 hes always like that though. link has strong opinions on food. he has this strong emotional response that colours his judgement at least insofar as food but I would bet more broadly. you can even see it here with how quickly he is swayed by the fishy skin suggestion and how he avoids the burnt parts on the first sandwich and then likes the second one, as if hes never tried burnt toast vs rhett whos tried it. but there are way more examples

That grilled cheese question was not fair on Link, they were not presented with a "burnt" grilled cheese sandwich, they were given a slightly darker toasted sandwich. The phrasing of the question was not good enough, so of course the mythical beasts wouldn't select burnt while thinking that meant a completely blackened toast while what was originally intended was just a perfectly fine looking toast. Link was right to think more people would choose what he saw on the plate

I think that's the point though. GMM is a social media business so they specifically put the polls on Twitter and Insta to push engagement on their other social platforms. They're trying to encourage fans to engage with them outside KZread.

Darker-toasted or "well-done" would have been MUCH more accurate to describe the grilled cheese than "burnt" when compared to "lightly golden." What did they expect?? 😂 I practically set my kitchen on fire on a regular basis because of how dark I toast my grilled cheeses, and even *I* wouldn't have chosen the "burnt" category, lol.

For the cookie thing, if they’re homemade I like chewy. Store bought I prefer crunchy because the chewy ones have a gross flavor to me personally 😅😂

Rhett understands the perfect homemade cookie! I made some just the other day that had just that. Crisp on the outside but chewy and gooey everywhere else!

I like a *lot* of things burnt tbh-like legitimately burnt. Popcorn, grilled cheese, toast, chicken, blackened vegetables.. as soon as I get the first hint of burning smell, that’s how I know it’s done. But unless you’re that person, the word burnt probably only means _inedibly_ burnt. I def agree the poll would have been more even if golden vs ‘burnt’ was replaced by something like ‘dark’, or even lightly toasted vs _slightly_ burnt.

I think using "burnt" as a descriptor and then having that particular grilled cheese was kinda the issue. Visually thats not burnt, that was just nicely crispy and I'd totally pick that, but if I heard or read "burnt" I wouldn't pick that.

I love the addition of the pie chart also! I think instead of giving 3 points for being within 15% though, it would be more exciting to give varying points at percentage intervals. I.e. within 20% gives 2 points 15% 3 points and so on or some variation of the sort. Within 2% = 5 points 🎉

As a person who prefers the basically burnt grilled cheese and toast, I like it because to me the point of toasting something is to make it toasted, and lightly toasted still feels like untoasted bread for me. I like the crunch.

Rhett 100% nailed it on the cookie analysis regarding store-bought vs home. At home, there’s no other option for me except chewy. At the store it has to be the crunchy Chips Ahoy. That’s a tough call based on interpretations.

The dark grilled cheese was perfect! That was in no way burnt. The other sandwich was undercooked.

The way Rhett explains eating was actually quite poetic

I think that both floppy and crispy bacon serve a purpose. For example, in a sandwich I will always make the bacon a bit crispy. However, if I’m eating the bacon by itself with eggs I’d prefer it slightly floppy.

I'm definitely in the Rhett boat. I like the variety of textures. It's what makes the food even better!

That chart definitely started as a pitch to be another one of Link’s gut check charts. Maybe they decided it was too cool to be a one time thing lol

The art and prop department on this show really are great. I feel like they don’t get enough credit sometimes. Rhett was right about that being so cool and pretty and that’s actually fairly simple compared to a lot of stuff they do.

I got the fry one completely right so that makes me feel kinda good. Great episode as always and props to the crew for making all this possible.
