I can say firsthand, I haven't watched the video but I own these boots. I've worn them pretty much everyday for 3 years. They're on their second heel. I wore through the original heel pad until it was flapping off. Additionally, the leather in the heel counter area inside I have worn through. I use them to work on trucks, ride motorcycles, chop firewood, off roading etc along with everyday use. I condition them before every winter as we get snow here. Awesome boot, and I'll continue to wear mine until the upper fails. If you're interested, I could send some pictures of them if you'd like to see what hard wear has done to them over that time.

With winter coming, can you do a series into winter boots? Insulated boots with lugs for snow. It's really hard to tell what is cheaply made when serious winter boots have such a msrkup to begin with.

Where I think the Thursdays Logger really excels is for a dress boot that looks the part of rugged. And while I own many of the real work/rugged boots, I've been looking for something similar I could everyday wear for time at the Office. Thursdays Logger is a winner for me.

  • @fev1027
    @fev10278 ай бұрын

I got the logger based off this video and after about a year of use I gotta say this boot has been superb. As shown in the video, it handles wear and tear very nicely and the scratches do add some nice character to color of the leather. They took about a week of pretty heavy walking to break-in but are now very comfortable and fit well. Speaking of fit I would recommend a half size down from what you typically wear in sneakers. The only minor gripe I have is that I had an aglet on the laces break within about 2 weeks of purchase but thats small caveat in an otherwise great boot.

This video is pitting a logger boot vs 1000 Mile. A little unfair but Thursday Captain vs the cap-toe Wolverine 1000 Mile? I have both and the Wolverine fits better and has thicker leather. Wolverine 1000 mile seems better than Thursday Captain but good to have both.

I just got my pair of loggers after watching this video. TheLogger is the best boot that tbc sells. The leather is super thick and so is the outsole. The outsole is like 1/2” of vibram so it’s super padded when walking around the forefoot. I love any and all boots with a toe cap and out of all my Thursday boots these are my favorite for the simple reason of the leather, the Cuban heel stack, and the thick outsole. TBC definitely gives you the best materials your money can buy without it costing an arm and a leg. They are sexy, comfy, and nice Cuban heel. I was trying to compare the 1k mile boots vs the Loggers and I picked the Loggers because of the look, the leather, the heel stack and the fact it does have a shank whereas the 1k miles don’t have a shank. The 1k miles are well over $100 more and the quality is NOT there. I like the 1k mile boots too but they don’t have any with a toe cap in stock with a heel like the Logger. I have found that plain toed boots don’t break in as well and doesn’t look as good as cap toe boots worn in. I think the cap toe hides a lot of the creases compared to the plain toed boots. Just mo.

I love that style of leather on the Thursday Logger. Its beautiful yet rugged as hell and thick. Now if only the cap toe was real so I could use it when I'm working down low or on my motorcycle. The insole not being removable sucks but if its like the Mexico version at all it should be comfortable right out of the box. I definitely like it more than the 1000 mile boot.

Just by chance, I bought a pair of Thursday Captains about five years ago, before anyone was talking about the brand. They have a fake toe cap, but honestly, the boots have held up extremely well. You can buy a pair of these and work and hike and do whatever the hell you want, and they'll last for many years. Don't read the nonsense online saying that you need crazy thick boots just to do some work in. The stitching will hold up and you'll be fine.

Great video as usual! Solid comparison, and fairly-measured. Have three types of 1K boots, and like them all. It was the first, and maybe the only pair I have I bought new. I was always struck by the thinness of the leather outsole. I had Tulsa Shoe Rebuilders re-sole one pair with a fine pair of Dr. Soles outsoles, which increased their use and durability x 10. However, it’s undeniable that this Thursday has some great components, and that leather is gorgeous. I’m beginning to feel that waxed flesh is becoming my favorite leather in my boot corral. I picked up a pair of Wesco Warrens in INDIGO waxed flesh, which are a stunning pair of boots. Wesco suggests Leather Honey for a conditioner, which-as your advert for them says-“does not darken the leather” as much. I like this as I hate to see the leather on a pair of my boots lose their leather’s “depth” be lost to conditioner. I won’t let that happen with these Wesco boots, as the leather is just too pretty in Indigo. However, Thursday’s heel stack on this video is just looks abominable. That creepy texturing looks like plastic. If I copped a pair of them, I’d break out the sandpaper immediately. They’d look phenomenal “done up” like some of these swank-looking Indo-Boots, with that shiny heel/sole job they do!

