When you've been abused and you're petrified with fear it takes a lot of courage to fight back especially when you know full well you're opponent is man who could knock you out with a single punch. My dad was like Ike and I still remember how fearful I was of him as a child because he could go from calm to exploding in seconds. What cunts like Ike never realise is eventually they'll push someone too far my dad did and my mum left and like Tina we left with hardly anything just a few clothes and toiletries. He's ended up a sad and lonely old man because no one wants anything to do with him he pushed everyone too far and my entire family washed their hands of him I wouldn't piss on him if was on fire. Now I just enjoy the fact he got his comeuppance and is now reaping what he sowed. There needs to be much harsher punishments for abusers because they do a lifetime of damage

Before I saw this movie on Disney+, three days after she died, I didn't know Tina had an abusive husband and a hard life, when I was watching it, I felt really terrible about what she had gone through but managed to free yourself from Ike's cage and become one of the greatest singers of the world. Watching this movie was like a history lesson about tragedy, abuse and hope.

I'm like hello....... that's how alot of times people end up killed because their abuser found & killed them. It's a very bad situation. A lady in my area escaped her boyfriend, a few weeks later she was getting her nails done at a salon. He found her, dragged her to the parking lot. Shot her multiple times close range in front of folks.

I have people in my daily life who experience /experienced domestic abuse it is not by any means ‘ok’ but unfortunately, it was WAY too normalised. Not only that, but if the driver DID call the authorities they wouldn’t have done anything. The driver would have just lost his job

I remember being 12 seeing this in the theater with my Aunt! The theater erupted in applause when Tina finally fought back and when Ike and Tina walked into that hotel lobby all bloodied they were cracking up laughing!😂😂😂

Legend tells that Ike's screams can still be heard in that car even to this day. Tina took that tail to school and sent it packing and sniffing.

Abusers use fear, threats, manipulation, coercion and ultimately physical violence to control their victims, making them believe that they are stronger and that their victims depend on them. They also use their victim’s love they had for them against them. But when she realised upon lashing out that he could actually be hurt and she could actually defend herself, she then became consumed with rage instilled from years of anger, frustration, sadness and low self esteem at the hands of Ike finally boiling over and then just wanted to tear him to pieces.

My bf hit me in the face one time. Afterwards I got super drunk cause I was so upset at about 3 am he was passed out asleep I was drunk went into my kitchen got the biggest knife I could find. I creeped into my bedroom where he was & was truly going to slit his throat at that exact moment my cell phone rang in my pocket it was my sister calling from her job. She worked nights when the phone rang his eyes opened up & he seen me standing over him with a knife in my hand. He looked like a deer in headlights he was terrified. Neither one of us said a word. I believe god intervened getting that call from my sister cause I’d be spending the rest of my life in prison for that lowlife ex of mine. He never touched me again & about a month later I sent his raggit ass on a greyhound back to Florida where he came from. You hit me u better make it worth it is all I got to say.

Laurence Fishburne is an amazing actor. I read he handled his role so well that he was some kind of hated in real life for some time.

he refused the role multiple times and only took it when Angela Bassett accepted the role as Tina - he probably knew he wouldn't be well-liked playing someone like Ike Turner

Man...its so interesting seeing Lawrence Fishburn play as Ike here, and seeing him play as Morpheus.

The way he screamed at the end had me dead on the floor 😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Angela Bassett played one hell of a roll in this movie. And as for Tina Turner? I am so thankful that she finally fought back AND got away from Ike Turner. I don't know whatever became of him, but I hope karma finally bit him in the ass. If not, I hope he gets what is coming to him. Tina was a saint by staying as long as she did and by helping him raise his children from another woman. I pray Tina is now enjoying her life and that she's with a man that is good to her.

It's actually about 15 years since Ike Turner passed away from a Cocaine overdose and the world is still happy to be rid of him.

I just love how she cocked that right hand. Like it was at least 10 years of fury in that punch.

This story is so sad; the mess Tina had to go through is horrible
