Used to fossil hunt a lot too. I too can't wait for this to end--videos like this are slowing down. Noticed some of my favorite channels are digging deep for "B-roll" footage, making up for the shortfall. Thanks for posting this, MeMiner, enjoyed it!

Mine is from Way-too-Cool. I think it is 18 Watt and has UVA, UVB and UVC. At the time, it was considered one of best out there. I have seen a few in use that are more powerful, which I like, but also heard there is a shortage of one of the bulbs, so difficult to get right now. If I was to buy now, I would just get UVA and UVC to save a little money. I am not finding much use for UVB. If you are going to use it in hot temperatures, get one with a fan. Mine has the fan but it is cooler here, so that is something I probably didn't need to buy either.

you should find yourself a "spallding hammer" they are designed for breaking rocks rather than sledge hammers that are for driving pegs into the ground. Check with you local Quarry

It's private property and up to the land owner. As for the eye wear I agree with everyone and should have been wearing it, we decided last minute to try to break through the calcite so obviously my own fault for not being safe.

I always wanted to do that kind of stuff. I just do it myself with everything I find. Everything that God created fascinates me . I'm looking for meteorites.

I do the same thing and shake aggressively. I'd rather move more dirt in the limited time and don't really want fragile apatite. I like hard apatite. Thats just me and your point is well taken

@@meMiner That's fair. When I'm there it's all about keeping pretty much everything you find, so there would naturally be a difference in our approaches! It was still a lot of fun watching you and them dig around in such an awesome spot!

Why did you toss that fossilized cocoon. Bad choose. You can collect fossils while digging for crystals

That was a live bug in pupa form. It's rare that crystals grow in the presence of fossils, alot of crystal environments would destroy the fossils.
