Pikmin is such a unique gem of a franchise. With pikmin 4 just around the corner, I can’t wait! Also Great video! Your criminally understated and deserve way more eyes on your stuff. 👀

Great video, but I have to disagree about the lack of replay ability. The Pikmin games are the only games I even somewhat got into speedrunning. And there's also the challenges of trying to keep as many Pikmin alive as possible. It took me a while, but I eventually completed the game with no Pikmin deaths at all.

I see a lot of people defending this game's harsher mechanics, particularly the 30 day limit. I was actually surprised to learn that a lot of people stayed away from Pikmin or only ever got the bad ending because of this limitation, which is probably why Nintendo eased up on it in later entries, but I still see Pikmin fans staunchly defending this mechanic and expressing disappointment with its removal and felt the food/drink-per-day mechanic in Pikmin 3 was a half-measure. I guess what this speaks to is that the first Pikmin was really rough around the edges, and didn't exactly cater to a casual gaming audience, which is kind of ironic given how conscientious Nintendo is of said audience nowadays. It's still a classic, though, and I like the multiple endings the game has; the bad ending felt even darker when you take Olimar's nightly journal entries into account, those really help characterize him and sympathize yourself to his struggles to the point where you want to see him succeed. Beneath all the colorful wildlife, the first Pikmin is a surprisingly dark game, and I think that's part of it's appeal with some fans.
