Actually it's not or at least it wasn't taught that way to me, for me it was palms first with your lower back and upper hips hitting the ground first, where as Sett drops onto his tail bone in a way that would a)hurt like hell b)probably break his tail bone if done often and towards hard surfaces.

It just looks almost like a shrimp squat, which is basically a one legged squat. That he does it so casually just seems like an interesting way of expressing his athletic prowess.

The Ultimate CC Immune animation is for when he ults an enemy that's immune to CC (like Olaf when using "Ragnarok"). In that case, he attempts to pick up an enemy, but fails, so he ends up nobody to throw, hence he just ends up doing the elbow drop instead. Notice how he's basically just free falling without holding unto anyone or anything.

I'm sad you never talked about his fingers in both his recall and base animations. Those're the only moments where Sett doesn't have the brass knuckle on his right hand for his passive, and in both instances you see him stretch and wiggle his fingers to relax them. At base you can see him wiggle his fingers as he's putting the knuckle on, as if to do some final preparation to make sure it's on correctly so he's at his best when it's time to thrown down. I am however glad you talked about his little joke animation because it's by far my favorite little character moment and really shows a great contrast to his tough-guy exterior.

7:50 Sett weak point is his mother, his whole world rotate on making her proud and happy, and if somthing was to happen to her, that would easly break him, but nowhere in the story is it mentioned if he has guard protecting her of if peoples in the industry know about her, assuming words do travel that inform them of that, there is bound to be someone that want revenge against Sett and is willing to harm her to get to him. And from this point on, we know that Noxus will invade Ionia prety soon now, maybe it is them that will harm her, making him hate them to a point of no return, turning him into a war general, or even befor that if she is harmed by a pitfighter he will go from a carefree manager to a bloodthursty killer, stop the pits and go around killing noxian (that asuming it was a noxian that killed his mom) and from that atracting the attension of peoples like Zed, Irelia and Swain for example

Noxus under swain would not harm sett mother. They have no need to. They don’t slaughter unnecessarily as long as you work with/under them they will leave you alone and sett won’t mess with noxus as long as they leave him to his job

Noxus in general has different warlords that do different things. In Legends of Runeterra, Darius curses the Marauder, telling him "We don't target the weak you cur." A lot of Noxian generals make it a point to not attack the people who do not fight back or those that are too injured to fight fairly. Then you have characters like Singed who perform war crimes to get what they want

Zenith Tempest singed isn’t a noxian general. He is a zaun researcher that was asked to create bio weapons by darkwill. Your right though that under swain Darius and the other general would not fight against those who don’t take up their weapon against noxus

His story could go in a few directions, some of which you mentioned: - someone else tries to take control of his pit - his mother gets kidnapped/killed - his mother learns what he actually does / she alsways knew what he was doing - his father comes back, and then reveals his true intentions (he needed money to give them all good lives; he is an asshole and just wanted more money) - he finds his father in the pit and beats him into a pulp OR he gets beaten into a pulp - he finds out that his father died the day he vanished instead of leaving (false infos given out) - his mother abandons him, since she feels lied to (unlikely) - sett tries to take control of even more fighting pits (unlikely) ; then he would clash with draven - irelia or someone else approaches him because his pit fighters are valuable warriors that could help make noxus retreat for good - some force (rebel forces or someone like that) REALLY hates what sett is doing = want to destroy all of it - since he s a noxian and a vastaya and a human he might try and reunite these races so they stop hating each other (would need a huge set(t)-up to actually make sense; like mothers dying wish or that he realizes that wealth and his power alone will not protect him enough) - he seems pretty lonely (only has his mother) so maybe he finds a good friend (and then that friend betrays him/gets killed or they form an insane plan ...) some of those things could work some of them probably won't i have the feeling that Sett, while trying to find his dad and beat him up, finds out that his father died either the day he "left/vanished" or died in the other fighting pit and he went there because he was trying to get more money for his family. So now Sett would be completely destroyed and sad ... and then something something ... happens ... or his father just completely beats him up AND THEN THE TRAINING ARK ENSUES ... so much text lol

I like the idea with Irelia. That could easily lead into the 2nd invasion of Ionia if the pit fighters use their knowledge of the Ionian occupation combined with their force and that of the various resistance forces to start fighting back. That could also fix the place in the world that I personally feel he lacks compared to other champs.

