Always a pleasure to watch your videos. Thanks!🙏 The life cycle of the Virus range is amazing. When I got my first one in 1997 I would never have expected this.

I appreciate all the time you take to explain the topic of your videos. I love analog gear, but the nostalgia for analog overshadows discussions on what hardware we actually need.

@@willswitchcraft Sorry for the late reply. Your videos stuck with me for what to do when making music. I love house music, and TR-909 analog clones will go for 2k. I was super close to biting the bullet, but I thought about how I've never read or heard a single person say 'I would love this track if the drums were accurate to the 909'. I bought a TR-8 with emulation of the 606, 707, 808, and 909 for 300 dollars flat and it's a much more useful machine. We obsess over how slightly different all this expensive gear sounds when all that matters is if the song is good. Thanks for helping me realize that

Hey MJ.....so happy to read your comment. I actually have very little traffic for my videos, probably because I'm not on any other Social Media, so I'm really grateful when people see my vids, and of course appreciate them. Hey Will I love your reviews. The Snow is amazing. The Polar always looked good to me. Ahhh man it all makes me miss my TI keyboard. Beautiful second half too with the Snow’s delightful sound.

Thanks Jon.......yeah, I've always had serious G.A.S. for the Polar............maybe one day I'll be able to justify it....until then, this little Snow will have to suffice (of course, sonically, they're basically identical, but that big white beast is seriously glorious to behold.......)
Great to see. The recommended editor is a real gem. Works well with my Virus KB & Darkstar 👍. Currently I'm somehow addicted by the Waldorf Iridium Keyboard. But most the sounds I like for the Iridium can be created (with some time&effort) for the KB and/or for the Darkstar too. And to be honest, sound creation is fun 😉.

Yeah, I really like the display mod (did one on my other Virus as well - a real improvement)
Cool. Presumably you can also map the knobs and faders of your MIDI keyboard to control the other parameters as well... So you could actually end up almost having a Virus TI Polar for like half the price!
@willswitchcraft

Yes, although I have done that, I'm sure it's pretty easy to do that, so you could 'potentially' have loads of 'real time, hands on control', at a far more reasonable price......thanks for watching

Definitely, although the feel of the knobs on the Virus is hard to beat...
Hi Will..thx for introducing me to the snow..it's indeed some 1000,- cheaper than the Virus desktop and as you show is capable of the same sounds..only less. But..always but..I got myself a new desktop a while ago for the full price and I'm still exploring the thing..apart from that I also bought an Iridium keyboard..a Summit and a Behringer Deepmind witch is around the same price as the Snow. So I'm quite busy with the presets alone..so far the Iridium and the Summit tops my list. Then ofcourse the Virus and the Deepmind for which I bought Arturia Beatstep pro to play them all together.. Anyway..thx for the vid and keep up the good work..and have a fine day.

I love my Virus TI2 Polar keyboard such an amazing box! Looking for a desktop one at good price. I dream of a collaboration between Chris Kemper and Elektron to develop the next Virus synthesizer with an awesome Elektron sequencer and user interface! That would be a dream come true especially if it also have CV controls to interact with modular gear.

The virus HC plugin works flawlessly in Windows 10 and on my Mac with my TI2 desktop. In many ways it's even superior to what access music put out in the stock VST that no longer works on the Mac. The virus HC plug in from Aura allows MIDI mapping of literally almost every parameter the virus TI2 has. On each of the 16 midi channels individually. That feature, used with an external MIDI controller (I use the push 2 and a few novation launchpads) transforms the virus into an amazing live performance instrument. Especially for ambient. Being able to have every single parameter on 16 different MIDI channels available at your fingertips through MIDI is really great.
@willswitchcraft
Жыл бұрын
thanks for your comment. Agreed. I have a Launchpad as well, however, for my 'Ambient' sessions, I just restrict myself to one MIDI channel (and sound) at a time. I've had great a connection at Jani (@ Mystery Islands Music)...........that product has been a real life saver for many of us on the Virus vibe,....and I sent him a link to the video

I love your videos! I have both the Ti2 Desktop and the Snow. I'm putting together a rig for live performances and I like the Snow's smaller footprint. One question. Do you think it is reasonable to expect the Snow to be able to play all four channels simultaneously? I'm curious because I ran into issues with the Ti2 desktop after sequencing about six channels at the same time.

Hi! Forgive me for asking this but I only got the TI Virus Snow for 3 days. So far loving it but I can’t seem to find in the machine where to set the global master tempo. It’s not in the Config menu. In the Common Menu I can set the tempo of the individual patch. I’m looking for the global one so I don’t have to change and set every time I switch arp patches. Tap tempo doesn’t help either. Appreciate your help…thank you!
@willswitchcraft
Жыл бұрын
congrats on your Snow..................from my previous experience on the Snow and Ti Desktop V1, I've always seen the tempo as a 'programmed per patch' parameter. I suspect that, if there is a simple way to over ride that, it would be in the Global parameter section, but as I haven't looked for it, I'd suggest that you check on the Virus Users Forum - I expect that someone there will be of assistance................
ngl I though when I bought Virus Snow I was gonna miss the luxury of having all of those knobs for tweaking sound design, but it turns out to be I wasnt really that much missing, the way you access those parameters was pretty much straight forward, so after all it was good enough for budget artist out there to have a virus

Hey Hey, Hoping you can help me on pullling the trigger - love the Virus sound and particulary want to make use of the Trance arps for ambient and synthwave music, but wanted to know how easy it was to program the ARP vs the desktop version? Also, how much tweakability do you feel you've lost when performing live ie. parameter changing during recording. I have a Rev 2 desktop and its great for bread and butter sounds, but despite all the buttons I don't tweak much when recording or performing - so just want to make sure i don't regret getting a Snow
@willswitchcraft

The Snow is a great alternative on a budget, or with limited space, but it's quite limited for live 'Tweaking'. You can assign any parameter you want to the 3 'Soft Knobs', but that may not be enough for what you need live......the arpeggiator has to be programmed from software, so that might be a hurdle for you....

Opph arp programming via software is a killer, especially when it doesn't work with the new macs. Might opt for the polar in that case@@willswitchcraft thanks dude, appreciated

Sorry, when I commented, I hadn't realized which video this related to........I just use MIDI (5 pin din) between the two. The Novation is really a limited old piece of gear (picked it up almost free online), specially because the Auto Map software is too old to work with the newer OS........When I use it will my really old laptop (which I keep around for using the Virus Control software), using Logic, it still has quite a bit of functionality........Love the little Snow - so much power in such a small zone, which was important, because my main ambient set up has a very small workspace: kzread.info/dash/bejne/oY5hj6qtkby_mqw.html
