Super useful video, I'm currently applying for Mechanical at Strathclyde and at Glasgow, fresh out of high school, really useful seeing live and real accounts from a student, not just a lecturer or professor, really gave a great picture of what uni is like!

What is lacking with Mechanical Engineers today, is the knowledge of how to design mechanisms correctly. Did know that there's a mathematical formula that can be used for all mechanism designs? It's called Gruebler's Count. I found a way to make it practical for all 3D mechanisms. Here's the link if you are interested. kzread.info/dash/bejne/fXp2msmGmtuqgM4.html

This video could not be any better. Very useful information as I will be going into Uni 2022 after summer. I'm not sure although if I want to go abroad or stay here in the UK. But because I'm in Scotland Uni is free for me. But I wouldn't mind going to Amsterdam. It's not been my dream or whatever but It would be nice going somewhere. I'm learning French but doing a Uni course in a different language is not for me. Right now I'm trying to make a decision because by october this year I have to apply for it.

I'm doing engineering at uni ,mechanical or general I'm not 100% sure , from a L3 Btec engineering... the funniest thing is, I hate mathematics, and never liked physics particularly, but I just like engineering and fixing problems and things. My tutors at college say, I'm one of the best students they have had because even if I dislike or am not good at somthing, because I give it my best, which frustrates my maths, calculus and electronics tutors ,and makes my mechanicel principals, materials, project and CAD tutors very happy . Good video helped alot.

slim shady In my opinion economics is extremely useful for engineering, it gives you more of a sense of how different events can impact raw material prices and how to operate in a more cost effective manner. Good luck, enjoy the degree:) there will be some tough times but it’s all worth it in the end

This video was very interesting but I still feel as though I'm not doing good enough So far I'm in my first year of A Levels With an A in economics, B in maths and an E in Design and Technology: Design Engineering which I'm let down by. I did Engineering at GCSE and got a 9 and now I'm struggling with the physics and the chemistry and I feel as though it's rather unsettling with so much stuff to try and understand I've been using GCSE science resources and slowly doing better and having my 2nd upcoming exam in February but with so much about manufacturing processes and such little resources online for the subject it's quite stressful trying to get a good grade for the exam which I've been given a narrow topic list that might not even be correct I've never really been good at science only been good at some forces and electricity from GCSE other than that I have almost no good knowledge of science

Hi! I’ve been offered both Bristol and UCL for Mechanical Engineering. Which do you think is a better choice? It’s both A*AA and I’m trying to pick one of them as my insurance choice after Imperial. I really like London and I want to study there, but Mechanical engineering in Bristol is way higher than UCL according to my research. May I have your opinion please? By the way, your videos really helped me a lot! Thank you!

That’s a tough one, I used to live in Bristol and did my PGCE at the uni, but then London is also a great city to live in when you’re young. Both great options, and it’s great you have the choice. When do you have to decide by? Can you visit both places again soon to have another look?

Hi, I’m the guy in the video. If you’re dead set on the industry and don’t think you’ll change your mind, go for it. However if you’re sort of 50/50 I’d recommend mechanical, just because it allows you to go into a wider range of fields (however both are extremely good degrees and will help you find jobs) A good way to look at it is that aerospace is a subset of mechanical engineering. Another route you could take is to do a BEng (3 years) in mechanical and then get a MEng (masters, 1 or 2 years) in aerospace. I had the exact same dilemma when I was trying to decide. I was extremely interested in getting a job in F1 or in the car industry, however I spoke to someone I knew who had completed an aerospace degree. I realised that it wasn’t for me, I wanted a broader degree. Aerospace is a very tough degree but can be rewarding and interesting. Let me know if you have any other questions and I’ll try to answer:)

Fees: 9250 for Local students. 22800 for International Students. (Pounds) Being an International student (at Newcastle uni), my parents are struggling to pay the fee... its very unfair. I dont mind paying maybe 50% more but this is over 200% more!!! Not acceptable... They should change the international fee structure, with the fee varying depending on which country the student is coming from, because some countries are much poorer than others...

You chose to study internationally. You could've studied in your home country for much cheaper. UK unis aren't obliged to lower their price just to cater to foreigners. What's more, you can always apply for a scholarship,

I've agree with you, especially commonwealth countries. In my home country, we only have one university and it's absolutely rubbish. I know the UK is less expensive than the US for universities, but it's still quite hefty. In my situation, I'm also dual citizen and hold a British passport, but I still have to pay international fees which is a bit odd to me.
