Nobody I've jammed this with ever plays the guitar part properly. I've got the bass part down, and now I can send my friends to check this out for open mic. Or I can play guitar and sing it one day if I find somebody else who can do the bass. Love the tele. Well done!

I learned this song the old fashioned way, 1987 with a recording on tape, an acoustic guitar and a piano player in the dorms of Cambridge U. I've always played the descending part D then D7 where you used a C instead of the D7. I've never checked what TABs say about this but it's fused in my mind as D7.

i think the one chord in the chorus is a G/F bass note which makes sense if you follow the downward bass note pattern

kaboom! all the versions are nice, even the Pretty Reckless one has some merits. I just watched the Schwarz 1974 version- very cool. on the chorus they play a G7 after the D 3rd dom chord. Lowe plays G,D,G,F,E,C, on bass- Bruce Thomas plays G,F#, F,C on the Attractions version. the F chord played in the lesson is more enigmatic. cool option.
