The Mavs were HEAVILY out talented (5 all stars vs 2 and below avg role players) and besides 3 blowouts (2 Boston and 1 Dallas), the Mavs were very close. Like Luka took guys like DJJ and Exum to the FINALS 😂😂😂 This season was a MASSIVE W for the Mavs!!!

Great segment guys, I’m worried about our chances to get back within 3 years because of the stacked west, but I trust Nico to make the right moves to give us the best chance.

I trust two things going into next season: Nico making more good moves and the chemistry we displayed. OKC just got better with that trade, but I don't think anybody else in the West will get better over the summer. We will have time for this team to build even more chemistry.

They need to pick up 2 wings both who excel in 3-d . One with the potential to be a 3 level scorer and a additional floor spacing 4-5 who can defend or willing to

The guy on the right padded his brain with trash. Luka struggled offensively? On turnovers yes maybe. But otherwise, he was pretty ok to great depending on which game you are referring to.

Great year for my Mavs. Massive W and great experience for a young squad to take forward. Unfortunately Luka was banged up and our team was pretty gassed by the finals after playing playoff intensity basketball since March 7 while the Celtics were basically cruising to one of the easiest paths to a finals all time. Plus their team is overall better. Hard to overcome all that. Luka still the best player in the world and he’s gonna remind people next year what it looks like when he’s not on a bum knee and can actually hit his threes.

The Mavs just need to stop trying to drag ~$40M in dead weight to the playoffs. The Celtics successfully squeezed everything they can out of their players and cap. Even Hauser and Pritchard did good things. KP got hurt but effectively won them game 1 in the 1st quarter. Meanwhile, Dallas had THJ, Kleber, Powell, and mostly Josh Green not doing much of of anything. That's a lot of money not contributing, with 2 of them being DNP's for the most part.

@RobMoreno-mw5uq If Josh Green is going to remain on this team he has to do more than he did this year. 8/3/3 and running hard for 26m/game isn't going to cut it. That's Dwight Powell level stuff. He had good moments, but so did THJ.

I think PJ really needed experience and will have to do a lot of above the break 3pt shooting and slashing drills. I think overall he'll be fine. DJJ, I dont know if he will improve from 3, but I'd say Dallas should still try getting a 4 who can be a solid 3rd option. And get rid of Maxi, THJ, and whoever if it helps in doing so. DLive is their center for the future. He has a lot of experience now. He needs to add muscle and get more of an nba body, and i think he'll be an all defensive guy, but maybe only the year after, who knows. They definitely need better 3pt shooting. Add someone to be a solid sixth man and someone to handle the ball consistently outside the Luka and Ky (maybe Hardy can be that but I wouldnt want that to stop them looking). Then Doncic needs to get in great condition. Would help a lot with preventing injuries and staying in good shape for deep runs. This loss should humble him in many ways. I think his offball game could easily improve through coaching. A lot of give and gos and catch and shoots are easy to implement as long as they have guys who can handle the ball with him on the floor. Some stuff he did in spots throughout the playoffs but making an effort to make it part of the gameplan would go a long way in it becoming more of a reliable part of the offense.

All of these guys are spot on. I like their synergy, comraderie, POV's and interplay...but the Mavs need to trade for either Bogdan Bogdanovic or Dorian Finney Smith but in no way should the Mavs give up people like Hardy or Olivier Omax Prosper if possible. I agree with everything the big guy in the green on the left said. The Mavs had a great season but, to take the next step, they should add someone like: Péjå Stojákövic 6'10" Marcus Camby 6'11" Dennis Rodman 6'8" Steve Kerr 6'3" and Ben Wallace 6'9" And perhaps Maxi Kleber is their Péjå and Oliver Omax Prosper can be our Dennis Rodman but they need to replace the dead weight on the team that contributed so very little: THJ Morris Kleber A J. Lawson And, the young developmental guards. I totally trust the management of the Mavs to get the necessary pieces [2 more 3 points shooters, 2 more bigs and 3 great defensemen]. They can play 10 deep on everyone except the Celtics. Against them, only 9 can hold up: Luka Kyrie P.J. Brown The 2 centers Dante Green Hardy But, to contend with the elite A-N-D defeat Boston in a 7-game series...they must improve on the backend. Release and replace the other 6 players with big, physical tall, defensive minded players + a 6'11" Péjå Stojákövic type player that rebounds and can hit the trey + an unselfish pair like Rodman and Wallace that will do the dirty work...and another 3 point guy that will hit 50% from deep. With that they'll win 60+ games and beat Boston. Luka absolutely must learn to play without the ball in his hands. The "Triangle" offense could be an option. More emphasis must be placed on perimeter defense. Derek Lively needs to shoot the trey more; Dante Exum should be the leader of the 2nd unit, the QB and facilitator. Hardy needs to be our "microwave" [Vinnie Johnson] off the bench. They need 2 big, beefy "enforcers" willing to kick ass if needed to protect Kyrie and Luka when frustrated teams get physical with them. Generally speaking, for elite excellence, they need: 1.) toughness with an edge à la Rodman & Wallace. 2.) 50% excellence from the 3 à la Pèja and Kerr. 3.) Play up tempo, share the ball and rebound ferociously. 4.) Develop a 2nd unit led by Exum with Hardy scoring but with at least 2 great defenders. 5.) Find 2 guys for enforcers that put the fear of God in opposing players who even think about tripping Luka or "accidentally" hitting Kyrie in the face. 6.) Have a come to Jesus meeting with Luka: Get in shape/stay in shape No pouting/fighting refs Work on 3 pt & midrange Lead... To be clear...he wants to be Pistol Pete Maravich [score 40 ppg with 2 assists while teammates watch] but N-E-E-D-s to be Magic Johnson [working the refs, a coach on the floor, calling plays, making sure everybody else gets points and touches the ball...while purposely holding back unless we get down by 15 or down to 5 seconds on the time clock or it's the last 5 minutes of the game.] 7.) Study Magic, Isaiah and Stockton. Strive 2B the '96 Bulls, the '86 Celtics, the '76 Trailblazers or the '72 Knicks with a perfect blend of offense & defense...but the 2004 Pistons were the epitome of what we should try to become with 5 unselfish players led by 2 scorers, a bunch of role players and a savvy coach. Get it? Got it?? Good...

It was and he had amazing debut numbers. A 5 seed after a trade made it to the finals as an underdog in each series, and Luca's debut finals was 29.2pts 8.8rebs and 5.6assts. NBA fans like you are all or nothing with no nuance. If a player doesn't win, he's a complete failure. If anything, the Mavericks overachieved and lost to an all time great team.