The more I looked at this the more I think of one guy: Jin Kazama, from Tekken series. So what if he heard of his father from the pit fighters that he was about to perform, but he gotta take over the pit and make him fight Sett, to which he won but he saw his father already settled with a new family and he couldn’t bear to tell his momma

I think if they gave Sett a tail as well as a few scars on his chest, like in his literal splash art, that they would have 100% nailed the concept. I don't personally agree with making him look very animalistic since he is half human, but I do get why you have a gripe with the entire species not just him. I also think that his posture is perfect when you take into consideration what you said early in the video. His posture shows a lot of confidence and is a way to display just how "powerful" he is.

Apparently, at least with Xayah and Rakan, their feather cloaks are actually their wings disguised with Vastayan magic, so they can blend with humans. So maybe their form in the game is not even their completly vastayan form and they’re actually more animal like. (I’m just waiting for a movie/series of Ionia)

I can agree that he's a bit weak with his animal parts though there is detailing there that gave it props for me, when the animation for his mother came around, it was pointed out that his mouth is animated as well, and if you look closely he doesn't only have the little ears but the sharp teeth as well, it's a nice touch. very simple but it made me enjoy his character all that much more

oh my God, your insertions about Sett being level-headed are way to funny. lol. Also: Adding the concept art and other visuals is a great idea. honstly I get distracted during 20+ minute videos that only show one image and click off.

I seriously thought in the early part of the lore reading that he was going to end up in a match against his father. I think a reunion is inevitable. Unless "gone missing" is really supposed to mean dead after a fight in a far away land. In that case the next arc for Sett could be a high stakes revenge match against the person that his father couldn't defeat.

They could have designed him with Trimmed claws to be more vastayan: he would need to constantly repress this part of his heritage to be able to close his hands => throw punches

There could be a sequel to Sett's story, where, A: Noxia invades, again B: Sett's mom gets kidnap by (insert possible champions to do so) C: Any of the Noxian champions fight him Or D: His father returns

The only thing that removes the seriousness of Sett's situation was the fact that he manage to lie to his mother

My guess for a progression of His story would be him being pressured into picking a side in the Noxus vs Ionia conflict, him being a child of both worlds and also thurowly apolitical and all that

A story about him tracking his dad down and getting absolutely thrashed by his dad would be interesting. This could also lead to stories about him needing to keep his throne from people who’ve seen him loose.

I would like to see them explore more of Ionia dark underbelly such as the cabal that released Jhin though Sett, perhaps they pressure him to provide money to supply Jhin with the special materials needed for ammunition/traps

this was all-around excellent, Skyen! I love extra effort you put into making the video feel structured and cohesive, and I hope you'll keep it up in future videos in this series!

I'd really love to see you examine Taliyah animations! She's a case of a earthbender not being burly and set on the ground. Instead she is floaty and dancer-y

I think it would be very, very interesting to see Sett meet with Tahm Kench, to go along with your idea that Sett who needs to interact with other champions to further his arc story-wise. Character-wise I think this is a perfect match because Sett himself is characterized by being “the boss” being on top, full of himself, a tad narcissistic maybe, arrogant, selfish (him and his mom over anyone else), and greedy even. These are the exact characteristics that Tahm Kench preys upon, especially the sin of Greed. It would be very easy for a character like Sett who would never fall before the fist or sword of anyone else to kneel before the silver tongue of Tahm Kench, and make a bad deal with him for himself, or for the sake of his mother. From an aesthetic standpoint these two characters also are quite literally polar opposites. Sett is this handsome young guy looking to prove himself, rippling with muscle, and Tahm Kench is this large, hulking, “ugly” (but no less charming), presence who is far older than many of the other characters in league, who has a big mouth (literally) as opposed to fists Just a really interesting parallel I thought of that could be interesting for riot to explore. Connecting new characters to non-meta / less popular ones would be a great way to provide attention to those characters. Rather than just making the popular characters even more popular (which is honestly quite boring).