They're a bit out of the way for you because they do really focus on dress boots, but I would say their rust waxy commander boot could be considered a competitor to this logger boot (full disclosure I now own both). I've owned these loggers for over a year and I like them a lot. My only complaints are with the identity confused design - like the fact that they have the dress style heel top lift, it is an 8 inch boot with no speed hooks, and as you can see at 8:27 they have no tongue gusset at all, so even though they have good waterproof materials and construction, if any water splashes on the laces it goes right into the boot. At least the heel and hooks can be fixed by a cobbler, not sure about the gusset though. Overall they are great materials and build quality, but I would change those few things if I had my way. The Whites Sawyer probably would have been better for what I wanted, for ~$100 more.

The leather of the regular version is by no means a bad leather, but it's a bit thinner and tanned in another way. Also the soles on the cheaper ones had to be repaired three times already, since they use softer rubber that wears off faster and tends to detach from the tip of the toes over time. The made in Mexico boots are still in very good condition and will last me a few more years, but if you compare the money spent on those repairs then you'd be better off on just buying the vanguards. Both great boots for the price tho.

I have the French Roast Vanguard, which is Thursday's other American made boot. They look great and I love the boots. I think they will age really well. They can dress up but they also really have a quality and weight to them that makes them really feel like good boots. I think the Horween leather options for the Logger and Vanguard make them stand out from the Captain. And they come with fully leather laces and the waxed ones also. So you can use either.

Great vid Weston. I’ve owned a pair of these Thursday loggers since early 2020 and worn them ~4 times a week since. I know a lot of people hate that stacked heel look but I love these boots, especially how that waxed cacao leather wears in. My main 3 complaints are the fake toe cap, thin top lift and un-gussetted tongue (tongue slid to the side while wearing). After 2.5 years I just replaced the top lift with a thicker one, and fixed the tongue in place with a small rivet. They’re also my most complimented boots. Would recommend for casual wear.

I like the look and value of Thursdays. I've owned two pairs, but I ended up selling both because they are just super narrow and I never could get them stretched enough to be comfortable. I even contacted them about sizing before ordering and just never could get them comfortable. It was a shame.

@@ShacklefordR unfortunately, the wide seem to be limited to a few boots, and not the models I had. But I've since moved to boots without any foams in them like Red Wing and White's. I have a couple of Wolverines that I'm waiting for the sole to wear out on so I can rebuild them. They just don't have enough between your foot and the ground for me. I'd love them with an all leather construction like White's. And I'm interested in trying a pair of Trumans because they have an amazing selection of leathers.

  • @phineaspoe1978

@@MadelnMachines I don't know. I haven't been measured on a brannock device for years. I did the foot tracing and measuring for my White's MPs, and when I ordered my Perrys they had that. They put me in D width. I went to the store and got measured on Red Wing's automated system and also got placed in a D. My Wolverine 1000 miles are also a D. I contacted Thursday to make sure I was ordering the correct size, they asked about my other boots, I gave them the sizes of those, and then ordered based on their recommendations. The Thursdays were much narrower than anything else I own, even my Allen Edmonds Higgins Mills, which are also a bit narrower than the Red Wings, etc. I have since decided that, though Thursdays are a great value, I would rather have more expensive boots without all of the foam comfort materials inside that will eventually wear out.

Could you try puncturing the same hide of leather from both sides? I suspect having to push through the intertwined fibres of the flesh out side makes it tougher to get to/break through through the grain side, while on the other the hand if you slice through the grain side, that fibre structure falls apart, possibly explaining why rough out would have a greater puncture resistance

@Howyduin Yall I'm sure you can condition these roughout leather boots, but I have held out. I have babied them a bit, but from what I have read, conditioning is less important and necessary for this type of leather than a more conventional chrome or vegetable tanned leather. I condition my other boots at least every 3-6 months, depending upon wear frequency.
