What’s It Like Being a Jamaican Living in Saudi Arabia?

Ойын-сауық

In this episode of “Jamaicans to the World”, Jamaicans.com founder Xavier Murphy speaks with Kevin Thomas. He has been living in Saudi Arabia for over 8 years. Just for information Xavier is also Javier. There were two boys at my nephew's baptism. The priest had Xavier (Zayvier -- English pronounciation) and Javier (Havier-Spanish pronounciation). Both baby boys are named for St. Francis Xavier or St. Francisco of Javier, Spain. He was part of the founders of the Catholic priestly order called the Society of Jesus or the Jesuits.

Strangely enough that happens here in Argentina too. There are few Jamaicans here and we all know each other so when an Argentine tells me they've a Jamaican and the description doesn't match any of us I know it's an African pretending to be Jamaican. Some Haitians do it too. It's as you said to be perceived better because here too they love the idea of Jamaica. They have even started visiting.

And please don’t be sorry about addressing aspects of the program, but best to focus on its content rather than appearances-and I understand you may be curios about it-it’s certainly not a disguise, just a look.
