What's The Difference?? No Tint VS Light Smoke VS Dark Smoke Headlight Tint
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
An answer to the question many of you have been asking. How much does headlight and taillight tint effect the light output of your lights?? In this video I show you exactly what it's like without tint, with light tint and with dark tint on the headlights. With a side by side comparison showing the difference between each one.

7:20 - "You should not be driving at night time if you can't see right now." Words to live by, Thank you for that.
The problem with this is that the camera sensor can change its sensitivity to compensate for different light levels. The real way to do this would be with a light meter to get a lux reading. The only exception is the one shot where he has one dark and one light at the same time.

If the camera settings were all set to manual and the non-tinted image was not clipping then this comparison WOULD work. But with a camera set to any auto mode (T/A/ISO) then the comparison fails. Side by side of the WALL would be very helpful. I am thinking about a light smoke tint for a Daytona Gray RS5... undecided.

And even with the light and dark tint, you can see that the light output is reduced. Told me all I needed to know.

If he used a real camera and locked all settings that would be a fair comparison.. Set the setting based on no tint, the use the same settings for all 3
I'm pretty sure his camera is adjusting the exposure to make all of them look identical in light output. Need to set camera to manual settings for fair test.

Looks really good, thank you Christian!👍🏼👍🏼
People are saying the camera settings are the flaw of this test, but I think the real flaw is the distance from the wall. There is not a difference in the comparisons because the headlights are too close to the wall. At a farther distance, there would be a noticeable difference. Great video though. I appreciate the time that you took out of your day to upload.

Its both, coz the brightness could be affected by setting such as exposure and white balance. On top of that, a light output test against a wall thats 3 meters away is nowhere near relative to what the lights would be used for. So all in all, this really was a senseless test that should have been done with the wall being more than 20ft away from the car as that would be where it would matter most.

One major problem with all these perspectives and side line analyses is that he is telling you what he is seeing with his own eyes. Unless you're openly calling him a liar I think he can judge pretty well. Bro looks pretty fit, don't think his eyes are likely to be fudged🤑. Beyond that, do you all really think he hasn't, given what he does for a living, driven tinted hl down the road. Trust is always an issue but if Bro lies he will lose rep and therefore business, which he won't do. Great vid as always. Keep em coming👍👍🤑
Hey Chris. I found your channel by accident and I'm so glad that you're from Vaughan. Many of your videos are so informative and you're very confident and knowledgeable in what you're doing. I just got my 2019 Civic hatchback sport touring and I'll definitely hire you to wrap my car!
Thanks for making the vid. Much appreciated. LUX meter would help quantify light output. Even with manual exposure, its pretty difficult to show realistic brightness changes through a camera. Most aren't aware that human eyes dont see brightness in a linear fashion. When it comes to concentrated light, for our eyes to perceive double the brightness, the light output needs to quadruple.
Tinting doesn’t matter when you have camera eyes 👍🏽

OMG so glad someone took the pain and time to do this. I always wondered and now I know. Thank you so much. Love from India
Thank You for this video. I've been tempted for years to tint my headlights, but was always too afraid I wouldn't be able to see.
Best video on headlight tint. I am at this point to decide what to use and you have nailed it on the head.
Just came across this and I think the light smoke would be the best seeing as how it doesn’t diminish the light a whole lot but it also gives it the aggressive look during the day I appreciate your video and honestly subbin for this content
Excellent video! Been trying to decide if I want to tint my headlights and this has solidified my decision to tint them!! Thanks so much!
Didn’t even know you could do this until I was at a shop yesterday. Great video before I go get mines today thanks!
Sorry Christian, but you need to repeat this test with locked exposure on your camera. You can clearly see less light is being reflected back onto the cars in the head-on shots, but the light-wall shots look identical because the camera is adjusting itself.
Thanks for this vid! Just got my headlights tinted with light smoke and the tail lights with dark smoke. So cool! 💯✨

Great video, I was on the fence about light tint and you've convinced me. P.s. your cars paint is friggan dope!
Christian as always another great video and an awesome comparison
Video was very informative. I learned something new. I think the light output would have a clearer example if the light was shown on a road at night. That way we could see how far out it projects.
Thank you for making this video. Saved me so much time and effort.
Great job with this video. Straight to the point and no bs.

