That statement sounds very very nice, but it’s actually problematic. So what people are not inherently good (as a people)?? What people are considered’bad’ as a group, so not welcome?

Much blessings to Amega and her Journey in the D.R. and her business. Hopefully she does very well. Im Dominican from the states but visit my country often. I will definitely be visiting her Restaurant to get some food. I love JA food that I get here in Brooklyn NY from my long time JA friends. So I love that she brought Jamaica to D.R. its always good to have variety. Santo Domingo is an up and coming city with alot of money floating around, and like she said theres alot of tourist there. So hopefully she get blessed with alot of exposure to uplift her business. #CaribbeanConnection 🇩🇴+🇯🇲: One ❤

Xavier I went to BK Technical H.S. here in NYC. As a 55 y/o born and raised in Harlem, my schoolmates were predominantly English-speaking Caribbean. Till this very day I would say Jamaicans are identical to Dominicans. I'm not referring to how we cook etc. I speak of how we both treat ppl. I want to thank you and this young lady because you are exemplary. We are island no matter what part of the world we live in

WOW! Powerful interview. Sound like me when I came to New York. My cousin told me to come stay with him. I never know he was a drug dealer. The week I was about to go to the house , my aunt told me to stay at her house. A few weeks after, he was shot and killed. I had to sleep on the floor in someone bedroom. I thought I better head back home. The job was gone, I had no income. Well, fast forward, I got a job , found an apartment, and sort myself out. You have to be strong and determine to succeed.

I know we're kind of far compared to the capital bit my family would adopt you and your son 😆. I only wish my mother and her sister would've still been alive because they never had girls. My parents came in ‘63 from DR to NYC. Your story definitely reminded me of them. My aunt was the first sponsored by my parents in the ‘60s as well. Just like you they expressed their cultural identity and connected with a new country through the stomach 😆. I have no doubt that your family and Xavier are favored.

I’m happy since the beginning she was helped by a Haitian to find the job, and when she was in Chubble in DR there were still Haitians to help her. That can give her a different perception that every single foreigner should have of Haitian, they are in struggle with some politicians they voted and who robbed them. But they are not bad people overall. About the Dominican food any Jamaican or Haitian is not going to like it, we like seasoning our meat, blend or smash our peas for stew peas but they don’t.
