One thing about the Tony Hawk games I will give massive credit for is the soundtracks were way more refined and thought out than they needed to be, especially as the games went on. They could've just been filled with really bad early 2000s poppy skate punk but they avoided that for the most part.

It's all good punk stuff. And later on, when band's like that did land on the soundtrack, they made those bands do covers of classic, proper punk bands. I'm no fan of My Chemical Romance, but they did a Misfits cover for American wasteland.

Generally a non-skateboarding video on a skateboarding channel is a very bad sign. Take Sam Tabor for example. He had a solid skate channel, and now he puts some utter rubbish for 5 y.o. kids. Personally I'm not into games at all (even skateboarding simulators), so I don't really want them to pop up in my subscriptions feed. My favorite videos by RadRat were Tricks History, Retro Rippers, and Skate Physics. Those are a high-quality content that I personally enjoy. As for games, sorry, I don't care about them at all, and it would be very disappointing to me to see some Minecraft-type bs on this channel.

My music taste wasn't influenced by skate music - my music taste was always so good (subjective) that I always automatically liked the skate music. Especially the soundtracks from THPS2, 3 and 4. The first two pieces (2 and 3) describe my music taste perfectly - catchy guitar tunes with clean or unclean vocals + some hip hop elements. It's quite interesting that I didn't know what genre I liked myself when I first played THPS2, because that was the time when I started to listen to music. But I liked every song in that game immediately and I like all of them with no exception till now (over the years there's also a little bit of nostalgy). The THPS soundtracks were literally made for me. On THPS4 I like the more "skate punk" kind of approach, Sex Pistols etc are all classics. When Rad Rat started to talk about the two perfect albums at the end of the video, I immediately thought of Hybrid Theory 😂 Disagree with the Cure For the Itch though, that is a classic, especially when you play it with High Voltage (HT remix) afterwards, it blends so perfectly. 50 Cent's first (official) album was a surprise. I like Fifty but I would not consider his albums as "all songs perfect album". As next I would probably say Meteora (another LP album), Avril Lavigne's Let Go, Green Day's American Idiot, Nirvana's Nevermind, Snoop Dogg's Doggystyle, 2Pac's Me Against the World ... just to name a few. I would be actually interested in Rad Rat's Spotify playlist, since I really like music. Serious Question! (related to skate games and music) There used to be a website to promote THUG2 / THUG2 Remix game. There was a built-in playlist on that website (very rare thing to see nowadays, very "2000"). I always thought that the songs were from the game so I didn't bother to save the playlist. Some years later I realized I was wrong (the soundtrack for THUG2 is completely different) and the website was already taken down. There were around 12 to 15 songs and there were all bangers. Lot of screaming stuff, which is not for everyone but I like it. It was so raw. Over the years I have managed to find some of the songs (some hardcore recalling of the beloved melodies and lyrics - it's crazy, I can't actually believe that I have found some 😂). If anyone knows more about this playlist or really anything, I would truly appreciate your help. This is the only place where I could gather some additional info, otherwise I'm stuck. Rad Rat is a skateboarding encyclopedia, some viewers might also know something. This is what I got so far: 1) Alkaline Trio - This Could Be Love 2) Emanuel - You Cannot Rape the Willing 3) From Autumn To Ashes - The After Dinner Payback 4) From Autumn To Ashes - Lilacs and Lolita 5) Down To Earth Approach - Triple Black 6) Moneen - Are We Really Happy With Who We Are Right Now 7) Moneen - Start Angry... End Mad 8) Hot Rod Circuit - The Pharmacist 9) Hot Rod Circuit - Inhabit 10) Underoath - It's Dangerous Business Walking Out Your Front Door *The order was different (but it started with Alkaline Trio as an opener). Sorry for the long post.

I come from Europe plus these songs come from an early 2000 era and I didn't start listening to music until 2004/2005. If it wasn't for that tracklist I wouldn't find these amazing less-known bands (Especially FATA, Emanuel, Moneen, Down To Earth Approach - who knows them?) Underoath is more popular but still. Hey Rad Rat! If you like "Get Rich Or Die Trying" then you should check out 50 Cent's earlier album, if you haven't heard it already. He recorded a debut album back in 1999/2000, but it was never officially released because he was dropped from his label after he got shot. Apparently he had too many powerful enemies on the street so he was blackballed from the music industry and nobody would touch him, he ended up going to Canada and releasing mixtapes independently, and built up so much buzz that he ended up getting signed by Eminem and Dre. Pretty fascinating story tbh. Anyway, his first album is called Power Of The Dollar and it's really damn good, you can find it on youtube or download it somewhere.

did a quick look into The Airborne Toxic Event cus' I was curious which song you may have recognized. could be wrong, but I think they played Goodbye Horses since it seems to be a staple at their live shows. the funny thing, it's a cover! the original song Goodbye Horses was recorded by Q Lazarrus. She had a short career with that song being the only one to find mainstream success, but years after it was released due to its use in the movie Silence of The Lambs. when a journalist was curious on her whereabouts, they found out she drives a bus as a day job now. what also makes me think its that song is you mentioned Marc Johnson and Skate, which also had the song featured. Skate 3 had the song as an ode to Marc's part in Fully Flared

Another reason skaters like using older cameras is because they're not only cheaper, but the grainier look does a better job at capturing the essence of skating street. The super polished look of high end camera gear doesn't look right (see Nyjah's part that Ty Evans filmed) and is also a much bigger loss if it gets smacked by a skateboard.

don't knock your music taste! I think of how musician Charli XCX in a recent interview was asked how she felt about her recent critical acclaim, expecially with her newest album being hailed as a landmark project. the key thing is she didn't feel the acclaim had much weight in how she perceives music. she believes music is an art form, but every art form should be judged on emotion rather than technical proficiency. musicians such as Lou Reed, Bob Dylan, and Yung Lean are acclaimed as influential and ground breaking BUT they aren't good singers. heck, some would say they suck as musicians. but they are beloved because despite their lack in musical proficiency, their music strikes a cord with listeners in unique and personal ways. Charli makes pop music, but that doesn't mean it can't be held to the same high regards as an Abbey Road. rap music has had such an uphill battle since people by default assume that if it's not lyrical it's not good. but many music critics would agree those songs and albums are equally as well crafted, albeit in a different perspective
