    They should work on whatever they themselves are most passionate about and love. It's the passion and love that has gone into BG3 that makes it so awesome. So the next project needs to be something they feel inspired to work on.

    I remember reading an article saying they want their next project to be smaller in scale. I think they put a lot of love in BG3, but from what I've seen it seems like they don't want to stay "The BG guys." It'd be nice, and probably the scale they appreciate, if they returned to that Divinity Tactical RPG they were working on, the one that looked like Fire Emblem with D:OS characters and Beast had a blunderbuss. BG3 forced them to put that on indefinite hiatus

    What I would like to see? A nine hells add on pack based after the events of the main game. If Karlach, Wyll, and the Githyanki can travel to the hells, and Zariel and Raphael were involved in the story, then a return to the hells to make your displeasure at hells interference, or even just to save Karlach, would be appreciated. The story of her engine and heart has yet to be addressed. And the fun loving Tiefling deserves more than to be dragged back down… unless it’s for a sequel.

Carry our character forward or maybe let us use a new one, adjust the Mindflayer options so its not so pushy we uh... can that thing we can do with that in Act 3, but get our more triumphant or poetic end, while having bigger doors open for what a BG4 could be. Act 4 in Hell(s) just sounds hot. Avernus can be added to the base game as a test - it wouldn't be just there for nothing, but an introduction to mechanics and concepts they'll put in the expansion.

    There's a ton they could do with expansions for BG3, but afterwards? I want to see Neverwinter Nights 3.

  • @nikidelvalle

    @nikidelvalle

    11 ай бұрын

    So here's a thought... Neverwinter Nights 3 already exists, it's called Solasta Crown of the Magister. The thing is, Neverwinter Nights was never really a game, it was a platform for people to create their own content. That role is now more than adequately filled by the amazing tools offered by Solasta's Dungeon Maker mode and the modding tools that have been released which expands its usability. Also, if Larian were to make Neverwinter Nights 3, what are the chances they'll end up making the same mistake Obsidian made on an even larger scale? What are the chances that instead of prioritizing a game that's easy for your average joe to make content for, they just use all the stuff they already made for Baldur's Gate 3? Neverwinter Nights 3 doesn't need some complex cutscene tool meant for mocapped footage and voice acting, super high-fidelity graphics, and a focus on open world zones. It needs to have tools that make it incredibly easy for average people to make modular, bespoke content leveraging the mechanical framework of D&D... which is exactly what Solasta does. It even carries on the legacy of Neverwinter Nights by having a really boring main campaign that comes across more as a template for other people to emulate than anything legitimately creative. I will say that Solasta's tools could still do more (and especially they could be backed by the actual license), but that's why we should encourage them to make a sequel with even more comprehensive tools.

  • @Iceisnice1

    @Iceisnice1

    11 ай бұрын

    You do have a point there, I'll admit. The thing that made Neverwinter Nights special was the Aurora toolset. The sheer amount of options and possibilities it enabled for content creation was - perhaps still is - unmatched. Having said that, I'm familiar with Solasta, but only played the official campaign (and I really liked the algorithm they had for character voices and personalities). Is Solasta's editor truly that good? It can equal or even surpass the Aurora toolset?

    @nikidelvalle

    11 ай бұрын

    @@Iceisnice1 I'm not sure if it's as good as aurora or not, I was too young to use those tools back in the day. What I can say is that what Solasta does is very impressive and in ways I can almost guarantee are better in some ways than they were back in the day. Solasta's mapping tool is amazing, the implementation of 5E's mechanics is extremely loyal, it has a fully featured system for dialogue and linking together modules to create campaigns, it has a huge catalogue of monsters to draw from complimented by even more added by modders who have done a wonderful job expanding the tool even further. I don't think the community has even fully explored the possibilities of the toolset yet, but as the games popularity grows over the course of TA's future projects I'm sure we're going to see them shine more and more. And I hope that the tool keeps being developed, as I said before hopefully in a sequel. Because IMO, if anyone's going to make Neverwinter Nights 3, it's Tactical Adventures. They've basically already gotten a huge head start on it.

