From the trailer alone. I’m torn between wanting the cliche the two best friends get together ending, and his arranged marriage working out and her finding the right person for herself. Thankfully, me being torn means I’ll be happy either way.

Yeah, but does anybody really realisticly believe that their relationship has a chance in the long run? There are so many obstacles to overcome and so much middle ground resolutions that everybody will be unhappy because everybody thinks they got nothing. The biggest chance of their relationship surviving more than five years is if one of them leaves their culture completely and assimilates to the other culture.

Due to my career in IT, I had the opportunity to meet a lot of people from India, Pakistan and the surrounding area. As in every country and culture, there are pleasant and terrible people. Unfortunately, the level of poverty in these countries is unimaginable for us in the West, and films of this type fail to show it. As in any film of this type, it is colorful, danceable and manages to overcome cultural differences without any problems, while the realities are much sadder and this film definitely does not show them. At least not in the trailer.

  • @marg2711

Yes it’s sad but as you point that out let us remember these countries were pillaged of trillions of dollars in resources that made the economies of the western nations. And also let me point out movies made in the west rarely show the homelessness, poverty that exists here.

I was never spiteful and still aren't but learning about whole new cultures is always a unique experience. I was broken for a while but eventually, we became close friends and I'm happy the way we are now. I'm with a different person and although my friend and I have ups and downs we always know we'll be there for each other.

He was a messanger, he was delivering gods message on earth, he didn't 'invent' anything from himself. So just because he was an orphan doesn't mean he couldn't have tell about the fact that heaven lies below mother's feet. There's also another saying of prophet Muhammad (pbuh ) that one man asked him regarding loving and respecting the most who's next after God and prophet? , he replied, "your mother", the man again asked after mother who's next?, the prophet replied, "your mother", the man asked again who's next?, prophet replied, "your mother", the man asked then who's next?, then the prophet replied, "and then your father." Arranged, not forced. Theres a difference. I have seen it work out perfectly with many families. Most of the time, when the families arrange it, its no different to matchmaking sites. They help find the person who suits you and your needs, and you do there's. First your strangers, then friends. Love happens over time. It comes with appreciating a person, for their goods parts and their flaws. The main goal though, is for both sides to end up happy. I think it takes the stress off dating in the modern world.

Guess what, even for Europeans marriage has only been equated with love for a few hundred years, if that. Maybe only since women could own property themselves & not cede everything to their husband on marriage? Before that it was a contractual, business matter often also arranged by families. They would take children's preferences into account, but....still more a matter of money, economics, status and the social fit than anything. And you were stuck for life, no easy divorce, what we would call abuse today was condoned.

There’s only one “ What’s Love Got To Do With It “ and this isn’t it ……… 🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️ and I hope this isn’t predictable 🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️ he decides not to marry the girl and gets with the bestfriend that he’s been neighbors with forever , she realizes she’s always ran away from love when her real love has always been Nextdoor. Oh and she hates relationships because of how her dad abandoned her mom ( daddy issues). But now she’s in love and he’s taken 🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️

watched this film when it came out and just rewatched it today( 28th of march 2024) and all I can say is that I still love this movie as much as I loved it whenn it first came out and when i watched it for the first time.Absolutely love the cast especially sajal ali(i'm pakistani and she is my favourite pakistani actress). emma thompson and lily james, the other cast memebrs were also really good, we get to see alot of things that are noermal in our society and how men and women face different problems, cried like a baby every single time when i watched the movie becaise the last scene where the sister comes bacl with her baby and husband always makes me cry so bad, i could go on forever about this movie but i think this is enough for now, ooh also last thing love the colours and cinematography of the movie, do watch it if you havent yet, it's an amazing watch
