Curious of the benefits here when you could just buy one can instead and have any other unit with utility in its place You could always level it sure, but for a higher cost than just, more cans. Plus if you’re looking to sell it it just sounds like wasted money. I guess the nuance of playing it correctly is a little easier to practice than to describe on paper. It seemed to work okay here

it's just not good enough. I think maybe as a tier 3 it would be OK. Compare it to the Turkey for example, which is only 1 tier higher (different pack I know). Turkey not only gives a permanent +3/+3 to units you buy, it also does it in battle to units summoned.

I think, looking from an outside perspective, if he kept buying canned food along with the lobster, that would’ve been the way to play him and keeping himself ahead of the curb from the get go

The lobster arc out of nowhere is great! But seeing NL keep a mosquito instead of selling it and buying a second leopard is smoothing my brain again.

yeah it's kinda silly playing for 6 wins instead of 10. You don't need to take nearly as many risks and can just ride out a mediocre build to cruise across the "finish" line.

@@lunarshining7964 Yeah you can just throw silly builds out and call them wins but it's just too easy I think. It's a more achievable goal when you're doing "more fun" builds like hedgehog but for me it's just not satisfying to make a mediocre team and ride it out as far as it can go. 10 wins isn't just forcing the meta either. If you do that you'll occasionally get a lucky 10-win but most runs will just be destroyed by the amount you're wasting on rerolls. The _real_ 10 win teams are the ones you made as a result of doing risky pivots and compromises, they'll usually end up with something meta in the end but getting to that meta team is the fun part. By allowing yourself to be satisfied with 6 wins you are not forcing yourself to take those same risks which makes things more boring.

think about it like this, the puppy is letting you spend 3 gold for a pear on itself, just that you maybe want a lot more than a pear at round 3 or 5, but if you get a level 2 or 2 puppies simultaneously scaling its not too bad. For example 16:30

NL's problem with the puppy is that he thinks he HAS to save 3 gold. He has to realize that the puppy is giving you the option of buying a pear whenever you want, but you don't HAVE to. Sometimes its better to buy a chocolate or an animal instead of the pear.

NL is gonna start running the Lobster bacta time to go all in on doubt

Selling the Dolphin instead of the Lobster on that first game may have won him the round because the dolphin would've sniped the turkey :'( I think it was a matter of cans being good as much/more than the lobster being good.

Puppy is just a unit that you can think of as having the option to buy a pear on it every turn. Not that great, but if you think pears are good on tier 3, than there you go.

@@benbilbro516 As well as getting them both pre turn 5, even double puppy on turn 5 is too late for them to be usable, and only having 1 on turn 3/4 is too little. It’s crazy how one gold difference made puppy from an auto take to the worst unit in the game.

Watching him roll past tier 1 animals when he has the dragon makes me want to put my fist through my screen.

At 21:22 NL has 6 gold with a melon, a pig and a leopard in his shop and a 1/2 turtle as his front unit. Why does he not sell the turtle, buy sell the pig and then just buy melon amour and the leopard to get a better unit and the melon

Puppy at level 1 is just like buying a pear that can only target your puppy every turn. But level 2 is like you have a cat on your team but only works for the one pear lol.

4:50 Did anyone else notice that after the dolphins took out the camel, and then the deer killed the ant, the line didnt collapse? The bus didn't do any splash damage on the kangaroo because there was an empty space behind the mosquito.

The dog getting 9 attack buffs in a row to become a 15-6 is so funny

I think the blue bird is bad because it requires you to put your best unit at the back. Their best unit kills your other units and trades with your best unit and you lose. Even without that issue, it has very diminishing returns, a 15/5 fish isn't that much better than a 10/5 fish in the mid game. One way to mitigate this might be to change who gets buffed from fight to fight, but haven't tried this strat yet to say if it's effective.

The lobster is basically a pear you pre-invest in. Think about it. You pivot with a lobster on the team and it slaps a pear on whatever you buy, but you can sell the lobster after for 1 gold! And it works more than once! Then you're wasting a slot on a lobster though. Only good for big pivots.

So spending 12 gold for +4 stats for a dog is feasible, But gaining 4 stats for 3 gold with a puppy is impossible? I feel like its alot more efficient and consistent and it confuses my why puppy doesnt work, but dog does.

With a Puppy you can't use the gold you have remaining to scale further. With the Dog you can use all your gold to scale your team. The Dog doesn't pop as fast, but if you can level it early, it will become a monster.

I’ve found that a food build and buying/selling build work well if you alternate buying food and pets. In both you need to roll for the right type of food or pet, so you freeze the type your not buying that turn while rolling for the other.

ngl out of everything this makes me give a serious thought to a Llama-Dog core and just making use of that empty slot I started off thinking there was basically nothing to this game but birds into poodle/t-rex/tropical fish scaling but i'm beginning to see the light on some interesting builds, i just got 7/10 from a dual Horse build with a bunch of crickets/spiders/sheep/roosters etc with varying levels of honey and late game a Shark and it was wild and fun to see VS just mashing the big numbers together and seeing whose Melon Armor was more Melon-y.

Lobster is just a can that takes up space on your team.

Lobster is a slightly better but way to situational version of the Turkey. If it added the buff when you buy a unit on top of another I think it would be good enough but really it is just a bigger "temporary" Can.