  • @jarrodbright5231

    @jarrodbright5231

    11 ай бұрын

    @@nikidelvalle The existence of Solasta does not in any way interfere with the option of Larian making a "Neverwinter Nights 3" game. Make Your Own Game platforms and toolsets aren't really Larian's thing but they could certainly make a game similar to BG3 set in Neverwinter to take on the mantle of that series of games. Whether they want to or not is a different matter of course, but I for one would really like to see them do this.

  • @nikidelvalle

    @nikidelvalle

    11 ай бұрын

    You know something I've noticed since I started my second run, a lot of the lacking amount of interactions is just bugs, missing content triggers, dialogue getting overwritten by progressing too fast (especially as it concerns increasing approval), etc. On this run I have been very careful to talk to every character whenever I even think they might have a new dialogue and truly going over every part of the map with a fine-tooth comb, and I am realizing I missed an absolute mountain of dialogue. Just in Act 1 so far, 50%+ of the dialogue from Astarion is dialogue I've never even heard before (because on the first run I completely missed the Putrid Bog), I discovered new conversations you can have with your companions that the game doesn't say is there when it triggers (such as after you encounter Raphael for the first time, all of the companions update with a long conversation about their own reactions), and long resting more often has led to more new camp scenes that I didn't even see in my first playthrough. Even in the first playthrough I saw a bunch of points where I very obviously missed dialogue. On my first run I missed out on every single companion's initial reaction to the dream guardian's first appearance, because by the time I talked to them I had already triggered the second scene with the guardian and it replaces that initial dialogue with something completely new. I really hope even more than them adding content, they actually make sure you're seeing all of the content that *is* there.

I also think they need to slow down how fast companion approval goes up, and maybe introduce a few systems that mete out new companion dialogue a bit slower over the course of the game so that they still have interesting things to talk about going into Act 3. Speaking of by the way, I've been playing with the mod "Approval Tweaks", it's been really helping me see a lot more companion dialogue on my second run. I have been a little sad about how it makes the companions a bit more initially hostile but it really helps pace out their content better.

Like have a smaller team use a lot of the assets already available and craft a mini campaign (maybe 20 hours) with a good amount of reactivity set in a different location, maybe have it be a lvl 5-12 campaign to give us a bit of a power boost at the start to alleviate the pain of starting a new character and make leveling feel faster, perhaps have some more difficult bosses and encounters to make up for the power boost at the start. I feel like giving the team freedom from the restraints of the main story can give us a new vibe altogether. There are so many forgotten realms locations they could craft a short campaign in.

That said, the question is, will Larian "fix" the problems with the 3rd act? do they know what people disliked or that if it can be fixed? or is there any word that they will do something about it if they can? or is it a case of "it is what it is"? I know with patches the bugs and technical issues will be mostly or even compleltely gone as the time goes on, but it's the other stuff I've seen people that worries me like the abrupt and underwhelming endings, the lacking companion interactions, and epilogues, etc.

More custom backgrounds like the Dark Urge would be great, but a greater variety of companions is what I really want.

Problematic stuff is mostly lvl 9 spells and Larian already skipped or changed some spells that could cause problems (like polymorph) I'd also like to get more spells and character choices from outside tha main book, tho I don't expect races as much since those can require more work to get extra lines in the game? One article I read from Swen a month or so ago, he said something like "well we are a development studio, so we know what we want to do next", which I was kind of surprised about! He also said, they want to work on something smaller and not spend 6 years on any one thing. They floated the idea of working on a couple of projects simultaneously, they also talked about downsizing cause they are a bit bigger than they want to be. I can understand that, size can be risky, but it also sucks for anyone who gets laid off... all that said, we will see what they do. I think they might do Divinity 3, which he guaranteed they would be heading back to... and maybe a new IP. They like to be creative and try new things... so with the success of this game, they might see it as time to take a gamble and try something new that they have been thinking about. However, don't expect any announcements for a while. He also said that he is wary of announcing anything too early, cause he doesn't like to announce cancellations... so it might be another 2 years or so before we find out what they are up to. Power to 'em!

