I have noticed on a lot of newer reels that they get play in the bail arm rotor assembly which impedes line lay etc..

Nice reels the Aeros & the older reels were built to last . I still have my Mitchell 300A, although a little heavy, etc, by today's standards & and being relegated to my marker/spod & stalking rods which don't get out much.

From what I’m seeing it’s a pretty decent reel. I have some opinions .. 1. From what i know the foot of the reel needs to in such a way designed so will be a straight line from the shaft trough the first 3-4 guide on the rod( especially if you will have K guides like on the Matrix pro Distance rods. So isn’t really about your finger touching the spool.. 2. Will be nice to have also a bearing on the end of pinion but i guess 3 bearings will do the job. 3. About the gears materials- will see in time if will stay smooth .. So the Final and Most important Question- We can order Parts for this reel? Will be ready available?! Because this can turn any reel in a great reel! Maybe some 5-6000 sizes in the future for distance fishing…😅👍

As an engineer, this is very interesting, especially the choices of gear material, and seals used. Fascinating.

So with all the people involved to build the so called ultimate match reel no one came up with the idea to include an auto bail such as that on the Mitchell Match or even better the Daiwa 1657DM with it’s manual override 🤷‍♂️

That's a very specific area for a rreel, I mean you wouldn't use those reel's for ledgering only float work .

Love the look and sound of it. What about the Gear ratio and clutch? are you using carbon and Teflon washers? What's the weight of the reel? What is the line capacity I am on Diawa Tournemts at the moment but will buy one to try it.

Sorry for a negative comment but I don't like the T shape handles I prefer just a normal type that's why I have no choice to buy cadence reels . Not sure why everyone staring to change to T shape handles there a put off for me not sure how many others get put off by this ?

My experience of Cadence reels (admittedly not highest level) is not good. Yes the top models should function brilliantly, but the cheaper ones I got don't perform well in any way sorry to say. Have now replaced them with comparably price point Daiwa models, and it's already obvious to me that the Daiwa reels are miles better than the comparable Cadence models. The Cadence reels are pleasing on the eye, which lured me in originally, but if I was advising now, I'd say stick to Shimano and Daiwa. Having said that, the process with these MATRIX reels looks good, and they look promising, albeit I'd expect a hefty price point on them considering the materials they seem to be using?

No 2500 size ?? , I think your basically trying to take market share from the Daiwa TDR and Shimano Aero- very different as people myself included have been taught you want to buy a reel , it’s Daiwa or Shimano.. And people are creatures of habit. I don’t mean this in a negative way just think it’s going to be difficult to break that habit , but far as I’m concerned the more competition the better.

I don't know why they cost so much.theyfe all made the same. All your doing is paying for the name just like clothes paying for the label.. my reels cost less y£25 with line . and are better more robust than the expensive crap I've owned

200 quid. And aimed at match anglers ? Who might have 3 4 5 maybe even 6 rods set up. No thanks. Why is there no footage of the reel in use without music over it. I watch jon arthur hes a top angler but every reel he uses sounds horrible. I like my reels to be silent when reeling in. Do these whine like other matrix reels ??

I am a Matrix tackle tart, but i can't see why you had the horizon reels go from £100 to the new one's at £200, i do have four of the horizon reels and find them very good, but can't justify the £100 increase, thank you for showing us how you went about making the new one's, i will just have to save hard,
