My most under-rated kitchen utensil is a spoon. They're just so versatile and can be used for so many different things. Also for anyone wondering the scissors are the Zhang Xiaoquan precision utility scissors, I have a pair too.

My most under-rated kitchen utensil is my bench scraper. I use it almost every day. I use it on things such as bread to even hard candies. It is also one of the items you can use for anything. Since it's metal it won't break easily. Love your videos Justin, keep it up.

1st off I love your videos! You get extremely descriptive on every topic you cover and it's perfect. Can't even begin to describe the number of times it's helped me too. Most underrated kitchen tool, I would say is my small Swiss army knife. It fits everywhere and I've used it for hundreds of uses. Even the day I got my pairing knife stolen. And or needed to sharpen my mandoline slicer, but didn't have a screwdriver. It's a big life saver.

Having a unique pen is awesome, it's less likely to get stolen or lost. A foldable can-opener, and a small ( emergency ) squeeze bottle. Also depending on the culinary school, a bread knife can be a good idea. I love the gear vids.

An underrated kitchen utensil that comes to mind is a nice pair of fish boning tweezers. You don’t think of them much until you need them. But when you do, they are indispensable-especially at a fish station.

I think the dough cutter is the most underrated kitchen utensil. I work as a pizza cook and find it to be the biggest muti tasker. It helps to keep the flour on the spreading station confined to that area, allows you to cut apart dough that has proved to much and would be a nightmare to pull apart, and most importantly if a pizza gets too well done you can use it to scrape off the blacken bits and save the pie. Great video as always, Keep it up!

For me, there's a couple of underrated kitchen utensils that I've come to really appreciate over the years. First off, a pocket knife. I currently carry around a Gerber Remix folding blade. I use it mainly for opening and tearing down boxes. What I've noticed working in a hotel restaurant, the skill level of employees around varies. I've had instances where guys will not think twice about using kitchen knives to tear into a cardboard box or rip open bags. A safer and a more practical solution to most common occurrence. A (good) sharpie and roll of blue tape is a must. I always carry around my Gray Kunz spoon, OXO cake tester, and my Wusthof micro kitchen shear. I'm also fortunate enough that I am able to keep my tools secure in the kitchen that I work in so I don't have to carry a knife kit to and fro home. I'm definitely in that category of guys who have a tool (even a knife) for almost every job in the kitchen. 😬

Nice gear. I’ve been a chef for 25 years and 99.9 percent of my knife work is done with a 8” wustof culinar ikon chef knife. I also have a Shun 8” chef knife. I’ll use one or the other. I’ve been using a messermiester knife bag for about 15 years,it’s like a suit case for knifes with the ability to carry an ungodly amount of tools. It just sits on the bottom shelf of my prep table. But I have been considering down sizing. The down fall of that bag or suitcase or mine is the amount of debris it collects. Constantly giving it a scrub down which isn’t a easy task.

I just bought the Mac ceramic honing steel and it works great in between sharpening sessions. I also finish sharpening my knives with a 6000 grit stone which leaves a mirror polish on the edge. The only thing that bothers me about the rod is that it would dull the mirror finish of the edge.
