I am currently 37 weeks with my second. I would say - Definitely pack your makeup, nice towel, pillow and your own blanket. It’s not “extra” at all if it will help make a physically uncomfortable time feel more cozy and comfortable for you. Also, make sure you have enough clothes / undies for yourself in case you have to stay 3 or more days. That can happen unexpectedly because of jaundice or any reason. Again, some people may say you overpacked but you’ll be so happy you did it. So will Adam because then he won’t have to leave and try to guess what you’d like or need. I didn’t see if you had this but make sure to bring your own ear plugs and a great eye mask for you and Adam. The nurses will be in sometimes hourly through the night and it’s so hard for sleep with all the beeping, lights and interruptions.

Okay so, this is the best hospital bag video I’ve ever watched. Organized & explained very well. I’m 20 weeks so saving this for in about 10 weeks from now, ty!

Suggestion I saw from a L&D nurse: If you’re packing a pillow and blankets choose items you don’t mind getting messy and probably even throwing out before you go home. Lots of blood/fluids etc in moms bed and these are almost always left in the hospital garbage.

Coming from a nursing mom of 5, may I suggest not using ice packs for breast pain relief? It still dry up and suppress your milk supply. If you get too engorged, I’d go for a heating pad instead. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out! Xoxo

I hope you see this soon, one thing you should have 100% is the medela nipple shield for breastfeeding. I didn’t know about it with my first baby, which sucked because I just couldn’t breastfeed it was so painful even with nurses helping me. With second baby the hospital gave me these huge tick shields I had no idea even existed, but baby didn’t want them. Someone bought the medela shields for me after my second baby a few days later and OMG! Trust me when I tell you breastfeeding even when doing it right it still hurts the first few days. And that thing saved me completely. Theyre thin and once you get your baby to adjust to them everything is easy, it helps your breast not to get so irritated from their little gums🙌🏼 order ASAP!!

I am SO HAPPY for you guys!! I am 30, with a 9 year old boy! I love seeing new things that weren’t around when I was expecting. I was definitely an “over packer” ☺️ but as a first time and (only time) mom, it was the most exciting moment of my life! Personally I was so focused on my little baby, I forgot I even brought a bag! This is the most precious moment you will ever experience and I can not wait to see your journey ❤️

You’re so cute! I’ll say that everything post partum the hospital provides and I didn’t need. The pads, the cooling pack for your undies, the disposable underwear, pads, witch hazel pads, numbing spray… the hospital provides it all! I’d say it would be more helpful to keep that all at home if you want to save room. You also don’t need anything for breastfeeding except nipple cream because your milk won’t come in for 3 or 4 days and you won’t be leaking to need pads or anything like that. Everything else is pretty spot on! If you feel better to pack it though then that’s worth it! Also not sure if you mentioned it but I am bringing pacifiers for the baby my second time around & I loved having my boppy pillow in the hospital learning how to breastfeed!

I just finalized my list this morning, I’m due in February with my first little one and this was super helpful!

My baby is 4 months, and I love those Amazon nursing bras! I wear them every day. Also, my hospital was great about providing everything for postpartum, but the one thing I’d totally pack again is the Frida Mom cooling wipes!

So, for adult diapers/pads, my hospital provided everything, but what I bought was so much nicer. So even if your hospital says they provide something, just for comfort, having the better quality stuff is so nice. I think you did a great job packing! I like to pack light with a few extras. Unless you're bringing a huge suitcase, there's nothing wrong with easing your worry by packing a few things you *could* need 😁 Don't let anyone tell you not to pack something if having it makes you more comfortable ❤

So excited for y’all- he’ll be here in no time! I’m due with baby girl #2 on the 26th and love seeing these videos! Just want to mention, not only do you have contractions after delivery, but your nurse will “massage” your tummy to help your uterus contract back down! I had a c-section, but honestly the “massage” was one of the most uncomfortable moments 🥴

All of the Frida mom post partum items are AMAZING you will love them!!! I would lay the wipes on the cold ice pack then layer a few pumps of the foam. Also the earth momma organic perineal spray is a must!!! Spray it alllll over down there! I found that it was way more soothing than the can of spray the hospital provides that burned me when I had 3rd degree tears and stitching

I love the idea of one smaller bag in the bed with u. And separate bag for postpartum stuff!

Love that you thought to include the baby book! The hospital I delivered at gave us a piece of paper with the foot and handprint on it but you’ll have yours in case they don’t do it the same way. Also, one thing I did during my second delivery was to record what happened and at what time. Admitted at ____, checked into triage at _____, ___ cm at _____, doc broke water, etc. You can write it directly into the baby book or if you don’t want to do it that way at least tuck a piece of paper in there for it. I recorded some of mine in the notes section of my phone but wish I had hand wrote it more. Looking back at any doodling you might have done, notes from your partner (or doctors/nurses) along with the timeline of how and when things happened will be something you’ll love looking at one day! A friend that had delivered just a few months before me when I had my first told me the hospital provided everything I would need postpartum. They did technically I guess but the pads were like puppy pads so they were just way to big so I will be bringing my own pads this time for comfort. They also didn’t provide me with the witch hazel pads or any healing spray/foam so I will also take that stuff with me this time as well.

Even a C-section is a natural delivery!

