I've always found that workshop and living spaces will tell you where things should go, if you start to use them. My Sprinter is low top swb, so it's really important to get it right. I went out in it with a single mattress and stove a few nights to get a feel. I've gone for a pull out sofa bed (double) behind the drivers side down the off side wall. I've beennout a few times and I've redesigned the position of things a few times, prior to fitting. Importantly the wood stove, you only want to cut one hole in the roof, lol.

Another great vid once again Mel. Treat your work top first before using an exterior all weather silicone to set your bowl in. Will expand & extract with all types of weather & temperature. Use a varnish instead of oil inside your cut area. Any type glue or silicone wont take to oil. Well done once again. Always interesting to see how another person does their conversions.

Awww love the cat ...don’t be using a plastic tank unless it’s tested to a certain PSI or Bar ... otherwise it could blow up...compressed air can be very dangerous... the fire extinguisher you have has been proofed to its safe working pressure..(SWP) maybe you could use more extinguishers... and use copper piping to withstand higher pressure, and use a calibrated pressure gauges and inflater to keep within your SWP ....

I managed to get an offcut from BQ from a damaged kitchen worktop for £4. Cut it down to the size I needed, and an old kitchen unit and doors from my brother as he was building his new kitchen, again cut them down to the size I need and recovered them. and I splashed out on a sink and double burner with the money saved.

Hi Mel, I also have the dog bowl sink in my van and I used the same mastic that I used on the solar panel. Using a pressurized air system for your water is a good idea just remember to seal everything so no air leaks and make sure your water pickup pipe goes from the top of your tank to about a quarter inch from the bottom. Air pushing down on the water pushes water up pipe, simples. Looking forward to seeing the log burner when it arrives. Have fun and look forward to the next video.

Bog standard bathroom sealant is great for sticking all sorts of stuff together, including shiney surfaces. If you treat the wood first you'll be able to make a nice neat finish on the silicone bead. It will be stuck in there firmly but not so firmly that you wont be able to remove it without damage with enough determination if you really want to.

I’d be tempted to put laminate floor onto the ply just for the strength. I would also paint round where you have cut the hole for the sink. It will seal it and stop the ply from blowing if any water does creep under the edge of the sink.

  • @marks-0-0

I've got the same kitchen unit and position in my van. For simplicity I didn't use studs I simply fixed panels of ply together with a 40mm worktop directly on top. My space is limited so I've built the unit slim and gone for an open design with 1 draw. With the OSB ply having a clear finish and black edge T trim I think it looks sweet. Consider an open design Mel 😉

Hi Mel - Just a thought with your kitchen unit over the door if you put a hinged back on it you can load your gas bottles and water through the sliding door of the van and get the water in and out through the door into the back of the unit I hope this makes sense - also I would round the edges at the end because you will keep knocking yourself as you get in and out of the side door - sorry for the lateness of this post but I have just subscribed to your channel and found this video - Happy New Year Best wishes Clay

Hi Mel. Love the off the wall thinking mate but your pressurised water system has its drawbacks - to hold a decent pressure (enough to drive a reasonable amount of fluid at a rate greater than gravity would ) your container needs to be both rigid and strong. THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID If you used a vessel like the extinguisher then cleaning and inspection become very tough. They're also heavy. The pressure needed creates a burst risk.....think flooding and/or trip to casualty. For stealth you could have a modest sized holding tank placed inside a top locker then use a marine hand pump or even electric to top it up just before heading to your roost for the night. So no driving any distance with unnecessary water weight at height. For better flow under gravity feed simply use a larger bore copper pipe such as 22mm or even larger. Obviously you can't use 22mm with that nice tap you have but there are rustic alternatives in 22mm. B n q are great for refunds : ) I do like your tap choice......enables you to fit an outside hose easily if you wanted to. As ever with vans there's a lot of choices to be made...the good news is you only have to please you. Really admire the way you get on with your projects mate. I could do with some of that pace in my own build. Happy travels. John

Clear silicone will stick the sink down, without White or brown pigment it's 50% stronger. Do your varnishing First though. A small slim 2 liter brass, copper or whatever water tank above the tap and a small pump ( hand or foot pump ) to fill it through some nice copper pipe connected to the tank and fitted nicely. A nice brass or copper or even stainless kettle works well as the water tap feed tank but I'm sure you get the idea. An overflow near the top with an outlet pipe going back to the main tank where the water came from in case you over pump. All you do is pump water with foot or electric pump until the 2 liter tank is filled, then you have two litres of stealthy water on tap when you need it with moderate flow, no noise 🤣 Do it whatever way you like Mel, there's no pressure! Oh' there could be! 🤣🙂🙃🤣👍

No noisy water pump. Just a noisy air pressure pump😂. There are two problems I foresee. A large part of storage vessel will be filled with air and reduce actual water capacity. Being able to find a container capable of holding a high enough pressure to make it viable without regular and noisier pressurising or a manual air pump

Hi Mel. The compressed air water tank system is fine at first, but given that you're pressurising only a small part of the tank you'll find that the pressure drops very quickly, and water flow will reduce. Then you'll need to re-pressurise. That's also fine, but at the end of the day, what is the advantage of an electric air compressor over an electric water pump? Indeed, you might well find that when the water level is low and there's far more air to pressurise, that it will take even longer. Regards Mark in the UK

I've tried making a pressurised drinking water supply using a 12v tyre pump and it tainted the water with an oily aroma and taste. Somesort of diaphram pump would probably avoid that problem, like an aquarium pump, although i've no idea if it would deliver enough pressure.

The idea of a removeable kitchen unit is brill - that way you can fit a motorsickle when the need arises (although the fixed tap might be a bother) Nine lnch Nails to hold the sink in place... (real nails; not the band) Wood burner? Slit a potato, wrap it in foil, and toss it inside: Hey Presto! Krispy Baked Tater! Mother Nature has shown us that the best system for water supply is gravity, so of course a 300 gallon deposit on the roof would be ideal. Just be careful cornering... 😁

Could of used Glastonbury burners would have saved you the import tax etc they do a wood burner meant for vans 👍. Only trouble having your sink near your bed is you run the risk of having a soggy bed 🥴. Van layouts are a nightmare I have seen a few guys put the log burners where the door is with a bulkhead behind the passenger seat. That would mean you could have a seat next to the bed and the kitchen the other side you could then put a tall larder next to the bed so there’s no way of spilling anything on it just a thought 🤷‍♂️

  • @barryneville4703

Air is compressible under pressure and will violently expand when the pressure is released rapidly. if a plastic water tank ruptures it will go bang. So please use a pressure vessel or that fire extinguisher to be safe. 😊 Clever alternative way of solving a problem but can’t help thinking your swapping out a 12v water pump for a 12v air compressor? Is that better? Not sure 🤔 Keep up the good work mate always interesting to watch and stay safe buddy. 👍🏼