So many photography experts here which have a point. But still very informative. I noticeable difference that I did notice however is the tint does dramatically reduce glare.
Great comparison and testing!

Awesome presentation, you nailed it brother.
Dude best comparison video ever...thanks
Thanks for the video. This was the exact info I was looking for.
Thank you so much, super helpful! Surprised how little of a difference the dark tint made.
Thank you, Sir. I consider this a great video, under the circumstances. You have shown that there is relatively little light difference that resulted from the tints... at the source! There is sure to be incremental lost of intensity, the further the light must travel. However, that could be the subject of another video.
Great informative video. Thank you.
Awesome video man 👍🏻
It's definitely appreciated that you tried to make a comparison. But the only way to really test is to set the car back a little further and test the hotspot with a Lux meter.

Wow. So when looking at the car in the dark you can def see difference in the lights. You can also see that the light reflecting off the wall illuminates the car less and less as tinted darker but the three shots of the white wall look identical. The light also does look nice and white and not brown or yellow. Cool vid. Thanks. Answered my questions.

how's your light output holding up?
Dope video! Light Smoke tints already came in and I plan to put them on a 3rd gen CRV factory lights. The headlight case is pretty old and foggy so I polished them up good to remove the haze and plan on putting the light smoke tints on for style + UV protection.
Awesome video glad somebody did what you just did because I put the light smoke on my car and it looks good and I have daytime running lights when they’re on you can’t really see that it has any tint on it so I am going to go with the dark to see if that looks better. I’m sure it will. I don’t drive the car much at night and I definitely don’t drive it in the rain. I’m strictly going for the look. Thank you very much for doing this video.
Love this video. Super succinct and informative.. Thank you

Thank you. Glad you made the video. It helped me make my decision. I was worried that the Dark Smoke might be too dark. It doesn't seem so in the vid.
Thank you so much for this video! Very helpful!!!
Thanks man, great video, definitely will use dark tint Greetings from Poland
Great video. I like the lighter smoke tint best. I would have gone and bought the dark smoke without knowing. thanks for the info

What a legend thanks man really appreciated
I wrapped our 2021 Mazda 3 headlights with dark smoke and it's a drastic difference in light output. Dark smoke is too dark to safely drive at night. It looks awesome, but safety has to be first.
Thanks for this video bro
Awesome! Thanks man
Very good . Thanks for the video . Now I know which one light dark
Great video.. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the video man
Nice, now i know what 2 choose
So many of you out there seem to think you need the brightest lights possible out at night, thinking the brightest led lights are safe and cool but all you’re doing is blinding the rest of us on the road! This VVIVID LIGHT SMOKE TINT IS NOT UNSAFE, I have it installed it on my Dodge Avenger headlights and DARK SMOKE on the tail lights and yes you loose a little light but not an unsafe amount and not enough to draw police attention, it’s an amazing product and fairly easy to use (tail lights have 2 round bubbles which is tricky but learn by mistakes I say) but I also don’t blind oncoming traffic like the led spotlights people are replacing theirs with or the ones the manufacturers are using these days, and my car looks way way cooler! So those saying they instantly removed it, grow a pair and stop blinding everyone else around you, even county driving is not unsafe as I do it often, and to those still using VVIVID PRODUCTS...........KEEP ON WRAPPIN!
Great review and demo of various tints.Looks great my friend. I’m from the UK and my Mercedes AMG A45 has the same tints light smoke on the fronts and slightly darker smoke on the rears looks great. Great work on your site.

I have these on my tail lights right now and light output seems to be just fine. I was actually surprised as to how well light is transmitted through the lens and tint. Im sure for head lights it would be just fine. Best way is to buy some slap it on the car and find out for your selves.

Ahh Here Is The Video I Was Lookin For 👍
What I got from the video is that maybe it won't blind oncoming traffic with the light smoked. But the lights still work properly enough to see as a driver. I'll try the light smoke. Thanks for the video
Thanks Chris. All the way from Nairobi Kenya
Excellent video!!! 👍
if you use a light meter that will tell you the difference in light output

Hell yeah huge difference. Took my shit off. Going to try yellow. Kind of just like it to protect my headlamp since the lamps expensive and films cheap to redo later of it get messed up where as a headlamp isn’t cheap to replace or get repaired.