This inspired me to start packing my hospital bag. Love your going home outfit from Walmart! Did you size up? I also bought the same hospital bag on Black Friday too. And my husband got me the Beis diaper backpack for Christmas. So excited for you and Adam!

I'm due with my first on January 14th, so right there with you! You have everything so organized in there; I love it! One thing you didn't mention that I've heard recommended a bunch is a small bedside touch lamp so you don't have to turn the bright hospital lights on when you're up at night with the baby.

No girl 😂 sorry but my hospital (& I delivered at 2 different ones) had dimmable lights in the room. Or I just left the tv on with no sound. If you walk into a hospital with a lamp the nurses will automatically judge you 😂 sorry but they will. Maybe a plug in night light would be nice 🤷‍♀️

As an update, I did end up using my little lamp! It fit into my palm and was shaped like a large egg. Only one light in our room had a dimmer and the dimmest setting was still quite bright. The nurses thought it made the room homey. ❤️

Also the drops DO work!!!!! Put those in your other bag the bag you’re going to have near your bed!!! Right on my night stand I had my nipple cream and those drops and I just added them to my big hospital water every time I got it refilled.

Love it. So excited for you! It would be so great to see a video on what you packed for Adam, of course only if you have time.

Postpartum nurse here! The hospital should give you prenatal vitamins!

I have another one!! An eye mask!! You’re going to be absolutely exhausted after the baby is born and will want to take every opportunity to take little naps whenever you’re able to, even if it’s the middle of the day and the sun is shining. My husband and I actually took turns napping with the eye mask all throughout the day at the hospital lol hope your delivery goes really smoothly Raven!!! You got this!!

Definitely bring an eye mask! Hospital lights are so harsh even when the lights are off they’re not really off in the hallways, etc

You’re doing great! I have a 5 week old so my advice would be that some of your postpartum stuff is great, but you probably don’t need to bring it to the hospital. You will certainly use it at home. A couple other things you might want to have at home is Colace to start taking right away and plenty of Advil because you will be taking it around the clock. I also bought some period panties because when you are on week 2 of wearing a pad 24/7, you might want something more breathable. Also, Dermoplast was amazing. They gave me some at the hospital but it was kind of scarce. I would ask your OB what they think about that. The only other thing I like having at the hospital with me is a good, well sealing, travel mug. If you think you are going to want coffee or tea. That way you can have more than just a few oz of coffee in a styrofoam cup.

I was SOOO hungry after delivery that I ate all the snacks I packed within 3 hours postpartum 🤣 Next time I’m packing more “hearty snacks” like meat and cheese sticks and nuts. Also I literally lived in the hospital gowns for all three days I was there and never once used my own clothes that I packed until when I was discharged/ leaving. Best of luck with labor & delivery.

In my area hospital providers with brand new water bottles with small fan, hygienic items such as shampoo. Hear brush or lipstick and socks, they will provide you with one-time or disposable underwear. I will suggest to check with the hospital you will deliver the baby.

Almost 39 weeks and making sure I haven’t forgotten anything 😅

You packed a lot of great stuff! Not sure how it is in your town/hospital. But when I delivered my son in July I was only in the hospital one night because of covid they were discharging quickly if you and baby were healthy to go home. So I didn’t use half of the things I packed. I’m not sure if your planning to breastfeed but even if your not I’d say skip a bra until the end. The hospital really encouraged skin to skin contact that first 24 hours. Also I would save your frida mom supplies until you get home. In your post delivery room the bathroom is stocked with huge pads and those ice packs. Make sure to take all the supplies they give you home with you as well! Congratulations and good luck!

I will be delivering not too long after you so I've been researching what to bring/what's not needed, and every person said to bring stool softeners. They also said to start taking them almost immediately after the baby is born which if you think about it make sense. Great video though! I added a bunch of these items to my list!

Hard to say with where you're at but I know at my hospital there was no point for the water bottle as they wouldn't refill it due to C.

You will not need a water bottle! The best part of the hospital is the cups you get!! Trust me!

Bring your own bath shower towel don't use the hospital bath shower towel because of grems

I didn’t use my breast feeding pillow. Bring a pillow, blanket , snacks, and Tylenol for your partner.

That's one thing I didn't use either- the breast feeding pillow! It came highly recommended when I asked, but it was something I would have left out

I haven't seen someone beautiful glowing gorgeous when you congratulations to you and your family you have a cute baby bump what brand of diapers are you going to use Pampers or huggies or luvs wish you and your family happilys

You don’t need any of this stuff. The hospital has everything including clothes 🤣 I had my first at 22 and he’s one now. You don’t need ANYTHING. Your post partum stuff will be provided. Clothes for the kid. Diapers, formula, sheeeeesh. I watched these videos and packed my bag and re packed a million times before I had him. Didn’t use half the stuff and only used his clothes I wanted for photos. Don’t need a pillow or blanket 😂 I stayed for a WEEK after my natural birth and did not even get up to shower everyday or change clothes all the time. Cause you really don’t need to. You’ll be in bed barely able to move or sore, they come to press on your stomach every few hours you won’t be in the mood and NO SLEEP, will only need a shower once every two days. And if you only stay for 2 days you will only have time to take one shower. 🤣 Man oh man. I remember these days but the excitement gets you. Just a big fat - you won’t use half this stuff and they will provide you water and food and apple juice and anything you need they got it already 😂😂😂
