This show brings back the memory of going to my grandparents house as a kid. My grandmother always seemed to have this show on her little tv in the kitchen.

Just watched a WML episode from 1957 with Jim Backus as a panelist. I was born in ‘57. Hilarious to watch that original one and then this one 13 years later. Loved that Rich Little mentioned being on Truth or Consequences with Jim Backus. I loved that show. Would like to see old episodes of that with Bob Barker.

Not only is John Daly irreplaceable, but not having a live studio audience really kills this later version. The ever “delightful” Arlene was the only saving grace. That and the fact that the men maintained tradition by standing to shake hands with women.

Not having a live studio audience? That surprises me, I must have been dead when I was at the Ed Sullivan Theater watching this show being taped.

When you can do multiple voices, I guess it's pretty easy to fool the panel. But I loved it when Jim Backus figured it out. Rich actually does a great Magoo and Mr Howell!

The first iteration of What’s My Line ran from 1950 - 1967, with John Daly as host. The second iteration ran in syndication from 1968 - 75, first with host Wally Bruner and then Larry Blyden. So it ran a total of 25 years. It was never intended as an intense game show with a suspenseful buildup, but rather light entertainment with a familiar panel. But I understand if it’s not to your tastes.