It'd give the game a huge amount of replayability for me, because for now, while I do want to try out the other classes with my friends and see how they work, I dont want to go through the story again so soon. Being able to just group up with 3 other friends and go deeper and deeper into a randomly generated dungeon, getting loot and levelling up with no story sounds very fun in this game. I liked the mode in Kingmaker, but I prefer D&D 5e's combat and Larians' devoted Turn Based mode more, as opposed to the half active time combat Kingmaker had and the more mathematical build approach Kingmkaer relied on. No idea if they will put it in but I really hope so. Would also make the release of new classes/subclasses and races more entertaining for somebody like me too, cause I could take them into that Dungeon rather then starting the story all over again.

Not that I would mind combat but the 'chess games' played by the major character in waterdeep is something that has not been explored yet and could be more 'contained' in scope compared to the massive bg3. That's something that could work and might require far less time on development, especially if they can take advantage of the engine they created for BG3 for that.

    I know this is a bit out there but I'd like to see them try their hands at a different setting other than fantasy.

    It's kind of ironic that what makes BG3 so great is the same thing that makes expansions/DLC that's usually easy to do a lot harder. Additional race/class? Well, now you need a ton of reactivity to that class so it's properly integrated which means that you need all those voice artists back to add a couple lines each. Everything is so interwoven that you can't really stick something additional in between without massive effort. And tacking something onto the end of a well-crafted story is always tough. The only thing I could see is a prelude - what were the origin characters up to before they got captured and tadpoled. With the way the reset to level 1 via parasite was explained, we can get short stories on multiple different level ranges. Ok, could someone pitch this to Larian, I'm falling in love with the idea.

    If they're going to do more than re-add cut content, yes that probably means going all into the project that in some ways doesn't work so easily. Its not impossible if they want to support the game 2-4 years further, but they likely only want to do 1-2 years max with the way they're phrasing things currently.

    I hope they get to branch off and do whatever they want after all this, but I also really really want them to make 1 or 2 of the adventure modules in BG3 style. Curse of Strahd, Tomb of Annihilation, or Waterdeep: Dragon Heist.

    It would be nice for them to add new campaigns, even shorter ones with fewer permutations but just as much tactical action. Hell, even a DM mode would be the crowning achievement for this game.

    Instead of expanding vertically, with a higher level cap, I think expanding horizontally with more subclasses or even the artificer would be very cool

    I agree but I also think Lv 14-15 isn't necessarily impossible. If no expansion pack, then sure, more subclasses, artificer, maybe even companions and adding to stories of current ones. If yes expansion pack, I wouldn't mind seeing their approach to some higher levels, even if not Lv 20 or something.

    I would really like to see Larian do more D&D games based around pre-existing modules. Weather it's a sequel to a campaign like BG3 is (Maybe like Barovia after Starhd's defeat, or full campaign in Chult after ToA. Or just their take on a pre-existing campaign.

    I would be fine with just more companions added to give more variety during replays. It was one of my favorite aspects of the BG1 & 2 remasters.

    i'd be more than happy with more customization (more spells, classes & race, faces, weight options) for bg3, but honestly the game has been amazing! main priority in my opinion would be having the issues addressed (for me & my friend's playthrough, it has been buggy with framerate drops, random crashes, advantage not workin on checks & other bugs)

    Am I the only one who remembers that modders take an amazing game and turn it into a god-tier one? I'm waiting to see hilarious mod videos at the very least, and game-defining ones that completely transform our already-positive perspective of the game outright.

    I'd like to see them organize into a number of smaller teams and work on a number of new and different IPs, instead of another game on BG3 scale. They've the money and people to do it. Expansions to BG3, in my world, would be given to either inXile or Obsidian. I'd be super excited to see whatever ideas either would bring to that specific series.

    I really want the endings flushed out a bit and that’s basically my only complaint. I want to be able to walk around and talk to the people depending on the ending I took in a small area or even the city depending on what ending you took. I think it’d be pretty cool and tie up a lot of the loose ends that were left off

    I think another question that might be worth entertaining is what's next for BG/CRPGs. This has been a huge title. AAA isn't going to miss out on their own iterations. Every studio that can, will oversaturate the market with their own versions. Onward to 300k. All glory to the algorithm.

    Main thing I want is polish. Maybe some subclasses and races, wouldn’t be mad at a DM mode like they had in divinity. What I think would be cool is if the dlc they release was actual modules, being able to play tomb of annihilation or curse of strahd would be so cool.