To me it makes sense that his idle animation looks up like that cause he is used to the pit fights and it makes it look like he's focused on the people watching the fight Cuz on his other idle animation he has a little "guard" and looks directly in front of him

LOVE the new format. The censoring of the bleeps reminds me of your walk through. Riot did do a recent dev video saying Sett is going to be character where they look into the Ionia underground crime.

I will say that I am find with sett being static since he's clearly not a main character. He actually reminds me of an ogre from Warhammer fantasy with his whole just as likely to help you as he is to hurt you.

Oh boy, did that opening age like a fine wine. 🤣

I remember hearing somewhere that human characters tend to sell more on skins than non human characters :/ Sett with claws or whiskers would have been great or at least let him purr or something LOL

I think that making him look “pristine” or untouched makes sense because he IS the best. Nobody that wants to fight him is better than him. Even his best fighter can barely stand a chance, and I think that making him look very healthy really represents him.

That's fair but the best doesn't mean being untouchable. I think a good middle ground could be that while not having too many, his scars are in places easily hidden so he doesn't alert his mom to his activities or maybe he uses make up like concealer to hide them.

Can't believe they took the spirit blossom path for Sett... I guess he's story is ongoing through the spirit realms.

To me Sett is a fantastic throwback to a simpler time in league. Champions didn't have 17 passives, 15 different types of damage immunity, dashes, invisibility and invincibility. He punches, he smashes people into each other and he comes down from the top ropes to ruin your day. I much prefer champions like Sett to champions like Aphelios. Aphelios is cool and all, but honestly you just mash WQWQWQWQW and you don't actually have to think about what's happening the champ plays itself. They made aphelios so complicated the execution had to be completely braindead or he'd sit at 10% winrate.

5:40: ...I kinda want that to be a LoL champion now. Maybe an ex-rival/foil to Sett. Instead of looking at his life at the bottom of the heap and deciding to punch his way to the top, they look at that life and decide to make something out of it that destroys the heap entirely.

The way he sits into the pushup position is actually how they teach you to practice falling or controlling your fall in Jiu Jitsu. So, it's an incredible detail for that, too! Given that Sett's a fighter and all!

I just find Sett incredibly frickin' hot. Exactly as you mentioned, I'd be far less salty if more developers (not just Riot) started to make their male characters eye candy just like their female characters. Being a queer man myself, it always irks me in the way that I can't help but realise devs whose products I enjoy always have the "I'm not their target audience with any of this" stigma stuck to them. Characters like Sett make me feel like I'm more... wanted? Does that make sense? Does that sound sad? Probably both. The more that attractive male characters are added to gaming the more I begin to feel that the "straight white male" target audience isn't the make-it-or-break-it goal anymore, and it makes me happy.

It doesn’t sound sad and it totally makes sense, it’s a “Hey! I buy your shit too!” sort of thing. I’m a straight woman and a feminist who could talk hours about comic books and video games I love. But groans at how disproportionate the sexualization is between male characters and female characters in those industries. And I’m happy too to see how both industries are beginning to acknowledge people who aren’t just into women. I validate you man, things in that regard are changing for the best.

Sett can be a good reason to make a new Bilgewater champion, being someone that knows were his father is, and for a Noxian champion who could be a friend of his father. Sett can even have some relationship with Swain, wanting to know more about the whereabouts of his father.

Sett is fun and I love the animation on him. Glad I do well with him. I need more male eye-candy in my list of champion pool :) Like I can play Darius, which I guess I consider him handsome (mostly in his comic), but hmm....its not like he's puffing his chest out like Sett :P Except maybe in God-King, he kinda has some sexy posing in there lol.

I really hope that the next "What's the deal with" could be about Xerath. He is my favorite champ and I feel like his lore has some nice elements. I guess during this time you haven't discovered Vastayashai’rei, they're the OG vastaya an actual Anthropomorphic species. Vastaya are the results of the union between a human and a vastayashai’rei. Sett having a vastayan mother which technically make her half human as well and his dad a pure human would give him more human features since her mother is half human and he has a pure human dad.

The vastayashai'rei are like the primordial ancestors of the vastaya. They are to vastaya as, like, neanderthals are to humans. Vastaya themselves are not half human, they are fully vastaya. A child of a human and vastaya is half human, half vastaya.
